i just watched loki and i was kind of reminded of this drama. i feel like this drama would have been decent if the leads didnt spend so much time at boba tea or friend chicken shops and focused more on the plot. as i was watching loki, i had some qns about the multiverse/time travelling aspect, but loki's plot moved so quick i didn't have time to think about the plot holes. this drama on the other hand, was just sooooo slow it gave the audience a lot of time to think about all the things that didnt quite make sense.
For me the best enemy turned to lover drama would be Kleun Cheewit. Hands down the drama would always be a winner…
the show was definitely entertaining and is one of my favourite lakorns, but i'm not sure if it's "done right". from my hazy recollection of the show, their relationship was low-key toxic.
I remember when I read the description for 'true beauty', it surprised me because I thought that they might wanna…
i'm fine with problematic and flawed female leads. people aren't perfect IRL either. and frankly, perfect, nice and strong lead characters, male or female, are BORING. however, the problem is that these problematic female leads rarely, if ever, face any consequence in the dramas. better yet, the audience put them on a pedestal and hail their toxic behaviour as "queen shit".
Well written article, I really enjoyed reading it!! I haven’t watch True Beauty yet because of its message,…
it does not focus much on inner beauty. watch it if you like teen romance and love triangles. otherwise it sends a pretty bad message, just as this article mentioned.
I agree with you also in true beauty they depicted ugliness as situation of wearing glasses having blemished skin…
and the worst part of it is that the show's demographic includes teens, who usually wear glasses and have blemished skin because of puberty. i honestly don't know what kind of message they are trying to give. kids with those description are already struggling with that in real life so why did they choose to further perpetuate that perception?
I htink it's cause the Northern language is quite different to standard (Central) Thai.
Northern, northeastern, and standard thai don’t just sound different. There are some differences in the vocabulary for these three dialects. Usually a standard Thai speaker will be able to understand most of northern or northeastern Thai but sometimes they just need a lil help from the subs. Although I’ve heard some fan subbers being more hesitant to translate dramas (esp if they are historical) with northern or northeastern dialects because the script is sometimes poetic, which makes it extremely difficult to translate.
while i didnt really like the romance between the couple, i loved how the isan life was portrayed here. the set design, the houses, the villagers, the sense of community, the family and the friendships were realistic and portrayed nicely. although, this drama made me feel all sorts of shame since i couldnt actually understand most of the isan dialect even though i am thai 🤣
i've already watched 17 again (and multiple times at that over the past 12 years LOL) so i'm kind of hesitant of watching this. how similar is this to the movie? i've watched 15 min of the drama and so far the start is pretty much the same as the movie but with korean elements added into this (like the ml's job and fl's aspirations etc). im a sucker for reigniting lost love trope so ive watched and read plots similar to this several times. is this very unique or heart warming?
I tried really hard shipping the main leads but I can't , I mean they acted way too well that I literally feel…
yeah i started watching the show after seeing pictures of the main leads from a photoshoot. they had such great chemistry even in a picture. but their onscreen chemistry is almost non-existent. i think dam has better chemistry w sun woo and her friends. i dread the main couple's scenes tgt because its just boring.
at ep 11. i didnt think i'd enjoy it that much but this is pretty entertaining. usually i find courtroom dramas pretty boring. i like that this only focuses on the case that involves the leads in this drama.
