Well, it's not as good as the j version. But it's entertaining enough. It feels like they put less passion into making this movie. It feels more superficial then the j version. Like all topics were not developed as well as in the original..

10/10 really spectecular action, beautiful story, top notch actors...
but... how did he manage to be a wanderer for 10 years, when he so easily gets involved with other people's business and opium wars? oO

You do not make a weird romance out of MPD. That's a fucking illness and cause enough for inflicted to commit suicide. Hell it even says rom/com in the tag.
okay, so you probably have to approach this as a sort of switch rom/com and just consider his personality going back and forth as a humorous trait of the character... (erm no?) And worst off all, whatever personality is currently dormant, he's not off screen falling in love the 2nd fem lead (or worse, he may), but he still inside and it's unlikely that there is miraculous healing at the end, because MPD is not curable.
And then there is the open position of the fem lead. Usually I'd say HB can play with anyone and that is true, but that doesn't mean just anybody should play alongside HB. Please find a mature actress. No idol.
Can I ignore all that for you HB? T_T

Curious... I just saw you comment on my 'Boss&me' comment, and now I am here at one of my fav movies and yours is the latest comment. haha such coincidence. I've first seen f17 years ago, really way before I was even into asian films. And I have always loved it. Slightly exaggerared but so hilarious. I just wanted to rewatch... where did you watch it?

So divided about this. It's a really really really sweet drama, but Shan Shan is increasingly annoying me. Not your usual female lead annoying, but annoying in that I don't get the feel she is in a realtionship... I don't feel there is progress... :( oh no! but it's so cute.

haha tbh I like Jo Yeo Jung much better than the lead actress. Though that's just a personal sentiment ;)

Wouldn't recommed it. I thought the comedic part of this would be in a mermaid trying to cope in the human world, but what we have here is the teenage-behaviour of a spoilt missy who gets everything she wants. I have not laughed once (excpet for a smile in ep1). The fem. lead is unbearable (the character that is, the actress probably does a decent job). I like the idea, and adding scribbles and drawings and explanations into the picture is a nice touch but the characters are written so horribly plain and one-dimensional that I can hardly bear to watch without skipping.

Dear Mr. Yan I commend your work ethic, but could you please apply some critical thought on the scripts before accepting a role? There must be something seriously questionable about your frontal lobe if I see you acting another drama with a female lead with the acting skill of an oyster* and a script so unimaginative and chliché that my toe nails curl.
And someone fire that scriptor.
(*or maybe they were really capable. It needs a lot of talent make a charcter so horrid)

well ... after the preview for ep 25&26 I have decided to pick this back up. But I am still fast forwarding through it. I heartily dislike the plot, the characters and and just about everything else. Don't feel offended this is just my personal opinion.
But really, it seems no-one in this show is even remotely professional. How come this hotel has not gone into bankrupcy so far?

Now there's a man with a lot of cuddlery about his person. I did not expect the film to be so dark and gory actually. But I really like it! It's one of the best films I have seen in a while. Very good and coherent story line, brilliant acting and very well written characters. I greatly enjoyed this movie. Can recommend it without hesitation :D

well, just finished it and apart from the very ... challenging subs, the movie was not what I expected. It was comical (and not always in a good way), and the story was all over the place. Hardly any golden thread, loose ends and underdeveloped characters. Not as satisfyingas I thought it would be. :(

I am totally with you. I think it is a remarkable ability if an actor can portray different roles. This intense drama will be a difficult role and I am very glad, that he took it. The trailer already looks very good.
