People never watch dramas from the point of "reality". Some just want everything Unreal. Reality-wise, they are a young couple. inexperienced. the relationship is very early and the leads basically don't know anything. They are experimenting! it's natural for a 21 yo to act immature or a very proud young man to be easily offended. We get to see brutal chinese parents( something i have seen like this many times in dramas!) and in the end, in my opinion, everything that happened was necessary! or else, the story would have been dull
