LOL. Keep a spare room and apply lip balm had me rolling! XD
If your boss needs to live with you, the only thanks you get is your boss being able to "help" you by telling you what you have been doing wrong 24/7 instead of just at work. And to add insult to injury when you get accidentally kissed, you usually get purposely slapped.

Umbrella one hahaha!!
Unfortunately for me, when I remember to bring an umbrella, it becomes a useless third wheel that ends up in the lost and found section of some random place I have been that day. So I only buy cheap ones, which seem to funnel the rain on me instead of keeping me dry when I use them. And if I leave the umbrella in a vehicle, 100% chance torrential rain.

I would add a few more with a healthy dose of humor.
-If your best friend or childhood friend is the opposite sex and you are not in love with them, they are certainly in love with you
-Choose the "bad boy" over the nice one, and the "average" woman over the supermodel.
-If you get fired or dumped, buy an umbrella quickly because it is going to pour down real soon.
-Apply lip balm and use breath mints often. You never know when you will accidentally kiss someone.
-Keep a spare room open or the couch ready in case your boss wants to live with you for some outlandish reason.
-Definitely have lawyer on call 24/7 because you might be required to make or sign a contract at a moment's notice.

Title Dear Herbal Lord Spoiler
I thought it was another light, fluffy, classic 24 episode Chinese romantic drama. Sometimes in today's world, it is just what the doctor ordered. The plot was secondary to the romance. I do not like to criticize dramas for plot development, but I do question one seemingly glaring issue. About 3/4 of the way into the drama Jiang Qing Yun seems to forget she was obsessed with marrying Chu Zi Mo. I know it served to move the plot forward but made no sense.

It really depends on the ~combination of ppl involved.. as there have been bad versions of every type lead (m/f/main/2nd)…
I figured that is what you meant. I cannot recall any drama I have watched that has ended a love triangle in that manner. Of course, it is impossible to know what happens after a drama is over. As long as one angle does not get crushed, then anything is possible. While not specific to love triangles, I would imagine everyone has edited dramas in one way or another. I know I have.
I would say P&H was what I would call a marshmelo. Plenty of sweet and fluffy to go with the melo.
You are welcome about the profile. I do not look at too many, but I looked at a few profiles from commenters on one of the more popular dramas "Goblin" for research, and only one had a photo of any sort.
What about meta-crisis Doctor?

When you say trio-ship, you mean a love triangle that resolves itself in a way that all three characters can maintain a healthy relationship with each other? It has been awhile since I have seen Panda and Hedgehog, but I think that is how it turned out.
I saw your profile and the previous one and think both are well done. I would love to coolly say "challenge accepted' and toss up an amazing profile too, but is not going to happen. I may eventually fill out some info though. I saw a few references to Doctor Who in your profiles. Great series. I wonder what an Asian drama version of Doctor Who would look like?

I can relate to the all the stuff in various queues across different sites. I am almost sure that I either sleepadd dramas to my lists or two dramas get together and have more dramas in my lists because it is out of control. I have subscribed to multiple sites, but do it on a rotating basis so I can have some sort of focus. MDL also helps me prioritize what I want to watch.
I wondered what some of your top dramas are. I could not see your rankings list, but I did see you rated Panda and Hedgehog a 10. It was one of the first dramas I watched. I thought it was very good. While I have certainly seen many dramas, I have only seen less than 10 from your list.

I forget a lot of the details in dramas I considered to be unforgettable. Dramas can have a lot of powerful sensory input. Then I get emotionally invested in it. When it comes time to watch the next drama, I guess my brain just puts it in storage so I can enjoy the next one. I do think there are a lot of shows that make you want more episodes. The really good dramas can make you want more without feeling there was anything left out. Less than 1% of your dramas reach the "really enjoy most" level? I really enjoy most of the dramas I have watched. I did some research and the good news is there are thousands of dramas to watch. The bad news is that when I did the math, there are thousands of dramas to watch. There is something for everyone out there.

Does that mean you prefer open endings over the traditional drama endings?

Bronze madel of year! How moon yong's mother Survive? How Gang Tae and Sang Tae Living Without mother? This drama…
It's Okay to Not Be Okay with aspects of the drama and still think it is overall enjoyable. I enjoyed watching it and felt that it was time well spent. In the real world, we could just ask them to find the answers to all the questions we have. In a drama, we are usually left wanting more. I think that can be a good thing. If all the loose ends were tied up, all the questions were answered, and everything made sense, it would easy to close the book and move on to something else. There are a lot of questions left unanswered, and I am sure viewers have watched multiple times to see if any clues were missed, if there were hidden messages, or simply missed answers because they were not looking for them at the time.
I want to offer a response to one of your questions: How Gang Tae and Sang Tae Living Without mother? I choose to ask why they chose not to show it. I think it would make a good prequel drama on its own. Not going into too much detail about it offers a lot of flexibility in storytelling.
I do have a not so serious question of my own. I would not call it a plot hole though. When did KMY get her nails done? They were different in many episodes.

I generally do not root for second leads no matter how perfect they are because love is an exclusive equation.…
If I were to imagine a scenario where SLS might occur, it would be in a situation like you described in a drama.

I agree with you on how we "watch" a show. I started watching My Wife is Having an Affair a few years ago because…
I do not recall exactly, but I think My Shy Boss might have been like that except in reverse. I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy. Started really melodramatic and fluffed up unexpectedly along the way.
I will make a mental note about The Tale of Nokdu. I still may watch it someday, but always like to have some clue about what i am going to watch.

At least IOTNBO has characters'development compared to this one.
I found the character development on par with each other.

I agree with you that is is overused. It is probably the easiest and most popular way to create drama, develop romance, and inspire comedy. I find it the most problematic when the second lead is one-dimensional, and especially when the second lead is written to go from a nice, friendly, normal person to a bitter, angry, toxic villain.

Thanks for taking the time to write the article. I think you did an excellent job of finding the main reasons that most second leads are second leads. I would like to add another quality that I have noticed in second leads. They fail to realize that the main lead and love itself changes. Love can grow, but also diminish. I do not get second lead syndrome. I cannot say for sure why, but part of me thinks it is because the love of the mains temper the anguish that a second lead feels. In defense of the second lead, they are the main lead of their own life. A really good drama will give you that sense. Of course the easy answer as to why the second lead does not get the main lead in the end is because they are second and love is often heartbreaking to second place. The good news for some seconds is that while you might not get what you want, you might find what you need in someone else along the way.
I would like to ask a few questions to those who have gotten SLS. Do you get it because you think the second lead is just better than the main? Or because the second lead is better for the main relationship-wise? Is it a personal choice regardless of the main or the main couple itself?

which dramas are the 4 in the banner?
You mean the one at the very end with the four drama in one photo? I know the one at the end is called The Romance Of Hua Rong. I assume they have all been mentioned in the article but as to which ones the others are, I do not know.

I have watched quite a few Chinese dramas and perused this site a lot when it comes to looking for other dramas…
Backstreet Rookie is one of the most recent dramas I have watched and my first one where I actively participated in discussions via the comment section. I know how "less than thoughtful" some commenters can be. As far as your self-proclaimed weird affection for full-on historical, or for anyone else who feels they might be seen as weird for what they enjoy watching, I think Emily Dickinson worded it best: "The Heart wants what it wants - or else it does not care."

Although I have not watched it, I do know there are Korean dramas that are popular with minimal or no romance, but I was referring to Chinese dramas. I did add it to my Netflix list so sometime in the past I must have thought about watching it.
Edited for spelling.

I have watched quite a few Chinese dramas and perused this site a lot when it comes to looking for other dramas to watch, and I do not think anyone will hate on you. I think a lot of readers will respect and find common ground with your views. I do not think you are atypical, but I would never consider anyone average either. You fall into one of what I consider the two main types of Chinese drama viewers that use this site. There is the short and sweet (less then 30 episode romance focused dramas), and the long and complex (30 plus episodes with the focus on history and fantasy) dramas. Some people and dramas themselves lean one way or the other, while others rock back and forth between the two. The rare ones seem to be the modern legal and medical drama viewers, especially ones that have minimal or no romance. I cannot even name a show off the top of my head.

I'm honestly so thankful that they share most chinese dramas on YouTube with eng sub. (ಥ_ಥ) ❤️
Yeah, I am thankful for it as well. It can also be aggravating when you see shows that look interesting but either slow to be subbed or not subbed at all. I see that you mentioned The Romance Of Hua Rong among your favorites. I thought it was very good as well.
