Title Married
It's a stressful marriage and family life.
When I think of my own family I sometimes think it has parts like a soap opera, but when its happening around you can only make descions on what you know, My step-father was like the husband, my mum had 'everything' but had no agency in the end. It sneeks up on you,.

Title Gangnam B-Side Spoiler
It's based on real event "Burning sun scandal" the biggest scandal of South Korea in 2018 that shock the whole…
It just didn't go far enough. I have watched a couple of pieces about the Burning Sun, https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001n9kv

I think they reduced it to formula, Mask Girl was even a bit more raw.
In reality is a lot of the girls would not look as good, and sexual injuries are common, I have worked on gynae wards and looked after OD's and drug addicts.
ATM our area, which is mainly rural has the highest rate of deaths from synthetic opioids in the UK, they think from spiking and drug cocktails, and perhaps because we also have a lot of science based industry, so there are plenty of people with enough knowledge to make them.

This should be really bad, its just about got every trope in one pot, but its really good, Good script, good acting, all the charecters pushed almost to the edge of caricature, but its all done so well its completely believable. It gives me Perfect Marriage Revenge vibes, with better production values.
A cheer for the bad guys, because they really make this sort of thing.

Just completed, a bit disappointed really with the cliche plot and the fight set pieces. The 'working girls' too pretty when in real life you can see they are wired from 20 metres and shows on their bodies.
Just not as unsettling as Worst of Evil, where the fight scenes in that were very realistic IMO.
I do not like the neat end either, but on the plus side the main actors were excelent.

I’m not sure where this story is headed atm. I don’t believe in mainland China that stand up really exists.…
A lot of the most successful UK stand up, and the ones that can sell out big venues are based on obsevational humour, about family and general life, some do politics, but a lot don't, its more about human behavoir, Its possible to make a living and not be controverisal. Not everyone is Ricky Gervais( netfllix) who will have a pop at anything.
A lot of Asian UK stand up is often based on family, like the obsession of being a doctor marrying a doctor etc, or cultural differences.
I think its possible for Chinese stand up to travel, because as humans the things that make us laugh are basically the same. Mr Bean is culturally British, but the humour is universal. I often do a double take when he is used in a non UK show.
The Edinburgh Fringe is the battle ground of UK stand up, its where most get trashed or get great. My favourite stand up, Dave Allen , you can find him on Youtube, Irish but made fun of God and the Catholic church at the time of the Troubles, just sat in a chair with a drink and let the audience come to him.
On Later, I Laughed Dec 1, 2024
Binge watched eight eps last night, its one of the best thing I have watched for a long time. The handling of female charecters makes it relatable, non of the tropes of women being stupid or hysterically emotional,
The stand up is not that bad, I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was, so far no theme of the Asian parents which seems to be a commen one in Asian stand up
Unfortuately how women are treated by men, often like they have a brain pea, and the man in the relationship being seen as the rational and capable one still rings true. I buy everything in our home, including buying and selling the home, go and buy anthing and they still want to talk to the man, you verbally have to hit them over the head with a bat before they get who is making the choices.

Its not really as advertised, you start of with the light stuff, and then it gets heavy and complicted, I would say its a thinking watch. I liked it but I like complicated.

Well, in an audience that's 99% straight women and gay men, the interest is bound to be in seing m/m romance.…
Do you not find the depiction of girls/women in most of these dramas what ever genre annoying. They are usually totally self absorbed, live in a sort of fan fiction in their head about their 'love' interest, will not take no for an answer, deceptive, manipulative or the odd 'hero' female is supposed to put up or shut up to be seen as worthy to be 'saved' or loved.
When you find out a women has actually been the script writer I despair, its like the only sort of female characters are a bitch, witch or have severe mental health problems and they are only plot devices. Both of the FL in this, surprise, one has MH problems and the other is deluded or desperate.

My biggest gripe is non of the males are depicted as having feminine traits, not all boys/men behave like straight guys. My daughters male friends from the age of twelve the had the same interests as her, horse riding seems to attract men with what is seen as feminine traits, only one has a guy as a partner, In most of these dramas feminine is seen as a bad thing in a male, usually the character has all the spiteful attributes usually reserved for female characters or seen as weak.
Being seen as a 'tom boy' not such a bad attribute because you can either disguise your self as a nerd, slightly higher up the acceptability tree, or
change into the standard vision of femininity.
I skim female plots just because they are so poorly written, they make angry.

I think in that age group and in that situation you are discovering your emotions and sexuality, its not about just being 'gay', or not.

Today's episode was eye-opening, especially watching how different parents handled their teenagers' emotional…
I have watched a a lot of 'school' drama's over the last two years and I think this captures perfectly how uncertain you feel at that age. You are trying to fit in, starting to make choices and are often fighting your parents for what you want, even if you are not quite sure what you want.
I used to work in a school with this age group and for some school is their only safe space, but some have trouble fitting in, and what your peer group think of you is a huge thing because they have often known you for years and you feel your not allowed to become something different. They think they know you but you have changed, both physically and in how you think.
The good thing is if when you leave school and move away for uni or work, you can find space to reshape your life, and school life a distant memory

Difference is Americans don't really care what celebrities do. Majority don't stalk or obsess over them.
In the UK the people that picked over like this is the RF, and MSM encourages it for click bait. I think most UK actors and artists do not give a FF, Hugh Grant is a prime example. K, J and T actors unfortuately do not earn enough money from acting and rely on product endorsements so bad publicity is a real threat to their earnings,
I think the only way unfortuately is the law, the so called fans have no self control and live in a fantasy land in their head.

yup, I don't understand adoptive parents who hide the truth from their adopted children. Things like this can't…
I think of my family, divorce, babies born outside marriage, were all things of shame not to be spoken of, up to the 1960's. If you were an unmarried mother your baby was often taken, and you could end up in 'hospital' workhouse.
My mother has a still birth and even that was a secret

Queer as Folk Korean Version(any brits?)
Well if it is , I haven't watch QAF for a long time, I remember it as funny in parts. For anyone who is interested Viscious is now on Netflix, old{er) gay couple sharp comedy, filmed in front of an audience, outakes which are almost funnier than the script, on Ytube.
On The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon Oct 22, 2024
Its a good watch but almost in tone a film of two halves. Great action and humour at the start, and a commentary on what evil looks like, towards the end.
Ethan Juan, I had never seen him in anything else, has charm and screen presence, which is must in a story that is told from a villian's POV.

I have just finnished ep 9, and what I can not get my head around is no one really cares where she is or what she is doing. She could be dead in a ditch, and all they care about is how it affects them, which ever personality she is living as. Small glimmer in 2ML, but still self involved,
As reporters, where, what and why, ML goes to see the doctor, and says nothing, as far as we are shown, that she has gone off the radar. Suicide risk?? Its all about how it affects him basically, is it my fault? Stateing the blooming obvious, and the doctoe show no proffesional curiosty, open leading questions, why are you here, what do you want to atcheive?
Oh, and WTF do they show the younger women talking in staccato cliiped baby voices, like if you are young you are despirate to get any attentsion in the work place, and will settle for a loveless relationship.
Saying all this I love it.
The old ladies are just users/groomers, toxic.

Title Uprising
This was our Saturday night movie, and was great, I would not felt I had over paid if I had seen it in the cinema, it would have looked even better on a big sceen, perhaps we need a bigger telly.

No convuluted plot which made sense, a female with a role who thank god is not a love interest, great action scenes and fighting. A few uck moments , but not that gory.
The producers and directors skill showed, and all the acting great often casting outside their normal type cast. Nice to see two actors not playing a dad, again.
It would be interesting to know what it cost against the recent Disney flops.

What a great surprise, its got a proper plot, and some good action sequences.
Mark never ceases to amaze me in how he manages to transform himself.
