i only realised that king yeomra is actually kang lim's father on my second watch... i was so mind blown LOL. i guess i will stay until the credits from now on
also why did the princess release the snake to give he shou ye immortality just so she could kill him and herself?…
yeah the thing is that after she was 'eaten' by the snake, she was kinda still 'lost' in her love for him and hesitated facing reality and qing ming had to show her that the man she loved already died. that's why i thought it was confusing because she went from: i want him to be immortal with me forever --> oh no he's crazy i have to kill him to end this --> but i still love him what do i do --> ok i guess i'll just kill myself so he'll kill himself too
really wanted to like this but i didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would. the story is fun and pretty decent but i felt like something was missing. perhaps the fight scenes weren't very exciting or maybe i just don't like snakes in general :/
also i feel like the movie is too short for me to form any substantial attachment to the characters. in fact i dont quite understand how qingming and boya formed any connection and trust at all...
Honestly, it doesn't really matter. I would just say that you should watch both of them. These Xianxia romance…
the losing eye part in tmopb isnt gory (just very very sad)
personally i avoided xianxia in the past although i loved historical cdramas because of the bad cgi. (aol's cgi is pretty decent)
addressing your concerns,
naive heroes/heroine who have a hard time "catching up" with the villains' machinations - tmopb has a very clever ML who sees through all of the second female lead's schemes. FL is really naive when she becomes a mortal but otherwise as a goddess she is very smart and also can see through all of the second female lead's bs - AOL: ML is smart but the bad characters are his family and he is also filial so sometimes its annoying. female lead is really super naive in the beginning because of her sheltered upbringing but goes through some major character growth
misunderstandings that take forever to clear up - fair share of misunderstandings in both tmopb and aol but we need them to get the plot moving AM I RIGHT ;)
insuffarable second leads/in-laws - they all get their divine retribution so its WORTH IT
sad/tragic ending - both shows have their tragic parts but both have a happy ending!
if you haven't already watched AOL you definitely should!! i started with tmopb first but both are really good! i recommend both! i am now a xian xia advocate. hope u enjoy. PEACE OUT.
first part of the drama is just fluffy and i didnt like it very much. the show definitely picked up when the mortal realm started and from then on it was an enjoyable ride. i enjoyed the 2nd half of the show much more (although it was sad the male lead barely had any screen time in the last few eps). this was the first drama in 2 years that made me cry!! and twice at that!!!!
can anyone please tell me what happens to the empress or how she dies please?? i need to know thst she will die a horrible death or i wont be able to finish this drama.
