Zhou Xin Yan....she's plunged into the river of evil ship breaker/selfishness
I feel bad for her tbh. This is my least favourite drama trope, as if two females are incapable of being mature and friendly if they like the same guy...

Just confused, what scenes differ between TV + raw cut?
just to show you an example:
ep 18 TV https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6nlbqv
ep 18 DVD https://www.dailymotion.com/video/k3AbMHxV8HAMhvreybT

They're at completely different points in the show, you see. Because after broadcasters purchase broadcasting rights, they're allowed to cut/edit the original as they see fit. sometimes they really butcher shows :/ it's always better to watch the versions without tv logos, they're higher quality anyways.

well... the only reason I watched this was for Wang Ou so I've been skimming the eps and keeping up with it and now it's done. i have never read the novel, but I looked through the wiki, and the show is really different.

The acting leaves a LOT to be desired loooooool (even my bb Wang Ou who i love lots but seriously girl... you can do better). And then there's Hawick Lau, hasn't he acted in like 3948545 of these types of shows? LOL and he's basically the same character in all of them, you'd think by now he'd be good at them... Story-wise, well, it's your typical wuxia fantasy show, the plot points are exactly the same every time, nothing special there. The ending was weird, to say the least. I really enjoyed some of the costumes & scenery. A lot of the fight sequences looked SO awkward xD Overall a very cookie-cutter show amongst cookie-cutter shows tbh, and there are better cookie-cutter wuxia fantasies out there.

Where did you guys watch ep 10? I can’t find it ????????
Watch from chinaq.de if you scroll down, I provide the direct link. If you search DM, you will be confused because there are two versions. This website has the 1080p version. HunanTV rips are low quality and pixelated

Ling Ling Qi's parents' convo about male/female leads at the end of ep 10 kills me LOL sometimes i feel like this show is just super satirical and meta about cringey fangirls and romcom's by making its main character a cringey fangirl in a "typical romcom" - it's literally making fun of itself.

Wow, Yu He Wei, Wu Xiu Bo... great cast. Also I checked Baidu, there is a female in the main ensemble as well, for some reason she isn't listed xD

The first episode was a literal cringe fest. The writing is weak and the acting from the supporting characters…
It improves from ep. 5 onwards because Ling Ling Qi evolves. I found her character incredibly cringey in the beginning, but you'll see, things change. LLQ from Ep. 10 is a far cry from Ep. 1, though I won't say how. If you're looking for a high quality modern Cdrama though, I dunno... this is an intentionally light-hearted not serious at all drama with a lot of comedy (especially in later eps) including jokes with word puns and pop culture references. so far I think it's sticking to its niche well. I am weirdly enjoying this lol I don't even know why. it's just fun, i guess. this is the complete opposite of the kind of show i usually watch.

note: there are two different cuts of this drama. one is 45 eps, one is 48 eps. 45 eps = TV cut. 48 eps = high quality original cut. some of the raws sites are mixing the two up which makes for confusing viewing.

http://www.chinaq.de/cn/cn180625b this website is releasing only the 48 ep cut as far as I know. as you can see, they are up to ep 7 already when the TV cut is still at ep 6.

having seen the first ep raw... fyi, Deng Lun's character's name is Bo Hai, not Bai Hai.

One of the better dramas of the season so far. Wan Qian is a great actress. I like that they use Shanghai accents sometimes, which makes it much more immersive

wu xiubo with tang yan wtf LOL. i've gotta remember to check this out just because i seriously can't imagine these two pairing off as leads together.
On The Way We Were Jun 2, 2018
i am watching this raw as it comes out and am up to the latest episode. i think tiffany tang/luojin fans should just skim the first few eps, then start watching from ep. 30 or so.

the reality is this show requires a shit tonne of patience. i don't care about tiffany tang or luojin or their romance, which is probably why i have an easier time watching this. there are many side-stories (think grey's anatomy), which i actually appreciate. in most cdramas, all the other characters exist only as caricatures to support the main characters. they're not even like real people, just cardboard cutouts. i personally think the 2nd female lead's story is the most worth watching. she's been my favourite so far, and the girl who acts her is doing a fantastic job (and she is a decade younger than tiffany & luojin.) she's the reason i've kept watching, cos i just want happiness for her. :c

all that said, there are many flaws with this show, and the writing/dialogue could be a little tighter, with much less violin music (i stg it's like full on concerto for 10min at a time lmao), the english dialogue is LOL (also i am wondering why tf the non-asian actors they used didn't like.... tell the director when their lines make no grammatical sense.....) buuut... it's a cdrama so *shrug*
