Lakshmi, you need to change your Username back to 'LoveAllen'! 😆 No one but you can write this ode to your Allen. I first watched Ren Jia Lun work in 'Forever and Ever' and was completely smitten by his acting! He is indeed an A-List actor. Well done on this article.
I learned a new term today, 'presentism'! In my line of work, we call in 'lens' as in "what lens did you use to make a judgement on someone". When watching historical/period dramas/movies, I tend to forget in removing my presentism and do have those judgements on that character/situation when it is not in line with my thoughts/beliefs. A huge part of this behaviour stemmed from the label 'fiction' when watching that show. Time to time, I do pause and reflect why that character irked me. Thank you for the article. It was a great read.
Barely scratch 2nd episode and it feels like a cheap ripoff of What's Wrong With Secretary Kim. And weird use of Christmas music as a background sound... Drop.
So far, so good! I watched it for HHJ and PHS, and did not read the synopsis. What a surprise I got within the first 15mins of this drama 🤣🤣🤣 This show is already addictive from the start.
What a tight and succinct article! I like the general format of the write-up and the comparative methodology you have chosen for the two dramas. As you have touched on, I heartily agree SG does trumps over AIB in terms of their usage of clean and clear symbols, which complimented their simplistic storytelling where the masses are able to follow with ease. (And yes, I also prefer AIB 😉)
This one is my type of historical drama. I have seen a lot of other historical C-Dramas with higher rating and…
I love this review of yours! I agree with you, especially the ML. I find him sexy as he gives that manly vibe than the traditional pretty-faced ML actors. He is also not bad to look at!
I love coming to this comments section. It's like having a supportive bunch of girlfriends who understand my pain of watching this show and why I continue watching it! Cheers to you!
Feeling a bit dissapointed with the screenwriter took the easy way out in revealing where the real Kang Mi Na has been hiding all this time (ref: ep14).
