What was the point of Na Wang Shik? He didn't get his revenge on the two main people responsible for his mom's…
I can explain all of this because I was watching it as it aired:
The original main male lead of the show was Choi Jin Hyuk, while Shin Sung Rok was clearly the most evil villain. At this point in their careers, this is what these two actors were best known for. Na Wang Shik was absolutely supposed to get his revenge, teaming up with the female lead and ending up with her romantically. However, Shin Sung Rok's stellar acting and screen presence slowly led audiences to enjoy his character more instead. His surprisingly good comedic timing had the writers of the ongoing show change course, giving him more screen time, more comedic scenes, and eventually softening his character.
The insane show was meant to be 48 episodes, as was written in Choi Jin Hyuk's contract, but was so popular that it was extended to 52. Due to scheduling conflicts, his character was hastily written off the show and Shin Sung Rok was pushed into the male lead slot instead, with a more sympathetic ending for his character.
It was a ridiculous chioice but the plot was ridiculous anyway. It really demonstrates how the crew of an ongoing drama in South Korea will change course based on weekly feedback from audiences and unforeseen circumstances.
She used yoo min(?) to play the Tetris like game even when she lost the focus for her own set, and she used seungkwan…
Seokjin and Shiwon weren't trying to control anything through alliances in the animal game; they were playing individually and making their bets quietly. They were upset that everyone else was just telling Orbit their cards and letting him strategize instead of foguring things out themselves. Shiwon did help Yeonwoo when she got the chances previously but Yeonwoo never went to Shiwon to truly team up with her and instead stayed more with Orbit's side.
Came here for Kim Young Min but I'm staying for Lee Hak Joo. I somehow don't care for any of these other characters and Seohyun is just putting on a fashion show 90% of the time.
It must have something to do with the English translation of that one scene (when the Doctor gave Heesungs files…
The military service is only important in terms of not revealing that BHS is in a coma. Revealing this would contribute to the fact that they don't want their family to be exposed as having any issues because the Director's position would greatly be affected. What kind of doctor can't even treat his own child? What kind of director doesn't have a successful son with a loving family? These questions seem silly to us but almost anything could be used as a weakness to kick him out of his widely coveted position of power...I mean, he's a director in a large hospital, which is a pretty big deal and probably pays extremely well. He cares A LOT about his image and keeping his status in society (which we can see affects his son negatively; he definitely has always emotionally and physically abused BHS and is likely part of the reason that BHS ended up becoming a serial killer...but we can discuss that separately lol.)
Anyways, they keep DHS around because they can pin ALL of their son's misdeeds on him, since DHS is already: 1) a diagnosed and known "psychopath" 2) the son of a known "psychopath" and serial killer 3) a murder suspect on the run 4) his father's suspected accomplice.
BHS is publicly none of the above, so people are more than likely to believe that DHS is the serial killer.
Director Baek even says at some point in a previous episode that they can act like they never knew anything about DHS's past and that their family got played by him. Perhaps they would get in trouble for faking his identity, but they could still garner empathy from others by playing off the idea that they were kind enough to help a young man, and that they just wanted a son because their poor boy is comatose. The reason why he is comatose would never be important because they could make it up as long as no one else knew (turns out the house helper somehow knew, which would be the only way this fact would be revealed). Director Baek is a successful doctor, and there aren't any medical records for BHS since he was stabbed, so the Director could easily make things up as a credible source.
As to why they didn't simply say BHS is abroad: They realized that their son is the serial killer's accomplice. The serial killer is dead but his son is on the loose and although he was suspected, they know he's not the one. To make sure no one ever finds out the truth, it would be best to keep their scapegoat close by and under control. If they keep an eye on DHS, they would know what happens just in case the truth is somehow revealed (they didn't know ALL the details that their son or DHS did). In a weird twist of fate, DHS is the one that BHS hit with his car, suddenly connecting them together, and DHS has asked why BHS was in a coma when DHS was the one who was hit. If he ever questioned this again and tried to look into this, it would be problematic for the Baek family. Giving him an identity, money, and safety is the best way to keep DHS and the entire situation under their control.
It is a halfway point, but I am surprised a lot of people cried as I did not cry. It was a humanistic Hospital…
Haha we have the same taste; I didn't cry during this drama and I didn't enjoy Reply 1994 very much either...it was somewhat funny but the story was so bland. Reply 1988 was way better and PP is one of my favorite dramas because of the fleshed-out characters ♡
I love the other dramas by this writer but this one just wasn't up to par. I didn't find much of it funny, nor did I find myself crying much like everyone else is saying. It's just mediocre. The ending feels like the halfway point of a 24 episode drama; splitting it into seasons doesn't work because this season is extremely incomplete. It felt like it dragged on and nothing really happened. Definitely the worst drama by this writer.
??????? Was it REALLY NECESSARY to have the kid run away like that????????? Maybe I'm just totally lost, but I'm…
He runs away because he can see through his dad's manipulation tactics and is frustrated that his mom keeps falling for it despite everything that happened. He mentions earlier in the show how he's sick of being used as an excuse because they never actually think of how he feels or what he wants; they just keep assuming that they know best. At the last dinner, he clearly doesn't care for closure with his dad, but his mom keeps pushing for a beautiful ending, even though that's clearly not possible since Tae Oh never truly admits his faults. Joon Young is sick of constantly having his feelings flipped around, especially after all the trauma his parents caused...I mean, his dad attempts suicide in front of him and never gives him the choice of just moving on...and his mom feels bad for the dad even though the suicide attempt is clearly another manipulation tactic. He's still a minor but goes through so much throughout the show that it's understandable if his thoughts and actions are selfish.
What he goes through IS abuse...psychological abuse. His dad tells him how bad his mom is and even treats him poorly in front of his stepmom, while his mom flip flops on her perception of his dad and doesn't respect his wishes to sinply stay away from the dad. He finds out that his dad cheated, his mom wants to die, his mom lies to his dad about killing the son, his dad beats his mom nearly to death, his dad remarries and has another kid, his dad cheats on his stepmom with his mom, his dad stalks him and his mom, his mom still wants to help his dad...the list goes on. He suffers so much at the hands of his parents. Running away isn't the answer because he needs psychological treatment, but being away from his insane parents would be good for him.
I love itttttttt okay my question what is the age difference between sun woo and tae oh like in the drama because…
Sun Woo and Tae Oh are in their 40s, but the characters think Tae Oh looks younger, as if he's in his 30s. Da Kyung is supposed to be around 24 when the drama starts, so she's considerably younger, maybe by 20 years lol.
I really don't understand lee lim's end goal here. Why is he doing all this he's not gonna be able to become king…
Lee Im is creating public hate for Lee Gon while raising an army to overthrow him. I don't think he's aware that time would eventually stop....he just wants to get his hands on the flute and live as long as possible.
His organs were harvested to be sold, but he was saved somehow by the chief and now he has artificial organs...that's…
That's why he talks about how he's the only one without a story, and then he gets locked in a freezer truck (again) and the girl dies...so he can have a traumatic background too lol. I'm sorry to inform you that in the webtoon he's just the extra member of the team. He doesn't have any development because he's not very important.
The webtoon is interesting enough to pass time, but not phenomenal in terms of character development. At least it's not a cheesy mess like the drama lol
I'm surprised the rating for this show is still above 7! I guess a lot of people are still enjoying it regardless…
They took a unique webtoon and completely made it a typical revenge kdrama...idk what I expected.
>In the webtoon, he only gets extra strength when he's wearing special technology which all of them have access to (briefly shown in the drama as Gwang Chul's sparky gloves, but originally an artificial spine which they can take off). >Tae Woong is always better than him since his entire body is made of that tech, and it takes months of a totally different training story arc to get Gi Bum to even be able to challenge Tae Woong. >Deuk Gu's character has been mashed up from a pair of villain brothers, and his only interest in Gi Bum is supposed to be in getting the technology for the eyes. >Mina is sort of nice but she's not an emotional character, and has no love interest or chip connection to Gi Bum. She's just a former and current colleague, but they turned her into a sobbing mess because she's a woman. >Speaking of women, the chairwoman has no real reason to have a connection to Gi Bum; she's just there to thirst after him because there aren't enough female characters in the drama (don't even get me started on how they did Susan dirty).
I have a ton more gripes about the other characters, but I'll leave it here for now. There are entire chapters and story arcs which take the focus away from Gi Bum, since there's more to these characters and the story than just our hero. It's like the screenwriter decided to take the premise of artificial eyes and throw everything else out the window.
