I don't reckon we will be seeing City of Desire or Nameless Detective in the near future (or ever) since WXB has been blacklisted. The Drug Hunter is getting taken offline from Chinese streaming sites.
here is my "pacing guide" for this drama:eps 1-20 is mostly setup (cos it's not a real c-drama if it's actually…
forgot I was gonna write spoilers for this show~
- happy ending with additional 1yr time jump + proposal - most things are revealed beginning from episode 31 onwards (there are lots of things to reveal, such as Mr. Chen/Mr. Mei's true motives, some of the side characters' real identities and so on) - meiheng's death was not an accident, this is the major revelation in ep. 31 that starts to roll the story into its climax - the kiss is in ep. 40, but there are many things before it, the few eps before it are kind of emotionally intense (for this kind of drama i mean). - trigger warning for suicide attempt - this is a redemption story i guess, i don't think any of the characters are actually evil, my blood pressure didn't rise watching this at least.
here is my "pacing guide" for this drama: eps 1-20 is mostly setup (cos it's not a real c-drama if it's actually short & sweet haha...) i'd say real plot starts around ep 17/18ish. in eps 20-30, lots of shit happens. 30-40 is sort of the climax/consequence stage. 40s is resolution stage.
+ ML and FL are both nice people. It's male chases female, poor man/rich woman. ML is cheerful/funny, FL is the angsty one. ML and FL both help each other. no real love triangle. I'll add some more stuff in spoilers for the skimmers.
Saw the first ep, plot seems unique & I love road trips. Cinematography is really beautiful for a Cdrama; also, the director is award-winning. Apparently, the crew actually traveled across China to film this, so I hope to see lots of realistic Chinese provincial scenery. It'd make a nice change from other modern dramas that are filled with fake chaebol aesthetic P:
I swear, every time I see a new drama with Zhang Ya Mei and Hans Zhang, I get excited, and every single time Zhang Ya Mei is in a support role :( they've worked together 4 freaking times lol
I’ve been watching kdramas for the past 10 years and I honestly prefer the newer ones compared to the ones in…
I started watching kdramas 20 years ago and back then I couldn't get any of my friends into them. Then, 10 years ago they suddenly started going mad over BoF--not only them, but literally everyone around me who I never expected to care about Kdramas. So I decided to check out the hype & I was like... of ALL the dramas out there, THIS is the one that got everyone into them? wtf???
well, I saw people saying that this is going to be a feminist drama but we'll see. I'm always iffy when a Cdrama claims to be feminist. if there's girl on girl hate between the two female leads or some dumb immature love triangle, I'm out. the trailer looks not as bad as I expected tho, I'll be honest
Interesting article but firstly the title is misleading when you only discussing about kdrama. Please don't get…
Being unable to differentiate people from different races is actually called the Cross-Race Effect. It doesn't only happen to westerners, it applies to every group and sub-group of people in the world.
Though the point remains. It's okay not to be able to tell different Asian ethnicities apart as in "I literally can't tell them apart", but it's not okay to genuinely believe "they all look the same."
hey guys, this drama is coming out on 11th April on Youku and it will be on the YoYo Youtube channel on the 14th, so be on the lookout for potential subs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83Ct8tjzWm4
Liu Jing, screenwriter of Romance of Our Parents passed away on March 30 due to cancer. Liu Jing has another drama "Young Army Officer" that hasn't aired yet. Daylight Entertainment's announcement on Weibo: https://www.weibo.com/5454792550/Ho2jDaPKY?type=repost
sigh, I miss YR as a lead :( Yuzheng is honestly holding her career back at this point, wish she would leave him... side note: yang rong has acted as the love interest of both leads of Guardian hahaha (Bai Yu in Memory Lost, Zhu Yilong in My Love to Tell You) and is good friends with both~ my dream is to see the three of them in a drama together, preferably not in a love triangle but just as BFFLs.

I can't wait to watch this, and I love modern historical dramas!
