So looks like they stuck a lot into one episode novel readers mentioned; her nightmare, his white lie and the…
Shhhhh… don’t say that too loudly or else it might summon them for the next ep. Wicked Witch prob thinks her presence should be required for every ep as our lives couldn’t possibly be the same without her. 😝🤣
this is the second firefighter theme that i watched in 2023. Are they endorsing them or smthg lol. I dropped date…
The first thing I would do is not compare it to Hidden Love. Two totally separate dramas, not even the same genre. This is not your fluffy romance, so don’t expect the same here. On the other hand if you enjoy a drama that involves angst and romance of the kind with grand sweeping emotions, then please pull up a chair.
As for the timing of this drama along with A Date with a Future, the latter drama was supposed to have aired at least half a year ago. It got pulled when two of its cast members were involved in (separate) controversies and so the production team had to fix that issue (ended up replacing them with AI technology) which is why it aired this summer and now coincides with FOMH’s airing.
(Fun fact: there is a third firefighter-themed drama waiting to air! Have seen some rumors that maybe it will air next month. If so, that will make 2023 officially the summer of fire 🔥😂)
Novel readers, could you share what happened to the evil mum (and dad) in the end? Also did SY get promoted away…
In the book, XQ confronts her mom after she finds out what she did to SY in the past. Dad will try and get her to reconcile but she’s not interested. Thereafter, MYC is falsely accused of sexual assault and SY’s cousin is the one who has the evidence to exonerate him. As a result the tables are turned and now the Meng family needs SY’s family’s help. The cousin will ask the parents to get down on their knees in the same way her family had once been treated, the dad will agree, but the mom will stop him saying that she’ll do it. She starts to bend and the cousin calls it off out of consideration for XQ.
As for SY, he sets things in motion for promotion so it is expected that within 2-3 years he’ll turn to more of a desk job.
I think that's exactly what 29 was about. In the book, when MYC is accused of sexual assault, it kinda came out…
In the book, there is a specific incident that leads to the sexual assault allegation. They ran into each other at a bar or a karaoke bar type place (can’t quite remember) ad Yezi was there with her friends. That’s why the minute she started accusing MYC of having raped her they took her side and encouraged her to post about it online. But that’s also how SY’s cousin has the photos to exonerate him because she was also present in that group and saw the two of them together.
I don’t know if the drama will take the same route or weave it into the build up. I def raised an eyebrow with Yezi taking him back to her place when he was drunk and the whole broken vase thing. It’s possible she could be laying the groundwork for things to be edited in a way to reflect poorly on him if she wants to accuse him of something. At the same time, Zhai Miao is already sensing something too because she recognized MYC when she, Yezi, and their roommates were doing the photo shoot and now the concert ticket that she found.

There have been signs that not all is right with YZ since the beginning -- most noticeably after the cousin was caught selling fake goods. When the cousin talked to YZ in the dorm after, it was obvious YZ wasn't being honest or a true friend to YZ. I also feel like there's foreshadowing in the script a lot and one of those moments was when SY was asking his cousin how he could trust her friend so much with their new online business, and she agreed that maybe they should sign a contract.
As for the written piece... you'd be surprised, lol. The author really focused the story mainly on the leads so the rest is left to be a sketch. Really, the whole thing about Yezi accusing MYC of sexual assault is a prop up to the point that the tables have turned and the Meng family now need something from SY's family. It's not actually about Yezi or MYC. But like I said, it kinda worked in the book if you didn't think too hard about it and just rolled with it, but I think with a drama as a different medium of storytelling, that would be much harder to just bring up out of nowhere so I like the artistic license they've taken in this regard.
Really? 29 was all about bro and that chick. Why? To establish there’s something off about her?In 30, wicked…
I think that's exactly what 29 was about. In the book, when MYC is accused of sexual assault, it kinda came out left field because we just hardly ever saw them. Any interactions they must have had happened "off screen." But it also leaves the whole incident without much context and the only takeaway you really get from that scene is that finally someone on SY's side gets to have the upper hand when it comes to XQ's parents because now they need the cousin (to help clear MYC's name). And while that is certainly a big thing, as to the rest... it's rather random. But one rolls with it because that's what one does. :-)
But that's why as much as i know everyone would rather have reduced screentime of the bro/Yezi to increase our screentime with the leads, I'm actually appreciative of the drama's approach because it is fleshing out their story that will make so much more sense for everything that happens later (so long as they keep the same storyline with Yezi accusing MYC of sexual assault).
I swear, every time the Wicked Witch starts talking about family backgrounds and questioning how others (*coughSYcough*) could be raised properly, etc., I just want to hold up a mirror. What does it take to have that level of conceit and such utter lack of self-awareness to not see how her own children are suffering before her? It is soooo frustrating to watch! I just want to squeeze her like a roll of bubble wrap and go - pop! pop! pop!
Episodes 29-30Loved the roof garden- beautiful Was that his house or ? She just dissed her mom in front of everyone…
Yes, I think that the roof garden is his house that he has been preparing for XQ. At least I'm assuming so because in the book, that's exactly what happens. He has this whole house prepared for her - painted in her favorite colors and everything - because once upon a time, she'd commented that she would love to live in a courtyard style house like the one his aunt/uncle have. So romantic!
I saw some comments before that she will learn wha the mother did to him in military. I wonder when it will come.…
It was in an earlier episode - I don't remember which one now, but I want to say it was the ep where the medical team were having their farewell dinner at the fire station and XQ and SY got into a spat about their professions and the concept of being heroes. But in any event, whichever episode it was in, we did have a flashback moment to when he wrote his in-case letter while serving in the military. And no, I'm sure she didn't get to read it since he survived.
In the book, XQ just cut ties with her family and lives on with SY and his family
There was some karma when MYC was falsely accused of sexual assault by Yezi. In the end, it was SY's cousin who had the evidence needed to clear his name. She didn't want to hand it over, but SY persuaded her by telling her it was the right thing to do and that he neither forgave the adoptive parents nor did he want their apology (as he wouldn't be able to forgive them anyway). On the other hand, he didn't seek revenge either -- he simply wanted to move on with his life without giving them any more attention. So before the cousin handed over the evidence, she asked the parents to kneel before her. The dad was going to do it, but the mom stopped him and said she would do it instead. The cousin stops her just before she was about to get on her knees - but only out of consideration for her "sao zi" (sister-in-law, aka XQ).
So true..but thats cdrama..even the most evil will bcome a freaking angel.. but i also dont like her.. one minute…
I don’t think they’re making her out to be an angel. Rather, I think that’s the whole point. She seems like one but isn’t one and in the end, her true nature will be revealed (she’s not a good person).
I'm a little behind with the episodes but I am wondering if some of the translations are not very accurate? In…
SY’s speech is lifted straight out of the book so there is a little bit of a disconnect given the changes that have been made. For example, in the drama, SY says MYC had always blamed him for XQ learning how to smoke, go to bars, and get into fights when those were things she either asked to do or did herself. Such a comment doesn’t really make sense in the drama when in a flashback, we saw XQ telling SY she didn’t like it when he smoked and that’s why she was giving him a lighter with a picture of her on it’s so he’d be reminded of that and he agreed to stop. Yet, in the book, both of them continued to smoke even in the present. He was like a chimney stack and she smoked when stressed. Therefore that part of his speech makes more sense in the book.
Same thing with the self-harm concerns. That time they had to save the little boy from the balcony outside her apartment in the drama, in the book, there was actually a fire in the unit upstairs so SY stayed behind into clean up the damage caused by their firefighting rescue. In doing so, he noticed she had bottles in her bathroom of medicine prescribed for anxiety and sleep impairment, etc. (at least that’s my recollection of when he noticed these things). The drama has skipped over moments like these and has been more vague about it, but it’s not hard to connect the dots either given all her hand-wringing (which is a symptom) as well as her comments to SY that she’s become a very dull person over the years, etc.
ZM called XQ SIL and that guy asked SIL? The wicked mom immediately replied, No XQ doesn't has bf! This round…
Thanks for the link; just watched. Yup. That’s the same from the book but they’ve played with the timeline of events. They’ve also changed the name from Han Ting (韩廷) to Han Yan (韩延) (as you can see, very similar characters) probably to cut out the overlap between the two books/dramas.

I don’t know if it will be same in the drama since the scene you’re talking about resulted in XQ moving out and in the drama, she’s already done so. But here’s a fun fact. The guy you’re talking about is named Han Ting, and he is the male lead of the author’s other book, “As Beautiful as Beijing,” which has been adapted into the pending drama starring Xu Kai (as Han Ting) and Tan Songyun. In that book, MYC and XQ are mentioned towards the end in a passing conversation.

Oh, thought of another way to kill off the WW - suffocation from firefighting foam. 🤣
