Chairman Han was very good in Ep. 10 today. He's an enigmatic, greedy, and possibly cruel figure poured into sharp suits. He's absolutely brimming with BDE.

I first saw Jo Bok Rae as a supporting actor in the 2015 film, A DRAMATIC NIGHT (aka LOVE GUIDE FOR DUMPEES), the fun sex romp starring Han Ye Ri. He plays the ML's shallow, horny best friend. That dork couldn't be further apart from Chairman Han.

On the Verge of Insanity is one of the better dramas of its genre by far. I am always on the verge of my own insanity…
Ep. 10: Is there a way to add an 11th or 12th star to my rating for this show? I can't talk or think about this show without cursing. It's so outstanding.

I think Shazam app can help you.
Hee, hee. I was feeling lazy.

When my mother was alive, she was my personal Shazam for classical music, film scores, Broadway musicals and operas. Buried in my brain is all the music she played around me, from my birth to college.

Once, I was trying to identify an earworm that had been plaguing me for days. I couldn't sing to Shazam and gave up looking for an app. So, I called Mom, hummed a couple measures and she immediately said, "Oh, that's Ennio Morricone. The Sicilian Clan!" (Specifically the first song on the film's soundtrack, "Il Clan Dei Siciliani.")

It's the heartache episode. Funny and sad. Looks like they'll come to their senses next week (Ep. 13).

what mean "inevitable symbiosis" -_-
Heh. It's been a while since I've taken a biology class. This National Geographic article describes 5 main symbiotic relationships: mutualism, commensalism, predation, parasitism, and competition.

https://www.nationalgeographic.org/article/symbiosis-art-living-together/

You can see at least 4 types of symbiosis in this drama!

Ms. Dang and Mr. Choi represent a MUTUALISTIC symbiotic relationship where both benefit from their partnership. Additionally, Ms. Dang happily lives with Ms. Shin, her best friend and Mr. Choi's supportive family takes care of each other.

Isn't it fair to call Han Se-kwon a PARASITE—both to his fellow engineers and to the company? All of his decisions are for his own personal benefit, regardless of who he hurts.

At a higher level, one business buying a part of another could be a form of PREDATION. Firing staff after using them feels like predation as well.

Thoughout the company, there's a sense of COMPETITIVE symbiosis—amongst individual engineers & executives, teams, and other competing companies.

National Geographic describes COMMENSALISM as "one species lives with, on, or in another species (host). The host neither benefits or is harmed from the relationship." Not sure if there are examples of this in the drama. Is that like a worker who does the bare minimum without harming or helping the company? *shrugs*

Have you seen the character charts on MBC's website? http://program.imbc.com/Cast/OnTheVergeOfInsanity. It's arranged like an HR chart—with older headshots of the more senior cast, including our Mr. Choi in a plaid shirt.

I used my phone's Google Translate app to translate the relationship descriptions between the four leads:

Between Ms. Dang and Mr. Choi (a line with no arrows): inevitable symbiosis

Between Ms. Dang and Han Se-kwon (double arrow): hate, anger

Between Se-kwon and Nari (double arrow): love

Between Ms. Dang and Nari (one way arrow from Nari to Ms. Dang): check* & jealousy, antagonism

*What does "check" mean in this context? Scrutinize? Probe? Investigate?

Ep 9 - awesome cliff hanger!
I just rewatched the promotional trailer. It barely does this show justice. I mean, I'd never guess this series would be THRILLING. It is the highlight of my Wednesday.

I feel ya. Instead of savoring this episode, I'm setting it aside to watch together with tomorrow's show. Hopefully, they'll spare us the agony and not drag it out beyond this week.

What's cork blorking?
@Aishwarya Nazre —Now that I think about it, "fork" is the curse word they used the most in The Good Place—in various colorful ways as we do on Earth. Also used "bench" for b*tch.

I love how sci-fi/fantasy explores minced oaths. Battlestar Galactica (1978) originated "frack" which still has the same plosive feel as the original word. Farscape (1999-2003) used "frell" for their minced oath but it lacks the harshness of the "k." Interestingly, Firefly (2002) used Chinese for cursing or obscene taunts. Good to be multi-lingual!

Ep. 11: It's foolish for me to say things like, "I didn't sign up for this" when the very act of watching a kdrama romance means "signing up for this." Aigoo—the constant cork blorking is wearing me down.

I agree that Eui Joo's a solid friend. Probably the one you'd call if you had to bury a body. Yes, she's petty & pushy but how many people in this world can you call when you have to poop and need someone to hold your place in line?
