There is something wrong in kdrama land apparently. Here we have actors who do their best, who give their all to their performances and their jobs. They really do excellently at acting their roles... but they are let down by poor writers. The writers let down the roles, let down the story, do not connect things well in the plot or just don't deliver all that they should. That's disappointing to actors who try their best.
Woo Bin taking a role and doing magic with it is always what I want to see. He does excellently here. His acting and his charm draws people to his movies. The movie is nothing new, but it was interesting and exiting to watch what Woo Bin's character would do. I confess, I got fooled for about a minute lol, because it had many twists ans turns and the director used flashbacks to piece it all together like a top notch mystery. I loved Woo Bin's exciting, arrogant, confident, sexy character and how he was played and scripted.
Loved Joo Won here. I stuck with it because of him. I admit, Naeil was a bit hard to watch but she grow on you. Her immaturity was exaggerated though, an annoying. What actually clinched this drama for me was Joo Won's reference to Kim Tak Goo in episode 1. Especially with his own role in Kim Tak Goo lol. I enjoyed the drama. It was funny, cute and nice. The romance however, I don't believe in it lasting for more than a few years.
I dropped. I was enjoying the story and the characters before he lost his memory. After that, I just couldn't get into it. It was like a super smart character got dumbed down for the sake of the story. The point is, I saw him willing to change in inflexible decisions prior to the memory loss.
I hated the main actress's character, I don't understand why anyone would like her. It was really frustrating…
An odd ball ahjumma can find love but it's not believable with a high school boy who is handsome, popular and has everything going for him. I finished it (inspite of her) and I still can't believe nor invest in that romance. At the end, I felt she was stealing something from him.
I want to watch this, based solely on Seo In Guk and Lee Soo Hyuk's acting. But the story has to be worthy too,…
I tasted it. I liked the story, the humour, the events. I hated the romance and the female lead's acting. It's not even because I dislike noona romances (<3 IHYV). This was an bad ahjumma romance. Rated it 9 for everything else.
I had the same problem you did - the actress and the female lead. The character could have been bearable if it was done differently. And the styling for her was ... eww, unimaginable. It could all have been done so much better and differently. Untidy didn't have to look ahjumma-ish like that. She looked like she was in her 40's
This has got to be my favourite drama. And I NEVER watch a drama before it's completed. I couldn't help myself with this one. I watched the 2 subbed on viki, but I could't wait so I watched the next 2 RAW. For me, that is a testimony of how good the story and production quality is here.
For anyone who's interested, here's a link to a teaser trailer. it's long and reveals a lot if you looked at the 1st 2 episodes, but it's worth sharing because it helped me get over my impatience for this drama. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFhl46qBY5s
The costuming was horrid - her princess dress came out of last century's quinceanera. The designer must have gotten the post by nepotism or something because that wasn't the only costuming problem. The GCI and scenery too was beyond horrific. I wasn't expecting flawless or well done, but a little standard would be appreciated. The characters.... well, let's not talk about that. I enjoyed the storyline though, but I skipped a lot. The story was enough to hold me for about 20 episodes but after that, omg, I just had to skip to get to the plot points and to not scar my eyes or brain with the production quality. The budget must have been big for this but it wasn't used wisely. Something was wrong with the scenes and their execution too. Very little in this was well done.
After reading your review, you made a lot of things slot into place for me. He's isn't able to suitably convey…
I don't agree that he isn't suitable, just that he puts too much comedy in the romantic aspect. I like comedy so I don't mind. I do mind when the writing and characterization is bad -- as it was in 7th Grade.
And the thing with 7th Grade being a flop is that his wasted characterization led to a wasted plot too. Even Joo Won's own character Kim Ho Ryong from "Special Investigation Unit" or Lee Tae Ho in "Catch Me", if mixed well with his playboy aspect in this show, could have impacted a lot more. I'm looking specifically at characterization because that is what drives these dramas.
Did you try "Catch Me"? That one was good. The romance was well done too, and there was great acting by the female lead and Joo Won. I ship that romance lol.
okay its been a week and i can't get over this ... I NEED...NO..THERE MUST BE A SEASON 2!!!!!!
The romance isn't in your face, but it's more subtle. It actually bleeds into every scene whether the couple is together on-screen or not. It's strong but not obvious. I think it's more poignant that way. And if you listen to the music, you'll understand just how important the OTP are to each other. I would like to see the actors continue their work together.
I'm watching it, on episode 5. I like this progression in their relationship and OMG, I did not expect to ship this ship so hard. Lee Jong Suk makes this an easy watch.
