Yes, I agree. CSS does not understand palace etiquette or culture which is made obvious .She gets an opportunity for a "power" moment in front of the 'head teacher' /Emperor .Shes 15 years old and the guy she just realizes she likes has nodded his head to support. Shes going to go for it,imo.

The Consort behaves like a long suffering wife. She really is married to the Emperor and understands his foibles and knows when enough is enough of his rants ( shes probably heard them a thousand times) This Consort is a real wife not a part time show pony.

You've made a good point, There's not a positive or glimmer seen yet of why CSS should like him or be attracted to him.

I just love your commentaries. Literary analysis is so often missed in these dramas particularly when based on well written novels ( unfortunately I cannot read Chinese) however I am fond of a well told story with its ability to entrance and entice a reader to continue on an unknown journey of discovery.

Someone in the comments below said that in the novel WL gets sent away to be married out of the capital and its implied its not a good match....sorry can't remember the details but someone will correct if wrong.
