Ahhhh, makes total sense. Yan Xun in the drama was the better version of this character. In the novel, he was way darker, did a lot of shady things behind FLs back, and lied to her a lot even when she was trying to help him advance his political goals.... He was also trying to control her. Thus, I was able to rationalize Chu Qiao with Yu Wen Yue in the end because of the novel. The novel was beautifully written, but long.

Princess Agents 2017. It's an old drama so you'll notice the old, outdated style, but the story/novel is one of my all time favorites and the actors did great in portraying their characters imo. This is one of the few times when I was actually good with FL choosing either of the MLs. Some may have a different opinon, but I liked both MLs.
