TES is smothered in chemistry. And I don't even think SQ is that strong in her chemistry performances too - perhaps it's the way her characters are written (saw her in LSI1970s).

I started watching Us and Them but paused it after about 20 mins lol

I was choosing LoN for the bromance with SWL.
I have seen JBR's bestie BJT in The First Frost. I also jumped on the He Yu bandwagon this year so 2026 is vibin' with the yearners hahaha.

They gained physical satisfaction and intimacy. But that was it.
He was flawed and loved her in his own skewed way. She loved him but couldn't take an open leap. Their poor communication culminated all of their insecurities. His aloofness hid his care, her reluctance shielded her feelings of worthlessness.
I agreed with a comment that someone said, that her proposal came left of field and didn't make sense to Luke. Which I agree.
She only mentioned it cause her more older friend suggested she ask for what she wanted.

But like they said, it was her bucket list - not because she loved him. Or she didn't explicitly say it.

I haven't seen WJY in many dramas, and honestly, not sure how I feel about her stoic demeanor. Ironically, the age gap is the same with Li Qin in FH, but I bought their chemistry a lot more. Perhaps it was the storyline plus had more episodes. Also, the billing issue that came about in the early stages of their filming cast a lens too. For me, I can feel when CZY has chemistry with the FL or not. There, I did not feel it lol.

I didn't buy RB's relationship at all. It seemed forced. And *spoiler* the ending was like WTH.

Thanks for your honesty. I started Sunsets, Secrets and Regrets but might pivot to League of Noblemen actually. So far, JBR has captivated me here most!

I stayed (and skim watched) RB purely for CZY. I didn't feel it from them honestly. I was hoping for a Fated Hearts type of intensity that I never felt. I didn't buy WJY's romance with him either. So awaiting Chasing Dreams.
Few things to look out for, but I am likely going to go through JBR's filmography after this.

Everyone's tastes are different. A drama can be ranked high for the plot development, not that the characters are PERFECT. In fact, if the characters were perfect, then it wouldn't make for much of a storyline at all.
Perhaps, it's many factors, acting, performance, visuals, plot development, etc.

Agreed. They are both extremely flawed. In a previous comment I said the same thing.
Their insecurity plays out in different ways. And in ep 18, her monologue calls it out perfectly.
They're not aligned, based on their upbringing etc. And she realises this in year 4 together. They get back together and this carries on for another two years (remember, she acknowledges that she was addicted to him, and their twisted love meant she couldn't leave him) until the emotions reach the climax and she leaves him for 3 years.
Then our boy the yearner is awakened.

He was openly salty about it. She called him "Luke" so in the later scene when she was drunk and said "Luan Nian, you're a jerk", her ex was like "Who dat?"

So when Flora walks into Luan Nian's hotel room to practice (our boy was sulky af), he sarcastically called her "Flora".
We didn't miss our ML's saltiness there!

She alluded in the very opening scene that she was 'addicted' and he awakened a desire in her. She'd had previous encounters with her ex-bf, but never like with Luke.
They both were very lustful and their physical intimacy played a big factor in it. Plus, the sexual tension of it being a secret likely contributed to that.
In the drama, they depict this tension pretty much from the cliff save in ep 3, and feelings developed later on (in the novel it's purely physical for a long time).

It's because in her mind they're never really a 'couple'. Initially, they were FWB, but because she was never open she felt this 'invisible wall' (which she later mentions) between them. They're dating, but not really.

Yes I have seen that.
Cfans really need to chill. It's terrible, but at the same time I am not surprised.

Fortunately, JBR and LW are mature enough, and this is exactly the reason why they've never openly admitted their relationship in public, despite public displays of affection (holding hands etc).
Cause Cnets and the media can be cray.
Hope this double-edged sword of popularity doesn't affect them.

They’re both terrible communicators. And insecure in their own ways.
She feels like she doesn’t deserve his love nor wants to bother him, so always hides things where she needs help. She’s also drastically afraid of losing her job or seeming like she slept her way to the top.

He’s also insecure in an arrogant way. He doesn’t show grandiose gestures and has a love avoidant nature due to his upbringing. He does things BTS, never seeming overly committed or caring. It’s also a self protective mechanism when you care too much. If you don’t show that you care, you can’t get as hurt.

When we see glimpses of Luke’s softness, Flora and the entire The Early Spring fandom melt like putty.

He was also getting all his needs met. She had more to lose than he did from the very beginning.
THAT was the true imbalance of their relationship from day dot. As much as I love-hate Luke, he had no real reason to challenge the status quo.

Work was good. His friends knew her. He was not close to his parents.

It was his own aloof way of saying he recognised she deserved and wanted more - and had clearly seen other men treat her better too. It was a mix of jealously and self- realisation.

Girl. If these two could communicate better, we wouldn’t be on this emotional roller coaster to begin with.

I’m waiting for their mini reunion in ep 19. How we are going to magically catapult another 2 years until their big breakup and then 3 year later reunion in 5 eps 🤪
