Not necessarily. There are a few connections in the beginning but the story happens at the same time as the plot from s1.

He was in a messy on and off relationship with actress Crystal Zhang, that turned into a scandal when a voice recording was exposed where he admitted to a "drunken mistake“ aka cheating on her. He was also exposed for lying to her that his agency didn’t allow him to publicize their relationship. He stated in his apologize "“I am too weak. I didn’t have any way to protect you. I really hate myself.”
His co-star from the yet to air (and might be canceled) drama "got a crush on you" was named as a third party and while this was proven to be wrong, the audio recording suggested he was a serial cheater.
That’s basically it. It’s been over a year now so I guess he was only soft banned…

he‘s a cheater… but if you separate the acting/character from the actor’s personal life I don’t see why we should hate on the drama.

I agree about the bias on this site but in this case it’s not MDLs fault that she wasn’t added earlier since mdl only adds people who have at least one credit. And since that was her debut (that wasn’t announced until the drama was released) it’s only natural that she wasn’t added earlier :)
