I have watched up until the end of episode 5 and I found LXY's transitions all very natural (as in he makes it look natural!). When he is not a raging black flag -he is just stoic, calm and princely. He can be a bit cold but it suits him. He is beginning to warm up to the FL and you see him being less manic but it's all very natural and appropriate. FL is also great as well! She has some very kooky moments but she does it so well. I can't fault any of the main leads acting. Everything they have done so far has been great.

Yes, but I guess it's also in the delivery. It's how they act these parts out individually and together. That is the key because a lot of those scenes can be awkward for actors but these two do it so naturally.
Just realising now these two actors have rip-roaring chemistry together because they give 100% to every scene!

They both gave 100% in that kiss!! It wasn't just knocking lips together either it was a LONG passionate kiss too! It looked really good as well! Like you said it wasn't vulgar or awkward. Also in filming that scene they would have had to hold that kiss much longer to get all the angles. I wonder if there is a bts version of that kiss?? 👀

I am with you on that one! Even though I LOVE Duke Su it's very easy to play the sweeping hero in beautiful robes who is perfect at everything (still love him - love his acting). As an actor it's more of a challenge to play a morally grey character, who pretends to be pompous and cruel but underneath all that he is genuinely a good soldier. LXY almost takes the character to a manic level AND yet you still love him! This role could have been disastrous with a less skilful actor but hats off to Liu Xueyi - he is killing it! Miles above Duke Su - BUT I LOVE THEM BOTH 😭❤

Dai Gao Zheng is always a great filler in btw the standard cdrama. You can always count on him to play a red flag. This series is a lot of fun to watch and doesn't require too much concentration. I am watching this along with Liu Xueyi who is playing the ULTIMATE black flag in the gritty & gory, Kill Me Love Me - I am very happy right now!
