Title Backstreet Rookie Spoiler
I have watched all eight episodes so far, and I think it is unfair to paint YJ with such a broad brush as toxic.…
Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I would respond by saying I certainly see how you say she is toxic from what you have said. Some of the things she has said and did certainly are not proper in a healthy relationship. I want to say that DH is no perfect boyfriend by any stretch of the imagination and deserves blame as well. All of the characters are flawed so that it adds drama to the drama. I do not mean to say you are wrong in your assessment of DH because the drama does seek to portray him as a sympathetic character. DH is not poor, just not as rich as YJ. I would say he is more devoted than loyal. He tries to be "perfect for her" even if it means not being who he is at heart. He also could have introduced himself to her mom as well, but chose not to. He also lied to YJ too. My personal opinion is that in romantic relationships between two people, there is no 90/10 or even 60/40 blame. It is always 50/50. Once DH and YJ are true to themselves, I think they both will become better people and have better relationships. That is why I hope the relationship is toxic, not YJ.

Dae Hyun's girlfriend is toxic. I don't think any guy should be with that kind of girl. She deserves to be forever…
I have watched all eight episodes so far, and I think it is unfair to paint YJ with such a broad brush as toxic. A relationship is a two way street. DH has had several hiccups with SB as well. Regardless of how long they have been together, DH and YJ comes off as immature relationship-wise. I hope we get to see how and why they got together at some point. During one of last few episodes, SJ asked YJ how long do you think a relationship you have to try so hard will last. It seems to me that neither DH or YJ have tried hard enough in the relationship and that is why it will not last. Being with the wrong person may also make it seem like that too. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion and it might also be just a matter of semantics, but if the word toxic needs to be used, I would prefer to say that the romantic relationship between DH and YJ is toxic for all four of them (DH, SB, YJ, and SJ). Saying all of that, the end of episode eight made it seem like things were about to get really interesting and YJ could very well take a turn to the toxic side. I hope DH and YJ will figure out they do not work without YJ taking it out on SB or trying to turn DH against SB. There are still eight episodes to go, so I am hoping for smooth sailing, but fully expecting a bumpy ride.

Title Backstreet Rookie Spoiler
Just got through watching episodes 7 and 8, and it is getting better and better. A lot more comedy and drama than romance, but I was expecting that after the first few episodes. I personally feel the pacing has been a bit slower than I would like, but also quite a few subplots introduced during the first half of the season as well. I wonder if they will have enough time to resolve them all even if the pacing picks up. Hopefully we will get the DS and GB reveal next week.

they showed a flashback where DH gets bullied and mistreated by his senior. i think DH graduated from a reputed…
If DS means Dal Shik, I do not think that he has a problem being accepted because of his appearance. That is something a certain group of viewers do not accept, but most in the show are friendly towards him, or at least non-adversarial. There are a few people that want to see DH and YJ end up together but I do not understand how that would work for this show. This show has an unusual approach to the traditional drama with the ML and FL role reversal. I also see the DH and YJ pairing as more of the main and best friend type of relationship even though they are dating. You know how the main lead has a friend who secretly loves them and it takes the introduction of the other main to make them realize their feelings and want to pursue them. DH and YJ have supposedly had two years to develop their relationship and it seems like with the intro of the SB, they are going to finally face some uncomfortable truths about their relationships all around. I put some extra thought into this post, so this is my nickel's worth of opinion.

Title Backstreet Rookie Spoiler
I wonder when we are going to get the flashbacks for the start of the DH and YJ relationship. Also, why did he leave the same place where they both worked? I am in the camp that they are both not right for each other, they both know it, and both are too comfortable to want to upset or hurt the other and keep dragging it out. They act like different people when they are together. The drama keeps mentioning two years, and boyfriend and girlfriend without doing anything to make me feel invested in their relationship. Perhaps this is because they do not want to make SB a bad person. It is easier to see DH and SB together since the DH and YJ relationship is so unrelationshippy (my word defined as not possessing the qualities of a real healthy relationship). All that being stated, once we learn more about their past, the show might find itself in an even better place heading to the future.

The fact they have been together for two years and never fought spoke volumes about their "relationship" to me.…
I would consider myself more of a traditionalist where I like to see the main leads end up together and of course a happy ending for them. I even like the flash forward to see kids in tow. I think that it will be DH and YJ taking the friendship and support/healing route. It is obvious they do not belong together from their own interactions, and that is before you include all the external forces working against them. I am really enjoying the show so far, and look forward to seeing where the show goes from here.

When will DH and YJ break up already?!The way YJ's mother humiliated him in front of her, and she didn't say anything…
The fact they have been together for two years and never fought spoke volumes about their "relationship" to me. You fight and argue for and with the people you care about the most. It is no coincidence that DH and SB have that kind of relationship. Even the scene at the hospital with SB and DH's mother seemed to emphasize how close they were compared to the mother only recognizing YJ after seeing her photo. Just stating you have been in a relationship for two years is not enough for me to be emotionally invested in it. I do hope they split up soon as well. I want there to be enough time to properly develop all of the other relationships in the drama.

Dae Hyun's girlfriend is soooo annoying
The most annoying thing is that she considers herself his girlfriend, and I suppose a notch below that is considering Dae Hyun her boyfriend. I say that four episodes into the drama.

I enjoyed that drama as well. A bit more melodramatic than I like, but good nonetheless.

I read the earlier comments and admittedly, got a certain mindset of what to expect. Then I watched the episodes and wondered if I misread the comments or was watching another show. It seemed like two different dramas. The one others were talking about, and the one I was watching. I would say to watch it first and then make up your mind. I like it. Having seen quite a few of JCWs dramas, it is such a change of pace for him. It can be a bit disorienting to see him as a "traditional FL" and the FL to be seen as the ML. I have to go on record to say KYJ is amazing. Only seeing 4 episodes makes me hesitant to comment on any sort of plot development, but I see Choi Dae Hyun as really immature when it comes to love/relationships, and Yoo Yeon Joo not too far behind. Their relationship seems more elementary than adult. They have been together for two years and seems like they rarely meet. She definitely does not treat him like a BF and he seems unable to mature enough to be one either. They looked so giddy hugging as if hugging was a far as they went. All this BF/GF, cheating, and love triangle stuff seems to be nonsense so far. I find it all very interesting, and the more I type the more I think I really like the show. Thanks for allowing me space for my thoughts, and I always make it a point to read some comments on dramas and movies I want to watch and while watching because I enjoy seeing what others think as well.

I posted previously but came across another one that dampens my enthusiasm for a particular drama. Ruin is much too strong of a word. One of the second leads has a one-sided crush on the other second lead and confesses, but gets told it is better to respect and cherish the friendship because they do not want it to be uncomfortable. Cool. The next scene showing the same second lead making a first lead uncomfortable by confessing their one-sided crush. Not cool.

I know it is part of creating "drama", but I get aggravated with the "I have loved you since we were kids and either was never brave enough to mention it until someone forced me to by liking you, or you have never treated me as anything other than a sibling, the entire time, yet I still think we should get together whether you like it or not" syndrome. Maybe there is a shorter name for it. And while it does not necessarily ruin a romantic drama, I get annoyed when the CEO/Boss' assistant is apparently more talented than the CEO/Boss and can do anything. Need personal information about someone? Done. Need inside information on another company? Done. Take over business while I romance? Done, Need a rainbow colored unicorn? Done. It is probably the easiest way to get things done in the show with limited time, but I am not a big fan of it. I also agree with a previous poster about not liking when the lead leave the country and no forms of communication seem to exist. Even worse is when the other lead eventually comes to "understand" the lack of communication and forgives.

Not sure if it was a scene in the show, but probably was his way of dealing with the noise of the world from time to time. A sort of therapy. I think the Korean version had something like that in the show, while this one seemed to be just part of the intro.
