Seems to me you're describing female-centered dramas then. There's plenly like that last year which I actually hated (The Double, Blossoms in Adversity) But there are dramas out there where leads are on equal footing or both imperfect from last year or previous (Are you the one, Guardians of Dafeng, To the wonder, SSStride). Also most xianxas are full of flawed female characters. Just pick and choose a poison I guess

Hidden gem and the rating does not reflect the drama at all and heard it's popular and rated well in China. Btw who's the director here? The directing and color grading of this drama is great

This is more serious than Gotd. Also it picks up quite later and the the only comparison it has with Gotd is that the main lead is full of backers

Anyway Ting Ye remains my favorite General ML just beside Ling Buyi from LLTG. Though ting ye might be misunderstood and annoying earlier on

conspiracy by the villain to put concubines in his household to disturb him, he drives them away (which he would've not done unless he went through this really good character development.)

Try Story of Minglan if you havent yet because Blossom is pretty much story of minglan w/ rebirth element. 73 eps but it's worth.
