Maybe meant 'real mom' as Biological mom. Stepmoms are real moms too. Minjung did raise Seowoo. Like her own child, I'm not so sure. I would like to believe so.

I felt the disconnect too. :\ I still enjoy the series and hope for a happy ending for everyone: Minjung, Yoori, Ganghwa, and Yoori's family and friends. I just don't know how the writer will pull it off...
I do feel that foreign viewers empathize with Minjung a lot more (and forgive the writer for these disconnects). Korean comments on YouTube are in sharp contrast with foreign viewers.

Wondering the same thing. I hated her in Stairway to Heaven (her character's name was also Yuri there)! Not because of her acting, but because of her character - Yuri. (Yuri was antagonist in that drama). Now she's back in Hi Bye, Mama as Yuri (again). And this time, I love her character here! It's funny how I've first seen her act as a character named Yuri, and she's acting as Yuri again (same name, different characters, different dramas). :D She looks the same, honestly. Hasn't aged a day!
In hindsight, the sister-in-law marrying the brother was a good thing for Haejin. No amount of Yuri's pleading…
They've really made Hae Jin make a 360 turn around (sudden character development).
I feel it's hardly a lose for Yoo Ri. She always knew her father was a deadbeat. As she grows up, she'll realize that her mother also has the right to happiness too. Her stepdad-to-be(?) is also a very kind, caring person. She'll see that her mom is happier with Dae Goo and is treated right.
I hope the drama doesn't make Jin Sang and Hae Jin get back together. :I Jin Sang hasn't changed at all.
There are so many commenters complaining of age gap. They are well over 18; the brain is usually fully developed by age 25. People with a large age gap can fall in love, and have a warm, loving family.
13 year age gap between ML and FL is perfectly acceptable. I know a couple IRL with a 10 year gap (both are working professionals with respectable careers). You wouldn't be able to tell they had a 10 year age gap unless they told you.

Yeah :( The flashbacks kept showing Ha Jin saying it was all her fault; she couldn't even bring herself to say good-bye to her BFF at her funeral. It was likely an accident and Ha Jin blamed herself for it, so much that she couldn't live on without forgetting.
That betrayal wasn't from her husband alone, but from people (neighbor/friend/co-worker) she trusted. I can't believe they all aided and abetted adultery/cheating...

I wouldn't call this drama by MDL's title lol. It's not the first time they had a strange translation for Kdrama titles...... But I get their reasoning. They want the drama page to be found easily by people who watch using English adaptations. *shrug*
This is the second drama I've seen where they point out fairy tales' portrayal of step-parents and how it can be harmful to a child's opinion of step-parenting. @__@ It's an interesting take. I've never considered it to be a possibility.
