I would add that the cousin doesn't actually go through with having parents get on their knees as she doesn't want to make things awkward for her "sister-in-law" (aka XQ), and so calls it off right before they would. It is still a powerful moment to make them reach that point, though.
More importantly, I wanted to highlight how SY said - he neither forgave XQ's parents nor did he want them to ask for forgiveness, as even if they did, he wouldn't be able to give it. On the other hand, he said he lived without resentment and didn't seek revenge. In other words, they were basically like air to him; he didn't care about them or what they thought of him - and that is also pretty powerful to reach that state considering their history.
It depends on the official FOMH team billings, Sometimes they add veteran or popular actors in Guest role to keep…
I think there is often a misunderstanding, though, in how Cdramas use the title "Special appearance" versus what we traditionally think of as guest role. Special appearance does not mean guest role/cameo. It's like you said it's just a way to distinguish them between being a member of the regular case even though they're not quite a lead actor either (because of their character's role in the drama). But I think that often leads to some users thinking that actor should be categorized as a guest role when really they belong in the main cast category. That said, I haven't examined the credits to see how FL's mother was credited in this drama.
All info on MDL is user-submitted so it just means that someone put them there when they submitted that information based on whatever info they may have had at the time. Can also be edited/updated later.
Speaking of not finding the mom capable of something... I know this is incredibly random but every time the drama…
Haha, I’m willing to write that script!
[Mom tossed in deep end]
Mom: Help! Save me! XQ: Sorry, this beast was never trained how to swim. MYC: Sorry, this butterfly is trapped in his picture frame. SY: Sorry, I deal with fires. That’s a different unit.
Haha, and yet it's probably tears over the fact that things aren't going her way (from the preview, it looks like…
I'll help you! And yeah, I'm with you. I'm really hoping they don't do a redemption arc either but already we've seen clips from trailers and whatnot of SY carrying her on her back and now this. Seems like she may have a "come around" moment - rolls eyes, sigh. It is so jarring when the Cdramas do this, but they like to do it!
Don't know if you watched Road Home, but in that one, the ML's father was a selfish drunk who physically and emotionally abused his family for decades and for his sins, it was his family - particularly the ML - who paid the price. And then literally within the span of like one episode, his mom finally exerted herself to agree to divorce the dad and that was all it took for the dad to finally decide he was ready to give up the bottle. By the end of the drama, he was all proud dad of the ML. It was the oddest thing! Like if that was all it was going to take for him to reform, why didn't he do it earlier? And of course none of this was in the original novel; it was drama-made.
I fear this is what's going to happen with XQ's mother as well, and it's going to leave a disjointed taste in our mouths, but oh well. At least we'll be mentally prepared for it - maybe?
looking for another great show to enjoy and take my mind off this for a while. If the circulating rumors on Weibo…
If you enjoy school/youth dramas and want something light and fluffy (i.e., a total contrast to this drama's angst), I highly recommend "When I Fly Towards You."
More future previews on Douyin and did the wicked witch actually shed a tear? Didn’t think she was capable of…
Speaking of not finding the mom capable of something... I know this is incredibly random but every time the drama shows us the FL's parents' home with the pool, I don't know why but it cracks me up. I just keep wondering who uses it? It's hard to imagine anyone in that family being able to take time to relax and enjoy such a leisurely pursuit! Moreover, the mom seems like she'd be too proper for a bathing suit. 😝

Haha, and yet it's probably tears over the fact that things aren't going her way (from the preview, it looks like she may be reacting to XQ smashing their family photo after she learns what her mother did to SY in the past and confronts her parents about it).
Omg, that was great! So hilarious. Yes, that's exactly what JY does - gets SY to admit he likes XQ. I'll translate…
JY: Do you like her? Tell me! SY: YES, I like her!
[Flash back to the beginning of the scene]
JY: I was talking with XQ. Do you think she likes me? SY: You? JY: Yeah, do you think she's seen how I work, and I've managed to captivate her? A hardworking man is the best way to captivate a person. SY: I want to puke. JY: Don't think about puking. Don't the two of you know each other? I'm trying to get information out of you. SY: We're not familiar. Why are you trying to learn information about her? JY: If she really likes me, then I'll pursue her. SY: She doesn't like you! JY: Did she tell you that? SY: She doesn't need to say for me to know. Are you familiar with her to be standing here saying these ridiculous things? JY: Are you familiar with her? SY: I.... in any event, I'm more familiar with her than you. [Starts to walk away] If you like her, don't even think about having any ideas. JY: You like her, don't you? [Chasing after SY] If you like her, you should tell her. SY: YES, I like her! More than you can see, more than you can think of, more than you can understand, I like her! JY: [Laughs] I forced the truth out of you. I finally managed one over you! [SY kicks out at JY] SY: Tonight, don't [think about] returning to the dorm.
From Douyin and I can’t understand a thing but it seems that JY goads our captain into admitting he likes XQ…

WXD is just a guest role right? Can somebody tell me when he will dissappear? Gahd this series has successfully…
No, WDX is a member of the main cast. Specifically, he’s listed as “Special appearance,” but that doesn’t mean special in the sense that he’s a guest role. It’s more like the significance of his character and the actor is more than one of the regular cast members but also not a leading role.
Another example if you’ve ever watched Go Ahead - Steven Zhang was an integral part of the story/cast, he was part of the main threesome, but he was also listed as a Special appearance in the credits. You can think of it as giving an actor/role importance but also not taking away from the leads’ significance. Cnetz get heated over casting orders, etc, so I think this is also the dramas’ ways of trying to deal with that.
I had the same initial thought and then my second thought was: ahh --- drama logic, lol. I mean, how else will…
Haha, yeah, no, I get you. It is a little odd. Maybe we can pretend they’re doing a refresher course or something. After all, how can we get a shirtless YY? 🤣😝
And of course there was someone glaring in the background through it all. Are they sure it was oil spilled at that site and not vinegar??? 😉😝😂
