Very well-articulated review and your opinion syncs with mine. However, I am not a fan of the main characters…
Thank you :) and glad to know I wasn’t the only one feeling that way. I could tolerate the FL because she became less and less important as the story went on but yeah that was not a performance to be proud of. Taiwanese Dramas are often a hit or miss but this one unfortunately is a miss 🥲
I watched both… and no way… they’re sooo different. HTCC is much more plot driven and like a romcom. MY had a more chill vibe, didn’t have a love triangle, was less plot driven and one big difference is it was about unwinding, as the FL went there to take a break from life & work. The FL in HTCC went there to work and that brought an entirely different plot along.
Change of title & poster is such a downgrade for this drama 😭… now it doesn’t seem as appealing anymore. I don’t understand why cdramas always do this .. But let’s wait and see
From the post I saw they were in Taipei City, Taichung City, New Taipei City and a few more that I can't quite pin point. Although I think they only did it in August...
Not to excuse IF she really did it on purpose but tax evasion is something you can easily slip into especially in such a industry where you have to have a good accountant otherwise you‘ll accidentally miss out on due’s because nobody tells you what and when to pay.
She’s been managed by her family since 2020. I sure hope they got a professional accountant? And not just family members? Because otherwise this might really be one massive mistake that will cost her her career. I work in accounting and in 2022 I had a client that was overwhelming with her bookkeeping and didn’t pay part of her taxes for 2 years as a result (not on purpose). It was resolved with a lot of paperwork and a fine (+ a grace period due to the pandemic) but I can imagine in China this would have meant she could no longer have her business and possibly go to jail.
Every evening after the episodes aired the drama‘s weibo page posted a question for the viewer’s to answer…
Ep11: After many years you meet the person you once liked. What would you want to tell them the most? Ep10: Would you be jealous if you’re boyfriend/girlfriend had friends of the opposite gender? Ep9: How do you define boundaries in a romantic relationship? E8: Do you care more about the process of falling in love or the result (being in a relationship)? Ep7: How to keep a relationship fresh? Ep6: Unrequited love is to stay hidden. Loving from a distance and acceptance. What have you done secretly for your crush? Ep6: Can you accept your partner‘s desire to control? Ep5: When you have a misunderstanding with someone you like, will you choose to take the initiative to resolve it? Ep4: Are you the taking the initiative to attack in love (as in flirt and kiss them) ? Ep3: Would you choose the person you love or the person who loves you? Ep2: When you are in love, what do you do to show that you are jealous? Ep1: Will you develop a good impression of your suitor because you are moved (by them chasing you) ?
(and there were some more before the drama started airing)
what has the title have to do with the leads ? I only see that lady who had a cheater husband was the fake otherwise…
I think it’s more so a metaphor… on weibo the daily posts of the drama are all about being pretentious. So I think it’s about the business side, how everyone is pretending they know it all but secretly they have struggles. Even in the dating aspect- yeah he’s flirting a lot but it‘s been years since he had a real relationship… so maybe it’s "faking relationships until you make it to a real one"
industry, censorship and keep in mind that FL was almost banned , in meantime, so yeah,,,
I‘m not sure but she was the gf that Xu Kai Cheng cheated on (and therefore is still soft banned as of now). Also there were some rumors she lied about her age? Idk maybe it was something even earlier related to Go Princess Go as it was quite a bit scandalous.
I‘d pay good money to find out why it was held back so long when it was supposed to cash in on Go Princess Go‘s success 😂… it’s a stretch but maybe because the second season / spin-off "The Princess and The Werewolf" just finished airing and they thought maybe people will remember s1? … or maybe it was a last attempt lol
Read on Weibo that chinese Censor have removed two S*x scenes between leads. Apparently they were too hot to broadcast…
Yeah it was kinda obvious. First when they got together, he said she snored the next day in a unrelated scene so we know they slept together and a second time when he came back from the hospital after he met his goddaughter. Where she asked him why he has a bride chamber as a bedroom 😝… it also ended while he was looking at her 😏
