So many straw man arguments in this comment section. As if legit criticisms are wrong bc people are expecting a "perfect" drama and this drama is just "too real" for the critics. No drama has characters without flaws. People going yikes to the red flags doesn't mean they're too picky and short-sighted for anything less than "perfect," it just means they are able to see flaws in the narrative.

Did someone read the webtoon of this show? Is this show pure a 19+-comedy or is there a deeper background story?…
I only read a few chapters, it was less 19+ and more like...17+. Not true hentai, but it not-so-subtley alludes to a lot of stuff and would be v easy to adapt into hentai lol

The synopsis says they met when she was 19...
Yes, I think they are going to use that age technicality to their advantage. Age-ing her up as much as possible while still maintaining the premise for their "meet cute" in the manhwa.

Oh Nari deserves a full-length drama. This was good for a webdrama but kind of unsatisfying if you're a fan of the webtoon (like me).

Koreans are 19 when they finish high school. Depending on if they are referring to her "Korean age" vs her "International/Western age" she might not be able to buy cigarettes bc the age to buy cigarettes is 19 international age which can be 1 to 2 years younger than their Korean age.

of this drama I like main leads all interactions, the nurse/assistant parts, the office interaction/characters…
Yeah, it's like those secondary characters exist for broad comic relief so they have broad characterizations, but then the devotes too much screentime to their scenes so they kind of fall flat. I don't rly even get why Dohee's deskmate's main characterization is that he smells?

I wonder if JCW read any of the manhwa or just knew the director, screenwriter, and general plot synopsis of the drama.

Title Dinner Mate Spoiler
I think is going to be like that about their real identities for awhile we have to ask someone that watched/read…
The webtoon is pretty simple and i actually like the drama a lot more. They meet at a restaurant where they both were waiting for a table and the hostess thought they were together and tried to seat them together. At first they were saying they were there alone to the hostess but were both hungry so decided to eat together. It's been awhile since i read the manhwa but iirc they meet by chance somewhere else and decide to exchange numbers to go out to eat together as just acquaintances. Dohee moved to the city to be closer to her bf of 8 years (i think) but he started distancing himself from her and broke up with her. Since she was relatively new to the city she didn't have any friends to call to hang out with her. Haekyung is an office worker who has resigned himself to be forever alone bc when he was a serial dater his girlfriends always ended up breaking up with him bc they say he's too distant and dispassionate even though he did try in his relationships. They tell each other this bc they decided to talk about their past relationships as conversation as they eat together instead of their mundane lives. They also agree not to tell each other their names. Gradually they go from random acquaintances to two people who look forward to their weekly meal together to people they hold dear and they end up finding excuses to see each other more frequently. At the beginning dohee wants to stay in touch with her ex and he comes around from time-to-time partly out of guilt but by the end she asks him to stop contacting her bc she has moved on. Haekyung goes from mild interest in dohee to realizing she is the best part of his life. At the end dohee says she needs to learn to be by herself (which she was trying to do at the beginning) and asks haekyung to stop contacting her so she can find herself alone and she will contact him when she is ready. During this time she realizes she is in love with him. Haekyung also realizes he is in love with her and is miserable without her but wants to honor her wishes so he doesn't contact her even though he wants to. They end up meeting by chance at a restaurant and he starts to leave at first but then goes back to find her bc he finally found his passion for love with her and she cries bc she was wondering why he never tried to contact her and she had thought he hadn't bc she thought he didn't care as much as he actually did. Like i said, it's been awhile since i read it so i'm kind of fuzzy on some of the details but it's a simple story and those are the main points. Iirc haekyung is an editor/ghostwriter but maybe i'm mixing that up with another kdrama. I do remember my favorite part being when she cooks for him. Also she only had one bf and he never went abroad. I know that's a looooong comment but hopefully it helped!

Ep 4 was dumb. Like the only parts that weren't creepy or weird or dumb were the like 15 minutes of total screen time the two leads had together. Those 15 minutes were flipping captivating though. Everything else was a re-hash of stuff we learned in eps 1-3. I really don't care about the exes enough to devote so much time to their weird pining. Hopefully next week they get back on track bc this feels like it could go down as a classic addictive romcom.

I really like this show, but I almost dropped it cuz its getting annoying how they miss eachother when they shoukd…
I agree. I wouldn't have minded it as much in ep 4 but most of it was just re-hashing stuff we already knew from eps 1-3. There was literally no plot point or characterization growth to the makeover. If that scene hadn't been in there it would have made zero difference. Hopefully next week the 2 leads will have more scenes together bc they're the reason this trope-fest is watchable and i want to keep watching!

In the webtoon they don't know each other's names for awhile but the whole PD/psychiatrist plotline didn't exist in the manhwa.

I don't like Jin Noh Eul, I don't get why she after whatever many year suddenly realizes she was in the wrong,…
Also Jae Hyuk's (and Noh Eul's) constant pursuit is starting to get into creeper territory.

lmao, the source material that this is based on is halfway to hentai. Now I have no problems with stuff like that,…
Seriously! The webtoon sucks and the storyline would fit right into a 19+ manhwa. However so many "based on a webtoon" dramas take a lot of creative liberty with how much they actually use the source material. Both Meow the Secret Boy and Dinner Mate added significant storylines and character traits that made them better than their source manhwas so hopefully this one does too bc basically everyone in this manhwa is garbage lol.

Watched both episodes that are already out. Second one was better than the first (I found LSH's hammy overtalking annoying). It's amusing enough but not a must watch or anything.
