I don't deny the beauty of the cat eye makeup on her. I'm talking about having emotionless eyes that contradict her smile, making her smile look fake / forced. There's never any true joy. Her smiles look empty, cynical and bittersweet. If that's intentional acting, that's great. If it's not, then it means she needs to work on her expressions.

Lol I actually fast forwarded their lovemaking and kissing scenes, it just felt so awkward and forced.

OMG I haven't even mentioned the kissing and lovemaking scenes yet. Agreed I felt zero chemistry between them!!

I'm on Ep 27 so not there yet. But one scene done correctly doesn't help if 9 of 10 scenes are not done well.

I think you may not have looked closely at her eyes. A strong actor/actress can act out emotions through only his/her eyes. When I look at her eyes, they are empty.

I'm on Ep 27 and I can understand what you mean. Xu Kai's emotional acting tugs at my heart bc I can feel and see his authenticity. I can only describe Tian Xi Wei as nonchalant and emotionless, rather cynical too.

At first, I thought it was part of her character, but then I got confused bc she continued her fake, forced smiles with emotionless eyes throughout all the happy, romantic scenes with Xu Kai, even after their declared love and then marriage.

Why does Tian Xi Wei always have a fake, forced smile that never reaches her eyes? Her eyes remain emotionless. I don't know Tian Xi Wei well, so I don't know if this is her intentional acting (i.e., representing her character) or if this is her bad acting. Any opinions on this?

I got to Ep 14 and it's not dark. Still feels fluffy and light-hearted with not much plot. I've decided to drop it.

When does it start getting dark? I'm on Ep 4 and it has been fluffy so far IMO.

Story of Kunning Palace is one of my top favs!! Highly recommended!!

He's even colder in My Journey To You. I loved him in that drama-- he was so charismatic!!!

Also, personally I could only rate it a 9.5 at best, bc the female lead's personality was so annoying to me. I only stuck through it all bc everyone else was great (esp the male lead), plus this overused trope of entering into fictional world was executed in a unique and fun way that was memorable to the audience.

Rating usually goes down as more people finish watching it. Usually the ones who finish it first are the ones who loved it and rated it high. The ones who finish later will not be as impressed by the drama, so the rating will eventually reduce by 0.1-0.3 points.

Are all main leads dubbed or are they using their own voice?

Oh I didn't watch that, was it good? I've only seen dramas where he's the supporting cast.

Finally he's the ML, and it's coming on July 24th!!!
