Thats really helpful. I'm only reading translated bits of the book which from memory ( could be wrong) it says he was exiled for 7 years but came back early as Empress wanted to see him. CSS has not forgiven him for what he did... I didn't realise there was "other" stuff too that played out at that time of revenge so yes. LBY may have a long and difficult road for forgiveness.

I think there could be heated debate on her decision.....depending on the lens you are viewing this drama. I've started reading a few chapters but may stall as to separate book and drama worlds.

I too, was not enamored with the YS character , however I've read a couple of chapters which provide more background into his parent's lives, their histories and struggles which provides context into explaining some of his behaviours. Nothing in life is black and white.

Thats right. I think the engagement was barely a month and LBY returns earlier than expected. There could be details we miss that are upcoming that Director Fei make change or tweak so we all have to wait and see.

I only watched 6 eps of TLB and kept waiting for ML, thought he had interesting aesthetic but no spark,imo, between him and DD (it was an odd pairing as he didn't have the gravitas that matched his supposed character). Months later I found out it was Fei Lui from NIF. Wow he had grown up.
Now he's really turned the page. He is the Male Lead and he OWNS it. Impressive work WL.

Well said, moving into the Palace with her lack of experience in the world is overwhelming and she is dealing with a raised level of expectations from her family home in which she felt insufficient but survived to a world where the consequences for your actions are devastating to many levels of people.
We all need time to reflect,grow and develop.

Thank you I was thinking about watching it but now after these comments I will pass. Watching dated shows can be quite hard as their make up,locations,hair and general colours,cinematography seem so blatant and obvious.

I'm not surprised - LBY is a passionate person, his hatred is all consuming. Love and Hate are on the same continuum so his love would be all consuming. He doesn't do anything by halves.
