Mh I accidentally watched a video of him somewhere where his romantic scenes of one of his dramas were cut together but his acting didn't convince me at all. He looked dead serious, reserved and kinda disinterested in all of them when the scenes were supposed to be emotional and heart-wrenching. Too bad, guess I have to lower my expectations for 2ha
We just watched this in Korean class and it was super good o.o I'm somebody who thinks patriotism is dumb but when you're watching this you're like go Korea yass show them assholes what you're made of lol
So what's happening here is that the main plot is finished (Sarawat and Tine acknowledged each other as lovers and are happily together) but they have to stretch out the story just a little bit more so they threw some conflicts at them. Most BLs go with something like "confronting unaccepting parents" or "stopping the crazy person who tries to break us up". For 2gether it's Tine getting randomly jealous and insecure about Sarawat's past crush and the appearance of this random dude trying to snatch Tine from Sarawat. They're both boring and executed badly. The first one doesn't really work because they just got together and it became so damn obvious in every damn episode that Sarawat only has eyes for Tine so Tine suddenly getting insecure about Sarawats affection is kind of dumb. Also, he had so many girlfriends the past few years, but get's riled up about Sarawats one crush back then in highschool? Come on. It's also one of those annoying conflicts that could just be resolved with some simple communication. The second one realistically would have gone something like this: Tine would just have said "sorry, I have a boyfriend" and third-wheel-dude would have answered "I see, I'll respect that" and this thing would've been done. So in order to make it "work" they had to do three things: 1) turning Tine in some spineless passive guy who cannot open his mouth and stand up for himself 2) turning Sarawat possessive and showing him getting uselessly jealous over dumb stuff even though Tine obviously has zero interest in the third dude so there is no reason to waste you're energy like this 3) making this third dude mindnumbingly annoying, slimy and tone deaf and never giving up even though he obviously has zero chances and nobody knows why he obsesses over Tine so much anyways. It's obvious to us viewers that Tine would never suddenly develop affection for random 3rd dude, so there is no suspense at all. In the end it's just super frustrating and annoying to watch. The problem (at least for me) is not the lack of kisses and intimacy or something, it's just that they're out of character, there is no progress or suspense, and the whole conflict is dumb.
For example in the case of Tharn&Type, the thing with the obsessive psycho friend was executed not perfectly, but certainly much better, being also connected with other parts of the plot and nobody falling out of character too much. Here it's just uninspired and unconvincing.
Damnnn I've waited for this ever since I got into BL. It also airs one day after my birthday nice lol Of course even in a BL drama they had to put a chaebol heir as the lead I can't haha Anyway this better be good
I'm at the third episode right now and it's better than I expected. There didn't happen that much yet but everything is filmed beautifully and the setting and characters seem interesting enough. Funny thing is that the two leads don't do much for me on their own but together they are actually quite enjoyable. Them talking together are the most interesting scenes for me till now. It's easy to imagine that it's based on a BL novel. (I very much hope they keep it coming lol)
The only thing is that the subs on the iQIYI page fail me sometimes and randomly don't show up which is very annoying. Reloading the page or switching the device only helps sometimes. Maybe I should wait until they fully subbed it on Viki but it seems to take a while there ._.
I don't worry about the rating too much since I think it will get back to normal soon. But it's really unfortunate that it isn't showing up as one of the Top Airing Shows. It should be rank 4. I guess it's because here on mydramalist the airing date for this show has a start date but it's not noted when it will end. Maybe someone knows the end date and can edit it so that this drama can show up on the rankings..?
Anyways it only have been two episodes but I'm totally hooked. I have so bad withdrawals that I just watched the two trailers again but it only got worse. Sarawat totally got me. I'm so weak for this kind of character. Waiting for the next episode will be so hard ughh
Lol I admit there is a lot of random stuff going on and you have all the tropes and clichees but I'm having lot's of fun. The characters are all very distinct and likable. I have no trouble to distinguish them and nobody annoys me till now. I especially like Saint's acting and his character. It surprised me since didn't liked him that much in LBC.
I tried to read a few comments on Naver and they seem to mostly hate on the female lead's acting. Top comments are also criticizing the messy script. There where several positive comments as well but the viewership ratings in general seem to be low.
Did all viewers here become fans of this drama because of novel / anime and etc. ? I dicided to watch this drama…
I heard about this drama first and became interested when reading that it's based on a BL novel. Tried to watch the first episodes but it was too confusing and didn't really convince me so I read the novel first. Became kinda addicted (even though there were some boring parts that I just skipped) and now I started watching the drama again. It's true the first episodes aren't that amazing but since I read the novel I just watch them while doing something else so when I miss anything I still won't get lost with the storyline. Now I hope it gets more interesting later on as people say.
I only watched the first 9 episodes till now but wow it's been a while that I'm enjoying a drama so much. It has some weaknesses here and there but overall it's well made. And it's really refreshing to have a smart and proactive female lead for once.
Mh. I got a very good impression from the first 20 minutes. The style of the first episode was fresh and very well made overall. However Kaii got more unlikeable by the minute and the other two 'gang members' where not any better.
First, the constant objectification of women really annoyed me after a while. I tend to overlook it for the sake of enjoying a drama but it's just so extreme in this show. I get that it was supposed to be funny and not taken too seriously but how about coming up with something that is actually funny and that doesn't require treating a whole gender like some worthless collectable objects.
Especially Kaii ugh ... He picks up and dumps women as he pleases but then the same happens to him literally just once! and he can't stop whining about how unfair it is and how bad he feels. Like ... it's okay if you as a guy treat women like shit, but if the same thing happens to you, you want everyone to feel sorry for you and also you have to take revenge because nobody should dare to treat you like this..? But it's okay if you do it...?? Wow, congrats for being an entitled sexist prick. And then he whines about nobody caring for him? Well duh, what do you expect if you treat people like this.
Kaii being a complete jerk also makes the crush Third has on him not believable for me. Kaii has literally no redeeming qualities and treats Third completely carelessly and as he pleases. How in the world could you have a crush on a guy like this seriously... get a grip on yourself.
The only likeable character is Third (he is also so good looking..TT) but his crush makes no sense and the only thing he does during the first episode is running after Kaii and crying everytime he gets dumped in favor of a girl which happened like every five minutes I'm not even kidding.
Dunno, this had so much potential but I completely checked out on Kaii's character. Sure, possible that he grows and becomes a better person or something but I don't think I care enough to keep watching until then.
I just watched the first episode and have to agree that it was sooo good. So much fun and I liked the two lead actors a lot in their roles... they're both extreme cute and likable. Can't wait to see the rest. I'm just afraid of how it will end x)
I seem to be the only one who is not entirely enchanted by Jingoos acting. Idk, maybe it's because everybody is pointing it out all the time, but I can never forget or unsee that he is well, acting. Especially when he acts surprised or shocked it's just too in-your-face with his wide, barely blinking eyes, stuttering/sluring speech and shaking hands, that only dare to open the folded paper veeeeery slowy etc. maybe I'm just too focused on this but yeah.
Also I can't help comparing it to last years Chinese drama "The Secret of the Three Kingdoms" which had the same premise of someone secretly replacing the king. I dropped it midway through because the plot started dragging in the middle, but the first 12 or 15 episodes were really good, mainly thanks to the set of really interesting and distinct characters. So seeing how much more you can make out of a story like this I can't help to be somewhat disappointed of this drama, or at least of its beginning.
The probably best part of the C-drama was the relationship between the new king and the queen. At the beginning there was a lot of conflict and mistrust between them. One wrong decision could cost them their lives, so especially the queen strictly pursued her own interests, trying to trick the inexperienced king to unknownly be a pawn in her plans. They only slowly learn to trust each other and to work together, fighting the dangers of the palace together and becoming a great team and finally lovers in the end. They felt like equals, like real characters, and you can see their growth and growing affection for each other.
In this drama however, such depth and relation delevopment is missing (up to now). The queen seems smart but stays passive, mainly sitting somewhere prettily, switching between worrying and being sad. I really like the actress, but her character stays really pale compared to her proactive Chinese equivalent. On the other hand you have this naive young boy, who knows nobody in the palace, nothing about court intrigues, rules, parties or institutions, who has no experience, education nor connections, who can't even read, and this boy seriously has to promise the queen to save her from the evil guys? The queen, who has lots of all the things named above? Yeah, sure. When it get's serious, a man has to solve it, right? Also, boring insta-love. Maybe it get's better within the upcoming episodes but knowing K-drama, I have low expectations.
The intrigues at the court are just the old stuff you already know from all the other historical K-dramas before. I feel this is also a thing that C-dramas just do better. K-dramas lack the exciting characters that you need for pulling this off in an interesting way. Here you only have those standard old evil men and women, looking the same in every drama, plotting evil stuff in boring scenes were they just sit and talk about what they're planning to do, with a sly evil grin on their faces. Of course C-drama and K-dramas have their distinct styles and that's okay. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. But it's been a while since I was captivated by a character in a K-drama and I am someone whose interest in a drama really depends on how much I care about the characters.
I'm happy for everyone who is enjoying this drama. These were just my personal perceptions.
"Cha Eun Ho is a genius writer and the youngest chief editor ever at his publishing company. He is smart and handsome." "Kang Da Ni used to be a popular copywriter, but she is not anymore. She is now broke and unemployed." Wow nobody could have ever expected these kind of characters from a Kdrama romcom I'm so surprised
This drama reminds me of a cartoon I watched on youtube a couple of years ago. Sadly I don't remember the name.…
Yes, the webtoon is originally based on an old Korean folklore ('The Fairy/Heavenly Maiden and the Woodcutter'). It exists in similar forms in other countries as well. So it's possible that there are many works using this kind of concept.
