One of the reasons I love Flex X Cop is they pick a profession and show their background and inner workings for the cases. Last season we had a painter, a psychiatrist, actors. This season we have pro killers, hotel staff, a sculptor. And we’re getting a magician next week!

He maintains a cold and professional demeanour as he is the CEO, but is endearing when alone and when caring for FL. He has a lot of silly, funny, clumsy scenes.
I love the fashion business aspect of this drama. They really should’ve promoted it more instead of focusing so much on the love triangle in the promos, it’s a big selling point for fashion and business enthusiasts. I watched and loved dramas like Celebrity, The Art Of Sarah, and Branding In Seongsu because of the fashion and branding themes, and I’m liking the unique takes and ways of obtaining niche products for the company here.
I really love the romance in this. It’s mature, it blossomed slowly, but the leads still kick their feet and squee privately when they think of each other, it’s so precious! No childhood connection, no noble idiocy, just two people who meet, grow close, then love and support each other!
I really liked the villain in episode 4. So hot and so quiet. The actor is Lee Hakjoo. I’ve mostly seen him neatly dressed in suits in previous dramas; the gangster look here suited him so well.
Having more than 10-12 episodes in a drama seems tedious these days, but 14 episodes of Flex X Cop 2 is a gift! The case-per-week format along with the group’s shenanigans keep it fun and fresh.
In adulthood, people lose their joy. So many people become dull and lifeless due to the monotony of daily life. So it’s sweet to see a FL who has held on to her joy through being a fan. The group Nam Dareum stanned disbanded pretty early on, and she was stuck in dead-end jobs, yet she found ways to support her bias’ next moves, and joined his company to reignite her passion for work and collect some rare merch like 1 of 82 employee ID cards and event banners. Her smile is contagious and her liveliness heartwarming!
Kang Hagi loves Appello, it has been the only thing that matters to him, and now he has found someone who is just as passionate about the company and goes the extra mile, like saving the clothes and ramp in heavy rainfall, and promoting the fashion show by being silly and creative and making viral content. She may do things in a different, more MZ way, but her enthusiasm brings fresh energy to the company’s activities. Hagi doesn’t know it’s because she’s a Lee Chan fan, but perhaps in his eyes, this kind of enthusiasm is attractive.
Lee Chan was an idol YEARS ago, and his group disbanded after 2 years, meaning the idol era and group are long forgotten and, in most people’s eyes, a failure. But here is this fan who kept supporting him his entire career, still listens to the music of the group he still holds dear, and is still enthusiastic about anything to do with him or his group 12 years later. He noticed her enthusiasm years ago when they disbanded and she still loved the group and him, when she went into the jewelry workshop he was coincidentally at, and notices it now too. I can see why he would feel warmly towards her.
Love triangle dramas are fun. You have people having a bias based on their preferences and the type of plot they prefer, each person sharing their reasons and enthusiasm, and a fun atmosphere overall. Of course fan wars and negativity don’t have a place in this, but done positively, cheering for a ship and looking forward to their scenes can be really fun!
Is this a learned skill vs passion drama? I love those dramas where one character is good because of practice and technical ability and because they have access to the best tutors, and the other has raw, fiery passion that can’t be replicated. Whether it’s music, sports, art, or literature, these stories and rivalries are so captivating; this type of plot is usually secondary in K-dramas, so it’s great we have a drama where this is the main theme. It’s also interesting to read people’s opinions and whose story they resonate with more and who they think is “the villain” as the drama goes on.
