Title Destined with You Spoiler
I think that Nayeon has a huge superiority complex and thrives over others feeling envious of her and giving her attention. Even from episode 1 you can tell that she has this desire of one upping others (her friend got married so she wants to get married too). Girl sees everything as a competition. She initially approached Shin Yu despite him being uninterested because he was handsome. In episode 5, you can see that she's really proud of being able to score a handsome boyfriend and was basking/enjoying the looks and attention they got from people. I'm not even sure if she even likes him sincerely because to me it feels as if she just wants a trophy boyfriend/husband that she can show off to others in order to increase her value. How she clings on to him despite clearly being able to see that he's not giving her the same amount of attention. Notice how she forcefully put Shin Yu in a position where it would make it hard for him to reject her (despite knowing how cold feet he gets when it comes to marriage) right after she saw him and Hong Jo interacting? She sees this as competition because she hates seeing Hong Jo getting the attention from the guy she's been trying so hard to get married to for 2 years and felt the need to one up her. Because if she was actually sincere, she would've taken into account Shin Yu's thoughts and feelings but she didn't. This marriage plan she has is strictly just for her. & in the preview, her trying to show off her relationship in front of Hong Jo says a lot about her intentions.

And better writing. The writing is abysmal.
I actually think the writing is fine to be honest. The premise is great. The dialogues are witty and meaningful. It goes against the usual norms of how a rom com is typically written. & the characters are interesting as well. I feel like this is more of a pacing issue for me. I don't mind the writing at all because I'm actually enjoying and intrigued by the story. I don't know but this is a case where editing and direction wasn't able to fully elevate the script/writing and pacing. There are plenty of dramas that have very substandard writing (and very meh storyline) but it's still enjoyable because of the choice of direction, editing and pacing. There are certain scenes that feel rather stagnant here and I think that's something that can be fixed with better editing to improve its pace. I'm still enjoying the story nonetheless. Just wish it has better pacing is all.

I definitely feel like this show could benefit from better editing. Other than that, I think the acting totally hard carried. Especially Rowoon.

I unfortunately dropped this. I'm a huge romcom person but now I realized that I actually like my romcom to have a bit more depth to their story. Thanks for the realization, show. It isn't bad or anything. I think anyone who loves light, fluffy romances with good chemistry between the leads would enjoy this one but for me, personally, I just prefer my romances to have more plot, conflicts and angst. This is just too dry for my liking. Also I think that this story would've worked better as a movie or a short 12 ep series ala Business Proposal.

For people who said he's a bad actor, they obviously didn't watch Rookie Historian Goo Hae Rung, and Hit the Top…
Personally I don't think he was good in Rookie Historian and he was just a supporting role with limited screen time in Hit the Top so there wasn't much to say or think of his acting there. I'd say Island would be the project where you can see improvement. I was actually hoping he'll take on diverse type of roles that would challenge him and help him gain some versatility (Island, being a good start) but alas, he's back to a romcom that is no different than his previous ones.

I'm definitely looking forward to this but I'm gonna keep my expectations reasonably low for now because I loved the original and I don't want to feel disappointed if it doesn't give me the same feeling I had. Especially since remakes can either be a hit or a miss.

I have to admit that the dialogues written here are really witty. I guess it's one of the screenwriter's forte. I noticed the witty dialogues in 100 Days My Prince too. Tons of wordplay although it might not translate well into English which is a bit of a shame. But if you understand Korean, you'll get it. Also a lot of pop culture references especially from Shin Yu's character. I'm calling it, Jang Shin Yu is a movie otaku lol.

So I’ve not been watching this show for a while now because I just can’t anymore lol. But I do watch the short clips on YouTube. I guess I will only watch the last episode next week just to see how they wrap things up.

Ok today's episode (ep 4) was really funny. I think the show has found its footing in this episode. The editing and pacing got a lot better. I think if they keep up with same quality as they did in ep 4, I would enjoy it a lot more. The problem I had with ep 1-3 (while I did enjoy it nevertheless) was its pacing because it was a bit all over the place so I wasn't able to enjoy it fully. It was really slow in certain scenes and the editing of the episodes also made the jokes/funny scenes fall a bit flat and does not feel as romcom-y as I wanted it to be. It doesn't help that the show is kinda dialogue-heavy and some things gets lost in translation if you don't understand certain things in Korean context (language and cultural). But I'm glad to say that episode 4 got a whole lot better. The dynamics between the characters also became a lot more fun thanks to Shin Yu's crazy antics. I like it when my arrogant male leads becomes a bit of a loser LOL. I guess I'm fully on board now after episode 4. Hope episode 5 onwards will continue with the same quality.

I realise that the scriptwriter definitely has a pattern/style to her writing. Even in 100 Days My Prince, it's very dialogue-heavy and the characters also have a fast-paced and deadpan delivery of quirky and almost outlandish lines. It's definitely either a hit or miss for some people. Some might find it cringey/cheesy as hell but as someone who's quite fond of eccentric rom coms, I found it hilarious.

Tbh, i never really understand when people complain when a character is flawed in the beginning of a show. Because the point of a story is for the character to have developments along the way. You just need to be patient. Without flaws, there wouldn't be a story 😅

Anyways, the reception in Korean community sites are quite good. It's actually interesting how different the receptions towards the characters were there compared to international viewers here haha. They actually like the female lead. I feel like international viewers have the tendency to hate on female leads too easily which is a bit of a shame. They also actually like that the male lead is cold so that there's time to develop and warm up his character as the story progresses. And they're excited for him to regret being cold towards the female lead once he falls (후회남 which is an endearing term they call for male leads in this trope). The only complaints I've seen they had so far is that it's airing a bit late and that its pretty creepy to watch lol and also the editing is a bit choppy in certain scenes. But other than that, they find the story fun.

I quite enjoyed ep 1. But of course ep 1 is more of an introduction episode to the characters and to set up the foundation of the story so you can't expect much and judge by just the introductory episode. But we do get the feel of the vibe the show is going for and I quite like it. The real story would probably start in the next episode or next week's. The feedback from the Korean forums has been positive so far too.

I just wanna say Rowoon is looking so good in this drama. I think the styling looks so good on him.

The tv ratings came out pretty low! Hopefully it picks up from next eps!
No worries. It's predecessor had similar ratings and literally ended with only 3% so I was expecting for it to be in similar range. I think it's a good start and has potential to pick up. We'll need to take note that its a mid-week drama that airs pretty late (10:30 KR time) plus on a cable channel. TGBM was an exception (because there's Ra Miran and Lee Dohyun who's fresh off The Glory hype) but the other dramas in this timeslot were pretty much only in the 2%-5% range.

The way I'm sticking with this because I just want to see Taekyung happy with Yeondoo and Haneul by his side. Everyone and everything else is ugh.

Quite enjoying this so far.
Isn’t the best show but its watchable.
I think the lead couple is cute. I feel quite sad for the second male lead.
But you know what makes me more sad? Seo Jihoon being stuck in second lead roles :(
With that charm and acting ability, I feel like its high time for him to be elevated for main lead roles.
I know that idol actors are more in demand nowadays but I hope talents like him won’t be overlooked.

does it have a happy ending?
In terms of the main leads, yes. They do have a happy ending.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. It's very addicting. Also glad that it has minimal romance because honestly, it's not needed at all. I guess this is quite typical for Wuxia tho, thankfully, since it's mostly about friendships and brotherhood. But I do find the secondary couple (Wu Jie and Ruo Yi) cute.

Honestly, I love this show. It's such a nice, comfortable and easy watch. It doesn't have any of those unnecessary nonsensical plot just for added drama. The chemistry and romance really drives the story forward. Tbh, I was iffy at first because of the supposed age gap between the main characters and the start was of the FL looking physically much younger than the ML (they had a child actress portraying the younger her). But ultimately, the ML only started falling for her years later when she's a legal adult. They are literally the definition of 'she fell first but he fell harder". The way his eyes are whenever he's looking at her is just...*chef's kiss"

If you like slice-of-life with a super cute romance and an amazing chemistry between the leads, watch this!
