Yeah, you can know straight away that it is not Xuanye from the expressions alone. Then when he started to talk, it is more apparent even more. When he wake up, the first word he said is 'Banxia?' and his gentle voice returned. Its a very well done scene. You can catch the different even without the script telling you that they switched bodies.

I totally agree with your view regarding making her feel like she is crazy. I hope it is revealed later that he actually didnt know the existence of demon before that. Because if it is, it is certainly bad parenting.

lol totally understand. But his tragic dramas tend to be his best dramas. But I truly cant watch One & Only anymore. I made a mistake of rewatching it 2 years ago and I cried even more than the first time I watched it lol.

They cant have any intimate or kissing scenes on One & Only since it will be against the nature of both leads and the overall theme of the drama. Both are honorable individual with duties and responsibilities. Plus, FL is engaged to another person mostly the whole of the drama. So, all the sweet gazes, tender longing looks broke your heart since you know that's the only thing they can do.

One & Only is an example of a romance drama without any intimacy in them. Yet, it is so beautifully acted by the leads that made you believe that their love will stand through time and multiple lifetimes. ❤️

He has many intimate scenes in Forever & Ever imo. The way Shiyi always put his hands around Zhousheng Chen and how they always in each other embrace, it was a very good romance drama to show intimacy between married couple. I wish we have more such stories in Cdramas. Dramas that actually focus on gentle touches, recurring love gestures, soft gazes and tender & meaningful conversations. Forever & Ever is a peak romance drama for me. The first time I watch it, its like watching something that I always want but more. That drama is my comfort watch tbh.

I had the same thought about the Mum being a nine-tailed fox but its too coincident to be that way (lol) but at least if Banxia is half demon, then Xuanye and her belongs together. :D

I may not agree with the Dad but I understand his reasons for it. He is after all a good Dad to Banxia thats why she grew up to be such a fine and kind young lady. If I have gift of seeing demons/ghosts, I would like to use the calming cream as well (esp as a kid) since seeing those kind of things is indeed scary. And all parents want are the best for their kids, so wanting a peaceful life for them is only natural. If he agrees with the relationship with just knowing Xuanye for a few days, it is more weird. I think he will agree later once he really know Xuanye and why he is the most suitable person to be with Banxia. Good parents always did -- they just need time to make that leap of faith that their kids will be fine despite their choice might be road full of thorns.

Yes, when they first show the murder scene of Xuanye's family, his father last words gave away a lot about his identity and future heartbreaks and also how the sword will 'only open when it is ready'. During that scene, I pretty 100% sure he is adopted and the bracelet tattoo sealed his identity. His Dad found him when he fall with Banxia from his original place the 'Carefree Land'.

The kid with Xuanye's Mum and Dad is his older brother. During the whole scene, (while I was crying heavily lol), still back in my mind I'm afraid he gonna find out that he's adopted in that scene seeing he didnt exist yet in the picture. Luckily he didnt. I guess he gonna find out in today's episode. OTL

Okay, why not all of us stop watching the previews and see the posters? 😂 They always spoil it for us and it is such a sad thing since the Painting Demon is a good revelation! I did not predict that at all but yes, if you look and pay attention at the details, he is indeed questionable. I did notice how they other 2 brothers always ask him to 'shut up' but nice Xuanye to notice how only him change. I always take pride in reading clues in dramas so I'm so happy when I'm wrong like this. A good twist is a good twist! And the most awesome thing is how he is only a bug -- okay, that is a very good revelation as well.

And regarding the brother.. I mean its pretty obvious that he is not a good news at all. When they switched bodies and Xuanye starting to behave like him, I knew right away he is not Xuanye. There is arrogance in his voice and anger in his mannerism when he noticed the tattoo is the reason they cant find him before and now the protection has weaken, he can find him easily now. My guess is that since his brother is a full-fledge demon, thats why the bug bites him. While with Xuanye, the tattoo still half protects him -- look like the tattoo only works when its him.

And Banxia's mum is definitely suspicious! The clue is how she's not aging so I think my theory that Banxia is half demon is correct after all.

And yes, I do I need to say how awesome is our girl Banxia? Straight forward girl is my fave kind of girl in Cdramas. He still doesnt want to admit his feelings? Well, she will force that confession out from him anyway. Girlie knew for a while now that he's a demon and despite she finally confirmed it, it never make her hesitate, and that makes her awesome as a character.

Yes, so many in the last 2 episodes. The part where live forever happily inside the painting is sure scary -- its not really heaven when you are repeating the same thing over and over again. It is more like hell.

This is so cute! She actually ran away in embarrassment. 😂

lol I cried so much watching this episode. When Xuanye's Dad walked past him, my heart dropped just like him when that moment happened. 😭 Then the part when he just froze watching his family, cant take his eyes off his Dad, then taste the pickled vegetable that his Mum made, the whole thing is just too heartbreaking for me. I wish I can experience this kind of thing too and see my late Mum, how I missed her so much. 😢

Anyway, another excellent episodes. I love how the writer keeps giving us emotional moments like this in the middle of all mysteries, yet, it wasn't a filler scene as this is where Xuanye gets the clues on how to break away from this painting's illusions. I also love the question that they posed on whether to leave the junior monk keeps living in this painting or bring him out where he will be an old man with no youth left in him -- there is no right answer for this question. This drama seriously keeps getting better and better. I'm utterly impressed.

I said the same thing! Even when they argue its utterly cute. I was laughing the whole time! He even sulked and she has to stop him. 😂

I cant stop rewatching it. 😂 Lots of their moments are so cute. Like when he tied his hand with hers. Or when he scoops and carry her with one arms, yes please keep them coming! :D

Rewatching yesterday's episode again since I really love it. This is probably one of my fave confession scenes in Cdramas. One thing is how heartfelt it is but also because it is masterfully acted by both Ren Jialun & Song Zuer. There is this deep sadness in Xuanye's eyes when he said 'You can marry anyone, except me...' or 'Its okay if you didnt remember, as long as I remember.' -- in both times, this is the sentences that struck Banxia like a sword -- she didnt remember this guy but what he said seemed so true and real. Song Zuer is brilliant in this particular scene -- her expressions are confused yet from her tears, you know she believe every words that he said -- her mind might not remember him but her heart does! A less capable actors will make this scene not as impactful as we got from the drama -- I love every second of it. 💔

My favourite episodes so far. So hilarious but utterly heartfelt at the same time. I love how Xuanye always know its Banxia in just one look. Like in the Puppet Demon case, Banxia just said one sentence and he knew something is wrong and check her hands for the protection spell. Then in this episode, he just touch her hands when she's about to fall and knew right away that it is her small tiny hands. I love these little details on how much he actually know her.

That said, feisty Banxia is absolutely hilarious. Even Xuanye is speechless. 😂

Then comes the heartfelt confession -- this is why I'm such a big Ren Jialun's fan -- that soft, tender way of speaking and how when he looks at his FLs, like he meant all those words. I could literally feel what Banxia is feeling at that time -- she have no memories but this one particular man looks so sincere and sad, there must be something true in his words..

Yes, the storytelling is very well done. Everything flows like a water despite all the interwind clues and demons who seemed all connected to Banxia and her Dad & Mum. The plot could be convoluted due to this all connections but it is so well written that it doesn't seemed that way at all.

And yes, the cat story really get to me real bad. I have 2 black cats like that so I cried extra hard lol. How desperate he is that he is even willing to sell one of his lives for merely $200 for Xuanye's Demon Hunter fee. It broke my heart so bad.

Like the Cat Demon selling his lives so that he can afford Xuanye's Demon Hunter Fee is not been spoon fed to us but we get that from the subtext of the script. He is so desperate that he is even selling one of his lives for merely $200. T___T

The little details I noticed in Puppet Demon case: The writer opt to do Deceptive Storytelling with this case as this is all planned by Xuanye to lure the Demon out. This is one of my favorite writing methods as the Director will show us one 'narrative' on screen in order to fool us BUT at the same time give us many hints on why we should not trust that 'narrative'. And what I find amazing is how effective is the directing & acting in this particular episode since I can catch something is wrong with some out-of-behavior things that Xuanye did. First, with the eyeballs, ever notice why he brings them everywhere without reasons? Then when consoling Banxia's cousin, he actually touch his hand which is such an out-of-character thing for him to do, then we know why later. 😉 Then, when he take Banxia hand and say thank you to her with that long smile and her awkward expression 😂 -- that again was weird and I was taken aback and I'm glad that there is actually explanation for it as there is no way RJL and SZE is doing bad acting for that scene. I love how effective those are since now everything I questioned in the plot actually have reasons and make sense.
