I think writers and director messing up this series by involving puppy more in to JSB life when YYJ broke up with…
I think with the backdrop of a store that is open 24 hours a day, it would be fitting to not have the finality that a lot of the dramas have. Happy ending? Sure. DH and SB together? Yeah. Wedding scene? Maybe not. Although I would not mind another season, it seems rare for Korean dramas. I know there is still four more episodes left, but I also wonder how and if they will tie up all the loose ends.

Lol... I literally don't see any chemistry there. Fans are watching with a rose-tinted glass, I think. Their relationship…
I have been a sibling all my life, and I have to disagree with your relationship assessment. He liked her even before he realized it in my opinion. I would even say this relationship is more realistic than other ones you see in dramas. That being said, we all see what we want to see. I admit I want to see them together, but I do not think it has caused me to see things that were not there. I think this show is getting better every episode.

That was very considerate to spoil the spoiler. I appreciate it. I just got around to watching it. I thought the show was always good and getting better, but the last two episodes (11-12) were amazing. The writing, the comedy, the chemistry and the flow was all there.

Does blowing even help I wonder?
It might distract from the pain for a few seconds. I will also go out on a limb and say it might make a difference if the person of your dreams is doing it versus a very annoying co-worker who just had smothered cabbage with onions and garlic for lunch.

One that is annoying to me in Korean dramas, and other ones as well is when characters think it is okay to blow on a wound as they are treating it. It is probably done for romantic effect, but have a sweet moment after you put on the bandage. I do not want someone blowing germs on me. Of course, I say that in theory because I might get lost in the moment if it happened to me.

I do not know if it is normal. It struck me as odd at first, then I kept noticing it. Now one of the things I do is look at the way the homes and offices are decorated and check out the titles of the books too. Admittedly, it is a lot easier since I tend to watch multiple episodes and pick up on the patterns. I find myself pausing and going back to check things too.

I do not mean to keep piling on, but I would like to add another one. Set decorations. From the weird objects and English titled books that make no sense in a particular workplace to the gigantic photos and posters of themselves that are found in rich or famous characters houses just makes me wonder what they wanted to accomplish.

Another one is when a main and a second lead make a pact to get married when they are children. This is not the classic arranged marriage by the families, but some event that happens and the kids themselves decide it. Twenty years later, the second lead apparently thinks this is a binding oral contract and uses it to push aside the other lead or seems genuinely shocked, saddened, or angered when the main either does not remember or just says it was something silly kids say.

Mine is not just Korean dramas, but other Asian dramas too. One on my most annoying things is actually two parts. Part one having to believe that a 20-something, rich, Ivy-league or upper-tier graduate school educated, star of the basketball team, certified scuba diver, ex-race car driver, handsome CEO of a multi-million or billion dollar company with thousands of employees who all seem to depend on him really exists. For the sake of a good drama, I can do that. But, then comes the second part. One day, he is having a business lunch and then sees his girlfriend hugging some guy in a cafe that is across the street. He then ignores her for a few days until she asks and then he blows up and yells at her. Before she can explain it was a co-worker who just lost a family member, he says they are breaking up and walks with no other explanation. I have probably exaggerated it, but that is how annoying I think it is.

"Just don't call her Yeon Joo" is what I have been saying to myself. I can accept just about anything but that. Maybe he grabs her and pulls her and says nothing and passes back out only to try to figure out what happened later. But I can totally see the "what happened" and "why are you here" response. Along with the obligatory flashbacks as he pieces the events together and the omos, aigos, and awkwardness that follow. He cannot be too surprised since she carried him there though. It would be a classic trope I think. I did see the preview, but it only showed clips of events happening after the incident. I would imagine even if he were to pull her, hug her, and not let go, it would be innocent.

I made my previous comment before I even noticed the newer wave of comments that seem like they are getting out of control. I guess they aimed to prove my point. A lot of the discussion that is getting out of control in this section really does not belong here. The comment section I mean. The wider and deeper issues that people are "discussing" and I use that term loosely, might be better served in a forum setting here, where they can be tackled with better organization and structure. Perhaps some moderating as well. It is getting close to another new episode of BR, and I have been wondering all week what DH is going to say to SB after he pulled her back.

Title Dinner Mate
I really enjoyed this show overall. The main male lead (KHK) was one of the best representations of a great lead I have seen in dramas. It is always frustration when watching dramas when I am forced to believe that a 20-something, rich, Ivy-league/upper tier graduate educated, handsome CEO of a million dollar company with thousand of workers depending on him sees his girlfriend hugging another man in a cafe while he is across the street and then proceeds to ignore her, yell at her, then breaks up with her without even trying to talk about it. In Dinner Mate the ML had his issues, but always acted in accordance with who he was. A really good person who cares about others and is smart enough to use what he knows to resolve problems and misunderstands quickly. In my opinion, long lasting misunderstandings tend to drag dramas, and this one flew by.

I just got through watching the last few episodes of Dinner Mate about an hour ago. I do not want to comment too much since I do not know how much you have seen , plus this is the BR section. I will say that I really enjoyed Dinner Mate. In reference to the madness and frustration that can be seen in comments, I agree. I feel that people probably find it easier to vent anger and frustration than to voice happiness and encouragement. It seems to be a cycle of attack, defend, attack, defend, with very little understanding. Although, just like dramas, if everyone was so understanding, a 16 episode drama might be done in one episode, and a drama comment section with thousands of posts might be only a few hundred and both would not be nearly as interesting.

I can see where you are coming from. The good thing is that neither character (SB or YJ) has gone to the dark side. And I hope that they do not turn YJ into that sort of character either. Plenty of meat left on the bone of Backstreet Rookie with six episodes left and episodes seems to get better each week. As far as future choices, I get my fill of melodrama from the news, so I tend to avoid those. I do hope he continues to stay busy.

the actor playing DS is naturally tanned.. he isnt darkened..SB is 22 and DH is 30.. 8 years is not that big of…
I think your overall idea that the show has issues but none so bad as some commenters have made is on the right track. I think there is also an issue with commenters (in general) arguing over something they cannot define in agreement to begin with. Or when commenters parse statements to take out of context or argue over semantics. I do it myself sometimes. We are all here commenting, not trying to write a thesis. So we should take all the comments (even ones by me) with a grain of salt, and not so seriously. In regards to DS as a character, I do not see the blackface either. A lot of the Asian dramas I have watched have some brighter characters, and even use products for it. He does look out of place though with all of the brighter skinned characters in this drama around him. I do not find problems with him or anyone dressing in a particular style, as long as it seems respectful. It seems okay to me. I take issue with the flies that appear from time to time. The meeting with DS and the Nigerian was also personally uncomfortable to watch as well. Perhaps it is just misguided, exaggerated humor, but it is not even necessary. The flies seemed digitally added, so it seems like they could have just been removed once the complaints grew. The meeting between DS and the Nigerian seemed to last only a minute, and has not been repeated. I also think it is good to be critical of works, merits and faults. This show has both. but the show has been getting better and I look forward to the rest of the episodes.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. You must be a recent poster for this drama. In the time frame of the first few episodes, SB was getting houses dropped on her in this section and YJ was getting the positive light. That being said, I did not think SB was so horrible then, nor do I think YJ is so horrible now. I personally tend to cut SB a little more slack than YJ because she is younger and had a more troubled youth. Not an excuse, but I can see why the drama itself seems to be more forgiving towards SB. This is the first drama I have really consistently commented on and most of my posts point to some sort of immaturity on the part of most of the characters, so I agree with you about DH. I also hope he can develop as well. He has flashes of what I would consider growth but never really seems to stick to it. Maybe dealing with the aftermath of his relationship and growing closer with SB, he might get the chance. I also think JCW is doing a great job here. It only took a few episodes for me to see him as DH, and not as JCW playing DH. He is not an action star who chose to take this role, he is a gifted actor who chose to take this role.

I agree with the statement that SB shows questionable qualities and actions, but all of the characters do. I think that when you used "loaded" words like stalking, infringing, and creepy, it may have led people to think you were a lot harsher than you intended to be. I say that without knowing what DH thinks about the "ten years" so perhaps he might feel stalked. If he feels stalked, then it is stalking and he should say something about it. Some of the other questionable things have clearly not bothered DH to the extent of completely shutting her out. Maybe he is just too nice a guy, or too uncomfortable being direct, or subconsciously does not mind SB that he always seems to leave a sliver of hope for SB to cling to. I feel that only YJ's mother has been really bad and cruel throughout the drama so far.

Very disappointed by how the story is being told. It's not about it being a family drama but just...it's empty.…
I feel that even though it took nine plus episodes to get to their breakup, it was not wasted time. Outside of mention of the two to three year relationship, they had little on screen time together. This is a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, you clearly see the breakup coming. On the other hand, it was hard to be emotionally invested in their relationship for something you could see a mile away. It allowed other stories to be told and the focus to be on the main leads. I am enjoying the show and feel that is is only getting better and better. I do feel there are so many other stories to tell, and wonder if they will have time to do them all justice. Quite a few dramas have had seemingly rush endings, so I would not be surprised if it all comes together really quick. I have seen other comments about Kang Ji Wook (Puppy) and SB in this section. I see Puppy and SB in the same light as DH and YJ. He seems to be a "canard" without the benefits of having SB as his girlfriend. Is waiting for one person for years and years really that healthy? Is a person really that caring if they feel that they cannot share their most honest feelings with someone they have known for so long? I do not think that Puppy with his puppy love is good for SB, just as I did not feel that DH and YJ love was nothing more than puppy love as well. While DH and YJ's relationship ended on a more sour note, I hope that Puppy will at least get some bittersweet closure.

Not sure, but some iQIYI shows are available on Viki.
You are welcome. When you first asked, I looked at your profile to see why iQIYI was not a choice for you. I figured you must have needed Italian subtitles for someone else. I would keep looking from time to time. Perhaps the show might get picked up by either or both of them. On Viki's and Netflix's websites, the help centers have a link to request a show or movie. Nothing is guaranteed, but worth a try.

I like Sunhwa and I really hope that for a change we'll see a couple's progress in a relationship, just like in…
My guess is for many shows, including this one, it is rare to see what happened during the relationship. Were they serious, was it casual, did they overcome obstacles, simply avoid them, did they communicate with each other or just talked at each other. I spoiler tagged this one just to say that this couple seemed to ignore hardships. The years put into their relationship did not get used to build a healthy relationship.
