Jingoo has been a favourite but is it like he's not able to cope up with the show's direction? I can't get into his character at all. Just on the 2nd episode, and with the low rating reviews, I am not sure how much I can withstand the drama.
I am not sure how many days I will take to get over this. The show has touched the core of my spirit to a level, I can not help but praise it everywhere I can. History should be our greatest teacher of all time and if we don't learn, there is no eseence of telling such a story. Knowing that we can't turn the time back, all we can do is be kind to each other and live a life with good spirit.
I am so engrossed and excited about the show, out of spite, I told in my WhatsApp Kdrama group with 250+ members to watch Pachinko and i shall pay them for it. And now everyone has started and asking me for money. 😭😭😭
I get that this is about the utterly painful sufferings of Koreans during the most devastating times, but did…
I wasn't sure about the show using standalone episode concept but yeah I the 7th episode definitely followed that pattern. I can not agree to saying each of the previous episodes are standalone bcs that's clearly a fact. Also, I got aware of the writer's 4 seasons vision only after commenting here and went to find out on google, so my bad! But all of the actors auditioning including Youn Yuh Jung, was told long back. Anyways I went on to assume about the 7th episode being written for a particular character just bcs no other episode before it was standalone, and it's normal and natural to guess so. But even so, I shall apologise for not educating myself well. If you notice, I have used the "if" clause bcs I wasn't certain.
2 complaints to make. First the production team barely has anyone who is Korean. Second, the subtitles team has…
Obviously West is richer and capable of investing more but if you're gonna demean a industry which has taken the world by storm bcs of its firm portryal and has been able to stand out without any support from the west, I no way will be a part of the conversation. "Koreans don't have the vision" is what particularly bothers me and ngl I am offended.

Ouch! The last statement of yours seems very irresponsible? I am sure you haven't watched many Korean movies and shows, altogether, you wouldn't have commented such otherwise. I suggest you watch movies and dramas realted Japanese invasion of Korea, the independence movement and post-separation, both fictional and real ones. Korea makes shows with the most historical accuracy than any other industry and other technical aspects are taken care of to the levels that, it doesn't need to be compared with West or any other

No I downloaded from dramacool, but I am certain the videos are extracted from Apple+ only. It's not the translation, rathet the missing spaces between 2 episodes. The issue got better with episodes, now that I am done with 7 episodes. And, even so the drama is American, PACHINKO belongs to Apple+ Korea, not to Apple+ as an entire…? (Idk how it works) My liberal thoughts say it's okay to have so many half or non-Koreans in the show but imagine how better heartfelt it would have been if it were made by those who are the descendants of the sufferers of those times? I admit the show is already a masterpiece but still..... iykwim.

On that note, do you guys think there will be another season? Given how ep7 brought forward a different set of story when only one ep is left plus the fact the story of Hansu itself was incomplete in that episode, I have a hunch that it's highly likely they are planning for another season.

Again, personally, I didn't like a detailed story about Hansu. For the long 6 episodes, he wasn't even worthy of a supporting character, I mean his screenshare was very limited. Morever, he was a jerk who did dirty to the Central character. Despite his miserable past, it just didn't sit with me dedicating an entire episode to him. Is it bcs LMH is the most popular star among them and he needed a focused exposure for 50 minutes? If it is, I hate it. Could have casted another familiar face other than him.
Done with the 7th episode and here is what I want to say about it in particular. Not a complaint, rather curious…
I get that this is about the utterly painful sufferings of Koreans during the most devastating times, but did the entire 7th episode has to be about one particular event? They had been constantly presenting one story to us and then the next episode suddenly turns into something that wasn't asked for. Not trying to demean the 1923 earthquake event and the massacre of the innocent Koreans afterwards, but what I mean, Hansu's story should also have been shown in parallel with others, from the beginning, little by little. Wouldn't have that been better? Not like it's a set of stories from different povs. The problem it had been a single feelings for 6 episode but then you are unable to relate those with the 7th.
Pachinko is giving me goosebumps from the very beginning. Can't help but acknowledge the cinematic values. Apple…
