I binged finished yesterday but feels a sense of lost and dazed that I have completed it just like that. Disbelieved!😅
Not yet. The release of subbed eps resumes 7/24 (today/tomorrow, depending on your time zone) and concludes on Thursday. But not everyone needs subs and has watched to the end already.
Those who watched the last 8 episodes, were you satisfied with the way they concluded the drama? Not looking for…
I was very satisfied with the drama's ending as well as the drama as a whole. I also say that as one who's read and loved the book. Yes, there were changes made to accommodate many things, but I didn't mind them. I thought they worked well in the context of the drama and helped bring everything to life. I also loved all the actors/actresses and thought everyone did a great job!
You could say that. She eventually comes around after SY saves her life and later we see XQ having a meal with…
If I remember correctly they get together officially in Ep 25 (it's right after the earthquake arc). They will not break up. They will only have one fight when she wants him to share what happened to him in the past and he refuses to say anything.
That was always the most disappointing part about the dad - how he could see what was happening at home but would never do anything about it because he'd stand by his wife and all her "upbringing and proper background" talk. As for the mom, how many times did her children say to her (even literally sometimes), "Look at me? Look at ME? Do you think I look happy?" And still she never got it. This is why in a lot of ways I can appreciate the change the drama made by having XQ's father visit SY's family -- he needed to see how a normal, happy family operates. Kind of hope the mom can have that opportunity as well one day because if anyone needs to have it explained to her in bright, neon, flashing lights it's her. She seems to be rather obtuse otherwise, lol. But at least in the end, there were some smiles around the Meng family dinner table. Never would have imagined that would be possible!

XQ does cut things off after she learns the truth of what her mom did to SY in the past. But then the false sexual assault accusation against MYC happens, resulting in the mom turning herself in. Even then XQ is not inclined towards forgiving her mom and rebuffs her father's attempts at rebuilding a relationship. But then the father continues to make efforts and the mom eventually comes around after SY saves her life, so then you get that family meal scene and it can be assumed the family is working towards repairing their relationship.
Notably, this is different than in the book. Mom never turns herself in and XQ keeps things cut off from her parents to the end, always rebuffing any attempts from her father at reconciliation.
They will according to the original schedule (the unsubbed eps were released as part of an express package option,…
It’s a way for streaming platforms to make more money in China. They count on people being impatient and willing to pay extra money on top of what they are already paying to see the episodes in advance.
In general there are usually two options. You can watch for free on a slow schedule, or pay a membership fee to watch on a faster schedule. And then often in the last week they will offer a third, express option where (as mentioned) you pay on top of what you’ve already to paid to watch even more ahead.
Sometimes the express option is made available to international viewers and then there will be subs. But that was not done here in this drama’s case (appears to have only been made available in China).
It’s worth noting that the legal streaming sites for international users, such as Viki (and apart from the streaming platforms themselves, obviously) always stick to the original schedule. So what people often find online is what has been ripped and uploaded to non-legal sites…
A question for those who have watched all the episodes... Do they really forgive the FL's mother?
You could say that. She eventually comes around after SY saves her life and later we see XQ having a meal with her fam where mom asks after her wedding plans. You can read my recaps if you keep scrolling down this page.
anyone got the link for the whole episode of hello saturday FOMH episode ? the one with sub if possible, if not,…
Think Hunan/MangoTV usually uploads their Hello Saturday eps 2-3 days after it airs on their YouTube channel, so if you check tomorrow (7/24) it might be posted.
Did I not tell you to prepare your heart for a redemption arc involving the Wicked Witch?? LOL. I just knew as a Cdrama it woudln't be able to help itself. :-P
But interestingly, I find I don't mind how it played out here. (I mind it way less than what we saw in "Road Home," which you and I've discussed before as well.) I haven't been able to quite put my finger on why that is - maybe because the mom is more subtle about it here whereas the dad in RH was so in-your-face with his effusiveness? I'm not sure... still thinking on it and to be frank, not sure how I feel about myself that I'm okay with this! Haha.
It definitely helps (for the redemption arc) that in the drama, the mom didn't actually frame SY as a traitor resulting in his near-death. That would be really difficult to stomach. Obviously, messing with one's future and opportunities is not ideal either and I don't mean to minimize what mom did in that regard - it's still a big thing - but still. There is a difference.
Also, the drama changes the part where XQ's dad had a thing with SY's mom in the past. In the book that turns out to be the main driving factor why she is so against SY and there is no recovering from that (mom's never going to get over that). In the drama, since they removed that element, that makes it possible for the mom to come around to SY and accept that he's not this terrible person that she's always believed him to be.
