Imagine lamenting how hard Chief Ke's life must have been trying to delicately handle Hongshen, Ling Han and Zhu He's suspicious identities, where in fact deep inside Chief Ke must have been having the time of his life making these 3 fight each other.........
I wish I could materialise before Milan and just give her a good hard slap when she said that nonsense confidently.…
Oh no youre right! π but in all honesty, Mi Lan might be an enemy agent but i found that she's the female character whom i was intrigued about the most. She's actually capable and isn't rigidly righteous, and her skills as an agent being dulled by her feelings for Hongqi added a complexity to her character. That alone made Mi Lan more fleshed out than other female characters, even more than Yeming, throughout the whole show so far. Though I truly dislike the way Mi Lan's been a pain for Hongshen these past few episodes π
He does still love her, he didnt stab into her heart directly π
And that's understandable! Very Hongqi of him lol. I just dont like how Mi Lan expected that the first time they'd see each other again, Hongqi would run up to her and act like she hadn't just poisoned someone that Hongqi holds very dearly in his heart and that his anger would be gone after she let him stab her π I was yelling at Hongqi the entire time like youre going to get yourself killed! Hongshen has alsready lost enough of his family please don't die! π
Mi Lan really thinks that killing Hongqi's grandma is just something she "owes" him for and that the depth of Hongqi's love for her would extend to him still treating her the same after finding out that she had killed his grandma......
This episode was so hard to watch mostly because of the tension that's now revolving around Hongshen. Again! I will wait for the day that Ling Han finally gets what he deserves, at the very least for how annoying he has been. I am waiting! Seated in front of the TV just seething and waiting! If Hongshen doesn't give him a big fat smack in the end then I will do it for him!!!!! I am cracking my knuckles right now!
Anyway, Cheng Yi has been doing so well at holding down the tension in this drama. Sometimes with these kinds of shows, there needs to be enough tension that makes you want to watch because you're rooting for someone, but not too much to the point where it becomes overwhelming and therefore unwatchable. And more often than not, the tension rests on the shoulders of who takes on the main role. Sometimes, everybody else would be doing a great job playing into their roles, only to have the main role unable to keep up with the atmosphere that has already been created by the other actors. In here, Cheng Yi has been bouncing off of the energy of the others really well so far - Hongshen's siblinghood with Hongqi, his love for his family, his comradeship with Uncle Yang as members of the party, his romance with Yeming, his subordination to Chief Ke, his fragile allegiance with the NBIS, his enmity towards Ling Han (please smack him!) and Mi Lan, and lastly his acquaintance with the ever elusive Kunwu. He's doing an amazing job of tying all of these characters together to him. It's exciting thinking about him doing this again in his upcoming projects. Truly a talented actor.
I need him to let Hongshen catch his breath for once! Also i feel like only one between Ling Han and Ke Jingping is the bad guy because if one is a mole and the other one is Kunwu (or both being enemy agents at least) then arent they essentially working together
I thought she was angry because she had given out a clear order to leave Hongshen alone but they set up a trap for Hongshen and Wen Yeming anyway and that operation exposed Li Miaohan's identity which prompted Hongshen to dish out an arrest order on her lol
It took 5 years to premiere but it was worth the wait, a spy war drama that with each episode becomes more exciting,…
Between this and his character as Li Lianhua in MLC, we can really see how much he has improved as an actor! With Li Lianhua βour cunning Li Lianhua, humbled and wisened by his past, an aloof man who cares very deeply and whose loyalty is priceless β it really felt like he wore the character like second skin. But even when he had less experience as Yun Hongshen, he was still amazing and truly brought a completely different character to life β one who is young, passionate, sharp and reckless but nevertheless a righteous man who stands by the values that he believes in. And that speaks so much about his talent as an actor. We really dont have any other word to describe it except "brilliant".
I like that people can confidently call this drama a "spy drama" because it actually is a spy drama where the characters are actually doing activities related to espionage: wiretapping, using codes to send messages, codebreaking, planting sleeper agents, going undercover, burning evidences of correspondences, surveillance, tracking and profiling people and an actual PURSUIT of intelligence that could make or break a nation. The others (which isnt a lot) that I've seen so far are heavier on talking, but this drama involves characters meticulously trying out-scheme each other in order to secure important information. And seriously, who the fork is Kunwu!!!!!
People should not be allowed to rate the unaired episodes. It is annoying that people actually rate low from eps…
All this fuss by antis on MDL alone over a 5-year-old drama that doesnt even have as big of a budget compared to others......never mind on the domestic side. What's gonna happen once CY's actual high-profile dramas get released π¬
I'm getting the feeling Grandma is a part of this espionage game...The pic that Mi Lan opened up, was the letter…
I actually thought the person in the drawing was Muzhi π That drawing was shown again in ep 12 when Hongshen figured out that he can use the Nine-Square grid cipher to solve the codebook, so I believe it was more about the drawing being a way to clue in Hongshen on the cipher by using Mi Lan. But who knows! The person in there might actually be really important lol.
Wen YeMing, this girl will probably be shot or sth....she's too 'righteous'....in aLHJ, fl was shot too, and gentle…
When Yeming needs to learn how to be more strategic! I'm not sure if I should feel bad for her or annoyed instead because up to this point she keeps getting outwitted by others π she's smart and her sentiments are understandable but she's bullheaded and does not know how to be calculating! Unlike Mi Lan who was able to nudge Hongshen into realizing that he can use the Nine-Square Grid cipher by simply getting Hongshen to look at the door (I still don't know why she did that tbh lol).
Nope, not yet as of ep 10. Up until now they were shooting at each other whenever they metπ They've just started…
Hongshen has only started to learn how to compromise, and Yeming has been stubborn, mostly because she hasn't been given much reason to trust the brothers so far. And I feel like she trusts her boss too much sometimes.
I know this is a five year old drama but they should have done proper promotions for it instead of just dropping…
Genuinely curious about what they have done to promote this drama other than officially announcing it out of nowhere just a few hours before airing π
