Loved this drama but when ep. 16 came around it felt like there should have been a few more episodes. It could…
Seon Gyeom's father did get his due. His right hand man quit, he lost the election, and got divorced.
I thought the episode seemed to imply that Dan Ah and Young Hwa were going to work to be together.
I think it is Dan Ah who will eventually take over the company. She finally entered the company as a VP.
Like you, I do wish there were more episodes. I think that with a slice of life drama that is really good, you always want a bigger slice. I also could imagine a parallel world where the writer created two dramas. One with the main leads and another with the second leads with a few crossover and special episodes. Run On was not short on plot possibilities.
That is what I call bad optics. I am not sure how it is overblown. You would hope that the people who can garner the most attention for South Korea (celebrities) would do everything in their power to promote safety and wellness. I would think there would be mask persons on set who sole job is to remind everyone about the rules. And PR people to stop photos from being taken like that. I think it is fair to be critical of everyone there. I think it would do more harm than good to try to assign blame, and the production team took accountability. Lesson learned, teachable moment, and move on. Court of public opinion adjourned.
I would not have used the analogy between disease and viewer habits, since it seems to imply some sort of disorder or abnormality when it comes to certain ways viewers deal with watching dramas. That being said, there is certainly a psychology that is involved. I feel that it can be something that is interesting to study for some and would be beneficial for many. There have been several articles addressing the "dropping" of dramas on MDL. The current article reads more like two people at a picnic chatting about dropping dramas. I think the casualness of the writing is something that invites readers to feel comfortable commenting. And there is no real discussion without readers wanting to comment. Another one is "The Torment of Unfinished Dramas" by Akage_Girl (and one I commented on). I would also recommend checking out "Dropping Asian Dramas... Is OK!" by real_Mokona. That one is really good with surveys and statistics that attempted to visualize how we watch dramas versus how we think we do.
I think a better way to look at the subject of dropping dramas (or watching dramas) is to imagine the viewer and drama as a personal relationship. Simply, some you love, some you don't, and a vast majority are the complicated in-between. Like a relationship, sometimes it is dropped whether you officially say it is on hold or dropped or not. It makes it easy to make broad generalizations, but still leaving room for the fact that every relationship is different.
From my own personal experience, I found that one of the things that stopped me from dropping a drama is that since a lot of Asian dramas are available to watch as a whole series, I wanted to be a completionist. Auto start, queues, and watchlists seemed to be prodding me to not drop. 100 watched dramas? Gone and forgotten. That one drama that still has 20 minutes left on episode twelve of sixteen? It aggravates me. One tip that I can share is that most sites you might use to watch dramas (Amazon, Netflix, Viki) have a way to remove dramas from the queues and watchlists. So those shows that might be stuck there bothering you can disappear and wait for another day. Maybe they won't be dropped the second time around.
Disney probably wants to start a bridge with Korean dramas that eventually leads to Taiwan, and then what is probably their ultimate goal, the Chinese market. I hope that means more and better Asian dramas overall.
While I agree with everything you said, I have to add a caveat. When you are an actress in a conservative industry,…
I would imagine in the entertainment industry, narcissism is more common than not. In a broad way, society feeds into it, and celebrities feed off of it. I would not want people to openly discuss or debate my medical health. As a celebrity, you probably sign away some expectation of privacy and fairness, but more serious situations should deserve more privacy and fairness than the average person is entitled to.

I think a better way to have phrased it would be should celebrities consider children as long as they are actively engaged in an industry (and society) that imposes so many written and unwritten rules. I would rather dial back the focus on one particular instance and look at a bigger picture as a whole. There are probably many other industry-wide questions that probably deserve some discussion rather than having to wade into a specific situation that I do not know much about.
I do have to disagree with you on the idea of the truth that using a surrogate to have a child and leaving them in the US during the pandemic is a problem. Those statements are too broad to draw the conclusion that they are problematic. Could be? Yeah. Is? Not as much. The situation involves lives and livelihoods at stake. I think respect and privacy should rule the day.
I would personally like to live in a world where you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I know the court of public opinion does not work like that, but the rush to judgement or to even take sides is disconcerting. The article does no favors in turning up the temperature in a way that is biased. It is really problematic because the focus started on Lee Jong Suk and his drama and turned into something else. I am wise enough to read the entire article and do some research and clearly know that Lee Jong Suk, the drama, and the scandal are three different things. By the time you get to the end of the article you might need to reread it just to remember what it was about. Others might read just the title or a portion of the article and surmise something different. We all have our thoughts about all three, but the majority of the opinions seem to be focused on the scandal. I do not know what is going to happen, but I do know there is a difference between opinion, fact, evidence, proof, and truth. While it seems unlikely that things will work out is a positive way for all those involved, it is still my hope.
That is a very pointed assessment and thoughtful suggestion. I feel that most of the people who use MDL are fans…
I have come across more dramas besides ones from Zheng Shuang that seemed to have been filmed but never aired. I mean ones like Jade Lovers that are years old. Is there a way to find a list of those? I am curious as to how many dramas are collecting dust waiting to be aired for whatever reasons.
I'm grateful to many people in the comments who pointed out the messiness of this article. This situation is quite…
That is a very pointed assessment and thoughtful suggestion. I feel that most of the people who use MDL are fans of Asian dramas and curious about all things related. I personally would have preferred to leave the last few paragraphs out of the article and let the reader decide to look up additional information. People like to gossip, so perhaps if the writer felt the need to do so, it could have been added in the comment section with some sort of disclaimer.
Does anyone know if there is a list of dramas that have been completed but have yet to air? I mean ones that do not have an air date. I have come across some as I have browsed the site, but is there any way to collate them?
My thoughts are that this article could have done without the last three paragraphs and been a good informational article. The last few paragraphs turn it into a gossip article.
We all are guilty of judging people or situations we do not know and often without any or all of the facts. Even more so here since we can hide behind anonymity of the internet. One of the sacrifices public figures have to make is their lack of privacy, so I am not surprised that people feel the need to comment about anything related to public figures in general. If there is ever a consensus between those involved or decisions by a higher authority, then we can talk about consequences that might follow. I try to stay away from hot takes, or blind takes since I hope what I say matters. I want my words to follow me, not haunt me.
In regards to the situation, I do hope that everything works out in a positive way for everyone involved.
This article might have been best served as the first post of a forum discussion. An informative article should not have a disclaimer about the lack of knowledge concerning the subject being written about. That being said, the passion for wanting to understand the nuances of the different forms of address comes through in the writing. Just from the Asian dramas I have seen, not only are the ways females refer to older males different, but even the translations of those words vary depending on who is translating. Like the writer, I was a bit taken aback at first, but other cues like tone, context, and body language give me a better indication about what the greetings really mean.
i know... cant believe i watcched a 35 ep cdrama and wanted more afterwards XD this is a first, it ended and I…
It is one of the reasons why I like MDL so much. It is like a menu to see what is available. There is no guarantee I will agree or use all the information here, but it helps narrow the focus when I am looking for something in particular to watch.

2020 was a year that those fluffy, positive, feel-good dramas were welcomed. Melodrama and tragedy were ticked boxes for most of the world. I hope 2021 is much brighter.

The ML handled the six years apart way too well so I had to accept it. Show up six hours late and see how upset someone is and then imagine the person you hold dearest leaving and showing up six years later. Still, really good drama and Zhou Yu Tong/Lu Fang Ning might be the only person who could get away with that.

Do not get me wrong, I was disappointed in the time skip, but we basically got a mini second season because of it.
The reasoning and the length of time was my issue too. Surely, there could have been a better story that could have taken them away from each other only to meet again, but that is for another drama.
When they met again, even with the little boy, I just assumed they never really left because that is how they were written the rest of the way. It was a lot easier to accept because we did not have to deal with the time in between her leaving and them meeting again.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I definitely would not have minded more LFN/CSY/TP interaction. I have to thank the writers again for the way they handled the dramatic parts of the show. Other dramas have the mains fit together so perfectly and then introduce so much angst or melodrama which never seems to be balanced. It bogs down the relationship which usually drags the overall plot and leaves viewers wondering why writers choose to use erratic character personalities as a plot device. I was confused about the time skip when it first happened but as soon as they met again, I realized that I did not have to do my own time skip of episodes where messy, melancholic, myopic actions plague the overall plot.
