So according to a news article I found, this drama plans to finish production within the first half of 2021 and to air in the second half.
A little off topic, but what I found interesting is that in the same article there is the following statement: "Started by the craze around the Chinese webdrama 'The Untamed' the BL fandom is rapidly increasing in Korea and abroad. It is not an exaggeration to say that this development led the sales of the whole Webtoon and Webnovel industry."
I was wondering why Korea is suddenly pumping out BLs left and right but I guess it's simply investors smelling money lol. Before, they must have thought it to be too risky because some parts of the Korean society tend to be quite homophobic and are very vocal about their opposition. But at the end money speaks louder I guess.
I started this with zero expectations but it easily turned out to be my favorite Korean BL for now. This show proves that even out of a simple and somewhat cliched premise one can make a great story if you have both skillful writing and excellent acting. And while the overall setup might be nothing new the relationship itself felt really fresh, especially for a Kdrama, with unique and realistic characters that had great chemistry.
Just finished ep 6 and I'm surprised how much I like this. It's so good! I love the acting of the two leads. With some of those other short shows with really short episodes I often lose the connection to the characters and sometimes I'm not feeling the romantic moments because of it. But here their acting pulls me right back into the show within seconds. Also, I almost laughed my ass off at the line "Were you a dog in your past life?" This last scene was so good. Great show.
Just finished it and I'm honestly not too sure what I'm feeling right now haha. It is definitely a special drama. The plot is so interesting. It's refreshing and neatly arranged with no dragging parts. Of course the time travelling aspect twists your brain at times but it's super fun getting the puzzle together.
The acting is great. The main characters are layered and likable. The only 'downside' was that as someone who loves (needs?) to watch happy stuff the show could get quite frustrating because it had so few happy moments and was super depressing at times. Especially the second to last episode made me want to bang my head against a wall. But of course that's not a shortcoming of the show itself.
I liked the middle episodes the most (maybe around episode 4/5 to 9/10 or so), that was where I couldn't stop watching because I wanted to understand more and see everything unfold. Overall however absolutely worth a watch and a drama that I can confidently recommend to anyone, especially if you're tired of the usual stuff. Maybe not recommended if you're looking for something to cheer you up lol.
Not sure if it has been posted before but I found this 13min video essay titled 'Cherry Magic Saved My 2020 (Analysis + Review)' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWZSVeW-XBw I think it really summarizes well why CM felt so special for many people
I wasn't immediately sold on the show during the very first minutes but having watched the two episodes that are out now, I'd say it's fun and I'm optimistic that it will be a good watch. It does remind me of History2 in some aspects (mainly the side characters) but not in a bad way. Not everything is working 100% for me and some tropes are a little typical but it's cute enough and the two leads are likable as well. I'd say it's worth checking out.
So they didn't even ask him if he wants to do it, they just confronted him with the fact that he would now play…
I wondered about this as well but I really know next to nothing about the Japanese entertainment business unfortunately. At least for Fujisaki I read that they already had the actress in mind and probably just asked her if she wants to take the role.

So they didn't even ask him if he wants to do it, they just confronted him with the fact that he would now play the role of a 30 year old virgin with magical powers in a BL production. That's too funny, I wish I could have seen that facial expression

Ahh that's a good explanation. If you put it like this it clearly fits well xD I only remember fragments of the book.. makes me want to pick it up again

Yes that's probably it. In the book an insecure youth talks with a wise philosopher who teaches him to have a healthier view on himself and his relationships. But you could also turn it around and learn how the unhealthy views of insecure people look like. It's a recent interview right? Maybe someone will translate it later ><
I really want to read the whole article of this interview: https://i.imgur.com/nW7ZIS4.pngT____________________________________________________________TEdited:…

Yes this is another one of these posts lol. I know it gets old but I already miss the daily checking for updates and news, reading everyone's thoughts and opinions, counting down the days till the next episode ... I wasn't very active here but reading the comments every week was one part why CM was so fun. Guess now I have to look for another obsession to brighten up my days and fill up the boredom in between. But I refuse to move on just yet lol. Anyways happy New Years to everyone! I hope Cherry Magic gave and gives many of you strength and some confidence for a good start into 2021.
