Yeah same, I'm not a DW fan, and wouldn't be surprised at all if he really were an asshole on set. However, most people on weibo agreed it was not right for Yu Zheng to call him out that way. After all, there are always rumors of bad behaviour but people always stop short of naming names. Yu Zheng could get away for putting down DW because he's an industry veteran vs. a rising star.. so it just looked a bit like bullying to be honest.

The production team seemed quite confident they'd get the post-production done by end of year though. They can always engage multiple special effects companies at the same time, which is the norm these days anyways because they have different specializations

Hoping they will also sell distribution rights to Netflix early on like LBFAD.

I'd put 10% chance in Dec, 70% chance in Q1 2023 because there are a few more dramas Youku will want to air first, like Legend of Anle. It'll have more viewership in Jan/Feb because of Chinese New Year (China doesn't get Christmas off) . The CNY slot has traditionally seen more massive hits.. even Mar/Apr is better than Dec.

You're not going to see new historicals until maybe Nov/Dec because (1) it's a politically sensitive time right now around national day and the two CCP conferences and (2) the expensive xianxia dramas tend to air in summer and winter holidays

Because YZ is bullying the weak - a younger female producer from a small studio. Tata will be a much bigger deal if they could release Immortality. Also a lot of HYX fans they'll be Tata's water army for life if they released even just a trailer haha

Yeah another thing - the whole rumor has been spread pretty professional melon accounts with large followings for a while now. I don't know why he's going after these teenage fans who are spreading rumors based on what they've been fed. (He says he'll take it to their schools if need be)

Exactly - it's great if lots of producers are vying to invest. And while I've lost all respect for YZ now, gotta admit he's got good taste (even if you plagarize you still have to pick right)

I think BL was in a weaker position when she signed the project but she's rising fast esp after One and Only and Keep Running.

Yeah the "evidence" he's presented so far is all one-sided anyway. It only proves that the art team was negotiated at the same time. And so what if it is, totally normal for two businesses to partner together and share talent. Before all this drama, I thought it to be a win-win to have this bundle deal.

That and YZ is also paying water armies to boost the topic. You can see lots of one-word reposts in a very short span of time. Look, I really like BL as an actress, but everyone knows YZ is nasty.

There are always a minority of crazy fans in every fan community. I do think BL fans started this whole fight but you would hope LYX fans to be more restrained and just let it go after 2 years. I think there's just a lot of pent up angst over the lack of LYX costume dramas...

I think it's totally fine for YZ to defend BL and clear the air. He can just post her contract, redact anything private, and prove how much she got paid. I don't understand why he's blaming the production company. Since when has production companies come out to debunk every rumor?

Eeek I feel like the drama surrounding this production is starting to eclipse the drama itself. We started with fan wars between BL and LYX fans. Now it's escalated and Yu Zheng (BL's boss) is trending on Weibo for debunking this melon that he contributed Huanyu's award-winning art department in order to secure the FL role for BL. It's all getting a bit ugly, with him sharing screencaps of work conversations and arguing that Tata "begged" him for the art department.

Honestly, it feels like it's all spiraling out of control with BL's poorly timed new romance. It's getting me a bit worried that this side show is going to impact post-production or just turn people off. Let's hope it blows over by the time it airs but realistically it's only going to get worse...
