I dropped this. The reasons are entirely shallow - the main leads did not interact until ep4, and even then, minimally. The palace stuff took too much time and was boring. Also, there was a character who got too much screen time and irritated me.
I watched this because it has high ratings and was recommended on Prince of Lan Ling's page. This is nothing like Lan Ling, and in the first 7 episodes, nowhere near as romantic. I got bored waiting and frustrated trying to stick it out to see anything interesting. The only think I liked was how the character of Xin Yu grew stronger, but that was full of plot holes too.
Anyone can tell me which drama to watch after Prince of Lan Ling? I liked PLL because of the numerous and chem-tastic scenes between Lan Ling and Xu Wu. I need another historical Chinese drama that is just as romantic.
Is the ending sad? Like does one of the lover die? Cuz if one does, I don't wanna watch it. If one of the other…
I looked through all the comments to see who dies in the end. Thanks for writing yours. I'm watching it and I like that she will die. It makes it more poignant - Xu Wu and Lan Ling Wang will forever be in love and nothing can separate them, not even death and history. Cool. If 4th Prince had died alone then she would have been lonely, heartbroken and probably have to marry someone else. It's better this way.
Been thinking for days on if to watch this drama, if t was worth it, if it was too long, or too harsh on our OTP. Your review convinced me to give it a try. Thanks.
This was funny and sweet, yet had a dose of realism as well. And the fairytale ending is also present. This was good to watch for when you're feeling a little blue and down on love. The female cast approached the issue of love like strong women whom I can relate to in this modern society.
