My question too, surely in terms of actual time vs drama time, we can't be going through 10-15 episodes of LBY and CSS being apart? They're not going to come together just in the last few episodes?!?

Yes, I agree that Yang Yang's value to this story appears to be very limited. Her personality, is so meek and mild, yet she is supposed to embody the "pure" virtues of a female of the era. Sometimes those tiresome girls from noble families but display no noble behaviours appear to have some personality or character albeit bad than Yang Yang.

I can't remember so will have to rewatch but is it true that the Empress is "obligated" to WL's mother ,the deluded one, due to the support her family gave to the Empress so they could win the throne?

It was such a lovely moment in Ep 28 when LBY gave the millet bread to CSS as a gesture of him learning to change and adapt to what she needed to feel. The look on CSS face and how she just began to glow and beam with delight. Well acted and well scripted. What does anyone else think of that moment?

You really don't like Yuan Shen do you? But will he comfort CSS in the 5 year gap?

I agree and sometimes the pairing doesn't work due to the script. You would think the chemistry can be carried through to 'save' a drama but no.... I've seen this happen too many times. It can work if the actors have real skills and experience but I think its hit and miss,imo.
