Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
Is there any love triangle in novel?
The novel has a reincarnation plot. So in her past life, she was married to 2nd lead guy. But in her current life, she ended up falling in love with ML. So whatever leftover feelings she had for 2nd lead switched to just her feeling sorry for him at the end because she had misunderstood him for a long time.

In the novel, it was more than a love triangle lol. Because it’s actually a reverse harem. There’s like at least 4 dudes vying for her love in the story hahaha

I’ve watched up to episode 5 and I quite like it so far! Though there’s not much Zhang Wanyi yet, but every time he appears, I’m just melting over his voice. & also I quite like Ren Min here because I find her character pretty likable and smart. It’s a breath of fresh from those usual dumbed down female leads. Sadly , I feel like some commenters here have some weird prejudice against her for some reason….i think she’s doing just fine. I swear people can be so unnecessarily harsh on female actresses…for having naturally higher pitched voices? This is like a Kim Hyeyoon situation all over again.

Also those who are freaking out about the possible ‘incest’ lol…..relax.

—- Possible spoiler for some? —-
They’re not related. In fact, they found out they’re not related pretty early on in the novel. Especially Shenyuan who was the first to know. Also I know that in the novel he said he loves Yining even before he knew but I don’t think he meant it in the way that he’s already in love with her when they were ‘siblings’ though. It’s more like he has affection for her from the beginning and cares for her deeply since she was the closest to him among the family. & when their dynamics changed (knowing they’re not related) and as the years go by, that affection he had for her grew into something romantic and ignited his possessiveness. I wonder how they’ll be tackling this in the show. There’s quite a change in the characterisation of the main characters. Yining in the novel is very naive (which is understandable due to her age) but here she is smarter and there’s a definite ‘feminist’ undertones to her character. Shenyuan in the novel is just ruthless through and through while here he is more morally greyed and seems to care about moral justice whereas in the novel, he’s just a full-on red flag and literally do not care about anyone else other than Yining. Definitely very different but I don’t mind the changes at all.

What’s the age gap in the novel and what’s the age gap in the show?
In the novel, their age gap was 7 or 8 years. Which is kinda icky if you think about it. Because in the novel, she was mostly 14 years old which makes him in his 20s already. In the show, they seem to be closer in age.

Oh looking at the teasers, i'm seeing some changes here from the novel. & honestly for me, i think that its a welcoming change. They seem to have lessen the age gap between the main leads. The childhood scene between them indicates they're not far in age. Also Luo Shenyuan seems to have a personality here which is great because in the novel, he was a character that was really hard to read.

I don't remember the original having a 'real' love triangle though? I think they'll keep it that way. It's probably gonna be a faux love triangle and I have a feeling we'll get a secondary couple in this one with the second lead and the female lead's best friend. Some of the promos were subtly suggesting it.

he's so good at playing red flags with depth. he made me colorblind tbh and made me end up liking his character even if they're questionable and morally grey lol. also he has a great voice. may he continue to always dub his own roles please!

I love the main cp so much. They're adorable! & love that they're both equals to each other and it has been emphasized throughout the show over and over again.

Hmm. It starts off decent? but ends up being a disappointment in the end for me. I end up not caring for any single character in here (maybe Kang Ha and his bro since they’re the underdogs and probably Hera at the end but there rest? I simply don’t care). Acting was kinda bleh too and I feel like only the actors for Kang Ha and Hera were good. There are other better shows with similar themes out there. Skip this and watch these instead: Pyramid Game, Weak Hero Class, Extracurricular, Class of Lies

Rowoon will be spending most of 2024 filming for Murky Water and the drama will only air likely in the 2nd half of next year. Not sure if he'll do anything else in between. Next year might be the last year he'll be active before he really has to be enlisted in the military in the following year (since he's gonna turn 30 then) so hopefully he'll have at least another project lined up after filming Murky Water and preferably something not historical please 😂 I would love to see him tackle slice-of-life type of dramas honestly or if he wants a bit more of a challenge, antagonistic roles! Actually, I believe that his character in Murky Water will be a sort of anti-hero, robin hood type of character so I think that'll be interesting.

There seriously needs to be a second season! It ended right when the time loop restarted and Hwan discovering his ability 😩 Also there were a number of scenes in the trailer that didn’t appear in any of the episodes. Refusing to believe that those are simply deleted scenes. Let me be a clown and believe that those are scenes after the time loop for season 2 LOL and season 2’s title is Begins ∞ Youth which we saw appear at the end hahaha. Honestly this show is just too good! Amazing acting from all the actors especially! As a fan of Signal and Weak Hero Class, this show kinda gives me the same feels I did when I was watching those. The same way as how I ended up caring so much for the characters to the point that when they hurt, I hurt too. As a longtime ARMY and have been fully invested in the BU for many years, I’m just really grateful for this show and am slightly upset for the lack of promotions and hype surrounding this. There’s just something about stories that revolves around found family and friendships that gets me all the time. Although it’s a bit of an emotional and ‘tragic’ storyline, I think it’s a nice break from all those romances I’ve been watching lol.

This show seriously hit the jackpot with its casting because omg. They are all literally so good! Each one of them have made me cry at least once lol. Such amazing young actors with a huge future ahead of them. Been wanting Seo Jihoon to have lead roles for so long. Let’s hope this will open up more doors for him

Wonder why the show was initially promoted as a 24 episode series. But we're getting 12 episodes instead. They probably decided against a 30min per ep format. Or... there's a part 2 when all the time loop shenanigans happen? LOL.
Based on each ep summary, I feel like the timeloop situation (basically the core of HYYH Seokjin's, or Kim Hwan in this case, suffering) would only start on ep 11 and 12. Which is literally the last 2 eps. How are they gonna conclude that? Unless, it's just gonna end with a cliffhanger and we will never know the conclusion to the HYYH universe

Had to drop this. I just lost interest after episode 11, unfortunately. I feel like plot-wise, it just doesn't bring anything new to the table. The whole past lives, psycho murder mystery storyline is a bit overdone in fantasy kdramas recently so I guess I'm just a bit tired of it. The acting (specifically ml) isn't that great either for me to hold on to. I love Yoojung tho but I think I prefer her in sageuks more for some reason. Maybe I'll try it again once the past lives kdrama trend is gone and I'm in the mood for it.

Filming apparently starts in February and Rowoon is still keeping his hair long. So I guess we can assume that he’s confirmed. & if he’s confirmed, pretty sure Seoham is too.

Congrats to Rowoon for winning Top Excellence award 🎉 as someone who has been following him since his sf9 days, I feel proud to be able to see him significantly improve in every project he does and how he’s not afraid to take on different types of role and challenges. I’m looking forward to his next challenge. It’s definitely a good time for him to take on more serious and meatier roles and Turbid Stream/Murky Water would be a good start. It can be a pity to some since it’ll be another historical but I think it’s a good opportunity for him to showcase his range since this is a more serious action sageuk in comparison to the lighthearted sageuks he has done. Hoping for him to be in a modern drama after this too. He still has 2 more years to go before his enlistment so I’m hoping to see more of him within these 2 years.
