Dang. This has got to be one of the most healthiest relationship I've ever seen in kdrama land. They communicate so well. I don't know how some find that aspect to be boring. Lol. I find that to be so refreshing really. We need more leads like this in kdramas.

I'm a silent watcher of this drama. I actually think it's alright. It's not that great nor is it that bad. It's the same feeling I had when I watched the writer's other drama, Beauty Inside. I started this drama a bit late, so kinda knew what to expect from the early reviews so I kept my expectations low on the logic of the plot. So I guess that helped a bit. I think the casts are what made the show watchable for me. It's pretty much the same as Beauty Inside for me. Watchable but don't really leave a lasting impression. The second lead couple in Beauty Inside did leave an impression on me but here, none of the characters did, unfortunately. I would probably recommend this to anyone but I would advice them to keep expectations low and they would probably enjoy it alot more that way.

The ship war here is nothing comparable to start up. Saying that, people are entitled to their opinion. I personally…
It's just that I noticed some people getting a bit aggressive with their opinions that's why (not just here but in other places) . Haha. Let's just hope that it won't progress to negativity because it will just ruin all the fun. I think its great to have and share differing opinions as long as the debate remains rational and inoffensive.

Also sorry to burst the bubble of SL shippers but he really didn't have a chance from the very beginning. So if…
Haha i agree about feeling like the love triangle here is being forced and pretty much unnecessary. But then again, i'm not even sure if it could be considered a love triangle simply because it is quite insignificant even in the original source. there needs to be competition when it comes to love triangles and here there's no competition at all because the ML is miles ahead and the SL isn't even an afterthought for Dam. SW's purpose in the webtoon, at least for me, wasn't to create a love triangle tbh because he doesnt have much presence in the first half (drama is pretty similar with this point). He became more present at the 2nd half with the introduction of the red string as a device or catalyst for WY to experience and gain human emotions of jealousy, sadness and desperation which is what is needed for him to become human. I mean since this is an adaptation and they could probably change it up and make it into more significant love triangle for added drama but i hope not because,as you mentioned, it would feel very forced and weak because SW's presence and screen time is far too little and not as impactful enough to establish a proper love triangle.

Umm don't tell me the toxic shipping wars are starting here? Can we please not ㅜㅜ I swear this always happens…
Also sorry to burst the bubble of SL shippers but he really didn't have a chance from the very beginning. So if you're watching thinking that the love line would be swayed now, unfortunately it won't.

I'm saying this because I actually noticed a number of people hoping that the red string might mean a chance for the SL and sadly my answer is no. As someone who have experienced countless of SLS before, I'm saving you from having high expectations and future disappointment.

In fact in the webtoon, despite the red string pulling them close together, Dam was kinda...annoyed to say the least. Lol. From what I remembered, she had to mention to SW countless of times that she has a boyfriend because he kept hovering around. & he'll be like 'I know you have a boyfriend but...'

So yeah. I'm not sure how the drama would portray this part or if they would ever show her annoyance.

Reading the webtoon made me appreciate Dam a lot. Girl is strong-willed and loyal. She knows what she wants and go for it. Her character is so refreshing!

Umm don't tell me the toxic shipping wars are starting here? Can we please not ㅜㅜ I swear this always happens when there's people who think they have SLS (or people noticing others getting SLS) and start unnecessarily nitpicking on the ML/SL to fit into their narrative. & then the other ship would of course get defensive.

This happened in Start Up and like yikes war flashbacks there. LOL.

I mean I get it, you can have your favourites but yeah let's not be nitpicky and toxic about it just to fit into your own narrative and elevate your favourite. This goes both ways btw.

As someone who has read past the red string arc of the webtoon, I say don't worry too much because...spoilers…
While it does play a role of bringing Dam & Seonwoo closer together (because well...fate) , Dam is unfazed by it because her feelings for Woo Yeo overrides it.

Also Woo Yeo and Dam would have more cute moments together regardless of that red string XD

RIP Seonwoo's feelings tho but it was also an arc that would serve its purpose of making him realise how bad he has been in the past with other women. As of now, he have not really fully understood how sh*tty he was in the past. He's feeling bad now only because its Lee Dam. If it was any other girl, or if he didn't really catch feelings with Dam, he would've still treated women as dispensable. So I'd say for those feeling bad for Seonwoo, you don't have to feel too bad because its a good arc for him.

As the drama so far has been quite fast-paced, I'm pretty sure it will be resolved quite quickly.

I love how the kiss started out sweet and then turned aggressive and scary. The directing and editing did a great job in creating that atmosphere with the fast, shaky cuts, intense close up shots and music change. It's letting the viewers know that the kiss wasn't supposed to be romantic, and that it was supposed to be unnerving.

As scary and unnerving it was, I find it really sexc LOL

I'm a little confused. I thought the reason he didn't take the marble out of his first love was because when the…
I think it's more of an unwritten/unspoken rule that if you were to take out the marble, you will need to erase any memories of your existence. Because leaving a human with supernatural memories of who you are will probably complicate things. So if they want their marble back, they must erase the memories as well. At least, in a Gumiho's point of view, they would want a clean slate each time they take back their marble from a human so that there won't be any unnecessary lingering attachment between them and the humans.

In Woo Yeo's case, I would assume that whilst he does want to keep Dam by his side for as long as possible like how it was with his first love, this time he recognized that it was greedy of him and thus do not want to repeat the same mistake again. And so his solution was to take out the marble before anything bad happens and erase her memories so that her attachment to him would be removed and she would not have any reasons to approach him in the future and get herself hurt.

Essentially humans are just not supposed to know of the existence of the Gumiho and it is believed that it should be kept that way. It is understood that in dramas and, in fact, real life that the greatest secrets have the greatest consequences. I would assume that the removal of memories would be to prevent any of these consequences from happening.

Ahh I love me a good slowburn romance <3

I'm enjoying this show so much and it's been a while since I got sincerely hooked to a drama. The last was Start Up but that was purely because of Han Jipyeong only while this one made me care for pretty much everyone.

Despite being a fantasy, I find the relationship/romance in here to be so organic and natural. It honestly surprises me. Because most fantasy dramas tend to make or emphasise on their romances to be the 'greatest love of all time' type of bs and have their leads kiss and proclaim their love for each other so fast that it honestly makes me cringe so bad lol.

Whereas this one takes its time to actually build the relationships and made the romance feel so believable! I could actually understand why they would fall for each other because of how their relationship grew from a friendship by having shared interests, good communication and understanding. It feels like a real relationship anyone would have (of course, if we ignore the fantastical part of it).

Some romances in dramas made me question why the leads fell for each other in the first place because sometimes they just don't make much narrative sense. So I'm really glad that in this drama, I could actually see the reason why they would end up liking each other and it makes a lot of sense for them to feel that way about each other.

Okay so now we know about the existence of Maegu(sp? The evil spirit creature gumihos might turn into once they've reach the 1000 year deadline), it kinda raises the stakes up. Because now we know that turning human isn't simply just an option for Woo Yeo anymore. He has no choice but to be human because there's a possibility of him turning into one of those evil creatures if he fails to become human and once his time is up. He only has a year to go so there's also a sense of urgency here. This makes the ending scene of ep 7 even more meaningful to me because he's not simply just taking back his marble, he took it out for Dam's life, safety and happiness even at the risk/cost of losing his own humanity. This again proves how much Dam's existence meant to him thus why he kept on emphasising on how she had become so special to him. Dam's life > his own life at this point.

This drama made me laugh out loud so many times and it has been such a long time since I've watched any dramas that made me laugh this much. lol.

The show isn't what I would call an amazing masterpiece. Plot-wise, it can seem cliche in a way and acting-wise, it's okay. But the enjoyability factor is A+! You literally don't have to think too deeply into the story. All you have to do is just sit down, watch, enjoy and laugh.

Also I kinda like how it doesn't take itself seriously and outwardly making fun of tropes that we're all used to. Like how in the first episode, they purposely made it to seem like it's gonna be a first love reincarnation trope only for them to turn it around with her just role-playing in the traditional costume. lol.

Another thing that I liked is the male lead character. Usually for these type of fantasy genres where the male characters have immortality and have been living on earth for so long, they're usually written to be cold, distant and jaded from all the years of living. So I'm pleasantly surprised that the male lead here, despite not having human emotions (since he's a mythical fox after all), is kind, warm, accommodating and smiley? haha. It's sorta a nice change from the classic cold-type characters.

Since some are bringing up kissing scenes, so I shall bring up my own thoughts. Honestly the lack of kissing scenes are a non-issue for me.

Being from a conservative country (while not technically a Muslim majority one), kissing scenes are pretty much non-existent in our shows aside from a cheek or forehead kiss. But hey, we made it work! The romances are believable and the chemistry are top-notch.

So yeah, I am one of those who believe that romance dramas do not necessarily need steamy kissing scenes. The story and the electrifying chemistry between the love interests are what made the romance for me.
