After watching The Long Ballad & a bit of Love Like The Galaxy, Wu Lei is now one of my favourite cdrama actors. I still stand by what I said about TLB (for me) the 2nd couple had more chemistry but that was most likely a script thing & Liu Yuning is also one of my favourites! I am watching Nothing But You atm! I am only up to the 2nd episode but I already love the fact he is given more screen time & his acting is great as usual. I am looking forward to seeing more. 😊

I have put this on hold at the moment. I am in the middle of episode 12 & I just lost interest. It's strange because I like the plot & I LOVE the characters but something is a little off. I find my attention wandering a little! I am usually A HUGE FAN of political intrigue, court shenanigans and red flags! I have no problem with the male lead being a red flag....I think I just have an issue with Ren's performance. I... It just seems a little flat to me. I usually have a very hard time trying to continue a series if I don't like the ML's acting. It feels bizarre to me because I love his character but I find the acting a bit dull. This is my first time watching him so I am willing to give him another chance. I am going watch another drama and come back to this a bit later.

Just watched the first episode and it was absolutely spectacular! The quality is amazing for an idol drama!! This was gritty, intense & thrilling. I am not sure how long this will last but definitely invested for now! ❤

I just saw the new trailer on Tiktok and I have to say it looks FANTASTIC! The colours, the comedy, the acting and the effects are fabulous. Looks like everyone worked really hard!! As an international viewer I just want to say thank you to all the lovely translators out there who quickly go to work so we can all enjoy the new trailers when it comes out. I am so happy for Liu Yuning & Li Yitong they both work so hard! Just so incredibly excited for this series ❤.

He was really good in Legend of Anle! That series deserves a higher rating! I have seen Gong Jun before Word of Honor and he can play a cold CEO very well!! When it comes to Gong Jun I feel like he needs good direction to perform well. He has a wide range of expression but he needs to stay away from immature characters if you ask me. The Wenkexing character was a perfect mix of playfulness and a powerful ghost villain who was a red flag. It suited Gong Jun's personality to a tee.

I have only finished episode one but it was already a delightful experience! The acting was great, the comedic timing was hilarious, the plot was intriguing and the execution of the storyline was steady and easy to understand. I was thrilled to see Wu Lei again after watching the Long Ballad. There are some fascinating characters in this series. I know it's still early but looking forward to seeing more!

I was thinking did Chu Yue die as well and she was seeing this in the afterlife. It's so sad to think they never got to create the family they really wanted. A Journey To Love was my first introduction to Liu Yuning as well so that ending absolutely destroyed me! 😭😭

It's good news with Song Zuer returning to social media. Hopefully it means her films can now be released too. ❤🤞

This is the series I am most excited for! Liu Yuning & Li Yitong are such adorable dorks they would be so cute together! ❤🥰

I have never seen the anime so the characters and the plot is completely new to me. You are thrown into the deep end right from the start and just expected to keep up. I started to get my head around most things from episode 5 onwards. I really love this series! Yang Xuwen, Liu Yuning and Zhang Mingen are great as the three leads. I love the political intrigue and the humour! ❤

My understanding is there is no bromance here. More of a sworn military brotherhood between the 3 males and a deep friendship. All of them have their own romance with female partners though.

Just finished all 49 episodes! I am always happy when a cdrama has a good ending! I would liked to have seen more chemistry btw the two leads b/c of the little they showed of Wu Lei being vulnerable he was FANTASTIC! Dilraba is always great to watch this is my 2nd time watching one of her series & she always makes good shows. Liu Yuning & Zhao Lusi were also great in this series! All in all it was a very enjoyable show & loved ALL the actors. A solid 8 from me. 😊 ❤

UPDATE : I now agree with ppl who say that the 2nd lead couple have better chemistry. I still love our main leads (very much!) but the 2nd lead's interactions seem more intimate BUT you have to wait for a while!! Any type of meaningful and prolonged interaction btw the 2nd leads does not happen until the end of ep 26 & onwards!

I am at episode 17 and now I understand why it is called the Long Ballad! Originally I came here for Liu Yuning & Dilraba but now I am staying for the entire cast & the storyline. I have only just felt a connection for our main leads (Leo and Dilraba) as a couple at ep 16 and it is EARLY days yet! And the 2nd lead couple are yet to make an impression on me so far. It is 49 episodes long and there are a lot of 'players and plotlines' in this series and an abundance of political intrigue and battle scenes (which I love).

If you would like to watch a cdrama with no love triangle & no cheating watch Unchained Love with Wang Hedi. Same ML as this one but the series is much better (in my opinion). The relationship is mature & the acting is A LOT BETTER. I think you'll enjoy it :)

UPDATE: Finished the entire show and it was FANTASTIC up until the end of episode 32! The death of Princess Anning & how she died also ruined Liu Yuning's character for me. The next remaining 7 episodes went downhill from that debacle & I was so upset because I LOVED THIS SHOW and the 4 main leads: (Crown Prince, Luo Mingxi, Ren Anle & Princess/General Anning). So it ends at a solid 9 but this could have been perfect!

This is probably my favourite series with Wang Hedi. He is a lot more mature in this role than any other character he has ever played. I could not stand him in Meteor Garden and he was scripted badly in Only For Love AND his co star in Love Between Fairy & Devil was very limited in her acting ability. For me Unchained Love is the series where he improved the most and the two main leads have a mature relationship. I hope to see him in more dramas like this in the future because he can certainly act when given the right roles & directed properly.

If that's what you find funny then good for you! At least you could get some enjoyment from it. Most ppl have commented on how bad the script writing is so it's not just a personal thing. I know even Bai Lu mentioned something about it. I have seen Wang Hedi in much better roles than this. Remember they are not teenagers they are adults. Adults don't behave like that. Some people will find it funny while others will think it's cringey.

I am at episode 19 (almost half way) and I have to say this is a gem and deserves a higher rating. I came for Gong Jun & Liu Yuning and decided to stay for Gong Jun, Dilraba, Liu Yuning, Princess Anning (Xia Nan), the plot & the OST. The rest of the support characters are great too. I honestly had the lowest of expectations and maybe that's why it has surprised me. It unfolds gradually and it slowly reels you in with its charm. Liu Yuning is a stand out and this is my first Dilraba series and I absolutely loved her. She was quirky, charming, openly flirtatious and overall very entertaining! Our main 3 actors are all in their 30s so I feel like they guided the show to its success and I am happy to say the plot is not overly complicated. It's clear and executed well, you know who the characters are and it's not confusing. It just got the basics right -- which a lot of Cdramas fail to do!!

Update : 13/09: Boys Over Flowers was my first introduction to kdrama and it's an absolute classic. I wanted to watch the Chinese version because I have converted to Cdrama this year!! But I must say Meteor Garden is complete nonsense! I am proud of myself for actually making it through ALL 49 episodes and keeping my sanity intact!! 🤪

Watching Meteor Garden again and hoping to finish it completely this time. Got up to about episode 16 my first time around. I do like Wang Hedi (especially now since he has gotten a lot better) but I couldn't stand his character in the earlier episodes. His hair and clothes were ridiculous & it was hard to take him seriously. I love this series and have also seen the Korean & Japanese version as well. Lots of people say the Chinese version is the best. Lets see how that goes!
