My hunch is that since weāre almost at the half- way point, theyāre going to give into their suppressed feelings and get back together shortly. Especially since his back hug changed the dynamic more than a ārandom lapse whilst unwellā. But as their love transpires, layers of secrets and untold truths come to light. And Mr Zhang etc try to use Miao Jing as bait for Chen Yi to act. The bone to the wild dog.
Still no sign of the 2ML though? Besides a random video call.
SHE IS DRIVING HIM UP THE WALL AND IAM HERE FOR Iš¤£š¤£T
The whole house selling + waterworks + Iām unemployed + throw out my high school photo literally GOT UNDER HIS SKIN! poor boy Chen Yi thinks heās boss but little Missy Miao Jing is playing him like a fiddle ššš
A lot of people say that but I actually prefer that it didn't dwell on the fire scene for too long. They will uncover more of what happened in the 'present' 2011.
Wen Jie is starting to clue on to their not-so-platonic-siblingship to it being more of a romantic relationship. Kang An, who is usually more of a clueless male is catching on too. ahha. It's so obvious when Chen Yi and Miao Jing are so sweet together! Even Linda can sense it...
It's called they both matured, and likely they made it a year later so MJ was 18 and more *legal, making it more appropriate. Feelings fester and grow. He's a hot blooded young men in his prime too...so these things are not linear...
No he doesn't. I dunno how to spoil you. He's just like how he is in the first episode.
I think it was one of those "when time is missed" moments in life. He really wanted to, but when he got blocked by his dad and things happened (death, scams), he missed that opportunity in life. Which ends up as to why he works in the "club", and how their futures transpire the way they do.
I love how little or maybe no filter here. very realistic and fit the vibe.
It gives homage to the time period but also less makeup/filters mean you ACTUALLY see their expressions more etc. Plus most actors have flawless skin anyway, so its good to see them as real people. My grievance was the mechanic scene where SWL is in a t-shirt and his arm is so skinny >.<
Haven't watched this yet. Will there be any time skip?
It goes from 2002 through to 2003 and then quite swiftly through 2004-2005. Which is where the CP part ways. They reconvene in the 'present' which is 2011. Miao Jing is about 25 years old then, and Chen Yi would be 27-28.
It is yu zheng his former boss who started the hate train on his acting to discourage people from Loving him but…
Yeah I had heard of the that the Yu Zheng - SWL drama but not sure why YZ hated on him - he usually pushes all his stars so much.
This is only my second SWL drama, so I can't comment from extensive experience, but I have appreciated his performance here as Chen Yi compared to the other role I saw. Again, likely due to the depth of CY but also through SWL's growth I'm sure.
Reading the novel was not a good experience, their relationship is shown to be dysfunctional, toxic and violent,…
Thanks for sharing. Part of this is likely due to censorship as well. They also want to paint societal issues in a certain way. And also for this storyline to be attractive to mainstream audiences.
Iāve not watched too many SWL dramas, but I know he has been called stiff and wooden in previous roles. Weāre only a quarter of the way through and I must say Iām impressed by his performance as Chen Yi. Perhaps the role calls for more from his delivery too. Thereās more nuance and layers compared to other characters heās played. He also reminds me of someone from certain angles. Canāt quite put my finger on it (not sure if itās in cdrama or KDrama landā¦and not ZLH btw).
Overall, she's not a great mom.

Did his dad do something to Miao Jing....? š°
Or was he referring to his own abuse from his dad? Novel readers enlighten me...
