On another note, the actor playing President Han really aced the cold, forbidding antagonist look.
He gives off the vibes of a raptor. "Puny huuuumans. I crush you with my beak."

Is it just me or Choi Ban seok seems to have developed feelings for Dang Jayoung?
If you look at MBC's relationship chart for the show—it's designed like an org chart—Mr. Choi and Ms. Dang's connection is labeled as a type of 공생 (symbiosis). My phone app translated the first bit as "inevitable" but that doesn't track when you work backwards.

Org chart: http://program.imbc.com/Cast/OnTheVergeOfInsanity

Given time, I can imagine them becoming inextricably entwined.

Ep. 15: This show never fails to surprise me. Not a single wasted minute. I'm going to have to clear my schedule tomorrow to devour the last episode. Who would've guessed at the new alliances? I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW!

@irmar—I think you're right. Han Se Gwon's feelings towards Dang Ja Yeong aren't romantic but it's not hate either. In addition to possessiveness, there's also an icky mix of regret, embarrassment and disdain.

I've worked with people like him; the deeply insecure yet entitled blowhard is the one of the worst types. A good manager would fight to keep Choi Ban Seok on his team. I imagine Mr. Han is infuriated that Mr. Choi represents everything Mr. Han is not. Worse, Mr. Choi even gets along with Ms. Dang and has somehow managed to ingratiate himself into her family!

Yee Sang Yeob's performance as the key antagonist has been superb—at once hateful, pitiful and funny.

I'm frustrated by Han Se Kwon rolling in and arbitrarily expanding or contracting the design scope. Would that…
I agree—he's good at sales, particularly selling himself! I'm fuzzy on how Han Se Kwon saved his job. He somehow brought in billions of won but i don't understand the deal he made. I'll let it slide since everything else is so good.

I'm frustrated by Han Se Kwon rolling in and arbitrarily expanding or contracting the design scope. Would that really happen? (It doesn't in our shop—not at that late stage of development.) He's not wrong about incorporating gestures but that would've been discussed in the initial program brief.

Ep. 13-14: Solid gold. Gosh, I actually teared up during the last demo. Ms. Dang and Mr. Choi really bring out each other's best. Their dynamic exemplifies the best aspect of cross functional teams.

I have some quibbles about Han Se Kwon (see spoiler below) but, overall, I freaking love this show. Everybody is interesting. No fillers. So clever and so much heart. I will be PISSED if this show doesn't get nominated for directing/writing/acting awards.

We think this is under the rights of the company and not an individual. That's why.
@Kate—I'm also hoping there's more clarity in the next episodes. Here's what lexology.com says about patents in South Korea:

https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=12fb1521-1461-471d-b460-d73e09d3c13a

The Korean Patent Act does not explicitly prescribe whether a business method or software is patentable. Thus, a business method or software is patentable, as long as the statutory requirements for patentability (the nominal definition of what constitutes an invention, industrial applicability, novelty, inventive step, etc) are met ...

According to the Korean Invention Promotion Act, an employee who has made an invention as an employee has a right to obtain a patent for the invention. When the employee acquires a patent right, the EMPLOYER WHO HIRES THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE ENTITLED TOA NON-EXCLUSIVE LICENSE FOR THE PATENT RIGHT BEAUSE OF HIS OR CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMPLETION OF THE EMPLOYEE INVENTION. The employer may require the employee to transfer the right to obtain a patent, the patent right, etc, in advance or to grant an exclusive licence for the patent right where there is a contractual agreement or employment regulations. Further, the employee will have a right to receive fair compensation, if he or she has agreed to transfer the rights of the employee invention to the employer or to grant an exclusive licence to the employer according to a contractual agreement or the employment regulations.

Is there any bromance or friendship?
Every interaction between key characters is intriguing or funny or cringey—and always interesting.

As of Ep. 10: Established friendships abound but the key pairing is the ML (Mr. Choi) & FL's (Ms. Dang) cautious work alliance. The potential for romance thrums below the surface but it's quite low-key (and perhaps impossible.) I'm actually a shipper. There's a reason we keep referring to lip balm in this thread.

The FL lives with her best friend, Jung Ah, who never holds back. They share a very funny and close relationship.

The 2ML, Se Kwon, and FL are divorced. No love lost between them.

2ML secretly dating 2FL, Na Ri*, who's needlessly jealous of the FL. (*Na Ri is billed as the 2FL but she doesn't appear that much in the first 10 episodes.)

ML has work friends he's known for two decades. Close enough to be "hyung" and for after-work drinks. These people truly respect his talents—even if they give him sh*t.

Not sure if a bromance will emerge between the ML and 2ML. 2ML is really an awful person; any bromance necessitates a redemption arc for Se Kwon. Genius software developer Mr. Shin is beginning to show signs of grudging respect for ML, Mr. Choi. I hope to see a friendship bloom between those two.

Finished Ep. 16 this morning. I enjoyed it for the most part but it was like eating a yummy serving of soup only…
... the second instance of noble idiocy (in the last 15 min.) was a kick in the teeth. Not to mention the f*ing THREE-year time skip. It's obvious that the OTP still cares for each other but what the future holds is open-ended. And I'm sure that's exactly what we all signed up for. An open-ended rom-com.

[laughs bitterly]

Ep. 15 highlighted this show's best elements: Gut-busting slapstick, a soupçon of embarrassment and lots of love—not to mention the weekly real estate lessons. I know many viewers griped about the noble idiocy (myself included) but the show actually explored angst with a deft mix of humor and tenderness.

Looking forward to tomorrow's denoument.
