What really bug me with the ending is how the writer betray her characters and her writing at the end. What was a top-notch writing with intricate details from the beginning being reduced to get cheap tears from the audiences.

I truly truly didnt mind sad ending. A good sad ending that are logical and made sense are my jam. One & Only? One of the best love story ever told. Love of Nirvana? Great things cant be achieved without great sacrifices. Goodbye My Princess? No other fitting ending than what we got in the drama. I live for those heart wrenching pain. But, you have to write a proper good endings for it to be memorable. Not writing it like this where it didnt make sense. Any sense at all.

The writer could have made Xuanye managed to save the Carefree Land problem in those 12 years with all the future knowledge, she didnt. She could make the key to the human world working normally so he can freely travel between the 2 realms but no, she decided to make the key useless and broken. They could make Banxia follows him to that world as she is missing happiness anyway, yet, she didnt again. She could make everyone forgets, NOOOOO, I need to make they remember EVERY DAMN details. Yes, the utmost pain to my characters that apparently didn't suffer enough throughout the whole story. 😃😃😃

The Writer that purposely wrote something tragic just for the sake of tragedy.

Imagine a drama, that has been respecting the audiences' intelligent from Episode 1 but taking us as fools for the conclusion. No words can describe how utterly disappointed I am. 😂

The writer gave us 2 episodes to show why their love is so strong that it even can stand destruction and defy destiny. A simple scene to show her popping up, smiling at him while he is at the land would be suffice. But she doesnt even want to give us that...

He cant even do that in the end since the writer made the key ~broken~ conveniently. To further emphasis why he cant no longer travel between the 2 realm. She adamant to make it a sad ending. Betray the audiences and betray her own writing. lol

Yeah, I dont understand how can someone greenlighted this ending. It betray the whole message of the drama. Which is so weird when the writing has been top notch for the 36 episodes.

It really out of character. She is written as someone who we can predict her moves and actions. Thus, we know she supposed to follow him to that land. Yet, she didnt. Thats why I wrote that the writer betray only only the story, but the characters as well.

It really could been an epic love story. Like you, I was crying like a fountain during the whole 2 episodes since why on earth they made him remember? Then they made her remember? Why they made everything so heart wrenching? I'm losing my mind tbh. And gave us that ending.

I didnt cry for the ending at all. That was a crappy ending. It did not deserved one bit of tears from me.

Ren Jialun's dramas, despite have tragic endings (to be fair, the guy is in 16 dramas as a lead, ONLY 4 with sad endings so he is not a Bad Ending Ambassador like people love to spread around), usually make sense and suited the plots and stories. But this one just betray the whole theme, story and the characters itself.

All over the drama, we have have the leads working together and always find solutions to all their problems, together. All over the drama the theme is how human and demon can co-exist together were repeatedly proven and shown. They spent 2 episodes showing how the Black Panther brothers has been trying to save their lands for the past 12 years -- Xuanye with the future knowledge and memories. Then, we got that ending? It didnt make any sense, like any sense. Zero.

Seriously, the whole writing has been like 10/10 from beginning. One of rare dramas where each episode is better than the last. One of the dramas where they put interesting and refreshing situations to give us such an epic stories with many good lessons. One of the dramas with intricate and detail writing that took your breath away. One of the dramas where they trust the audiences' intelligent to understand and make the connection themselves. One of the dramas that actually funny, heartfelt with genuine emotional scenes.

Then, they gave us that ending....

I'm off the watch Forever & Ever to heal. I seriously cant make sense with this ending. If anyone can make me understand the stupidity behind that ending, it is greatly appreciated. I cant believe that they actually stumbled on the landing.

What could be an epic love story how the couple actually survived the test of time and destruction, finding each other again, remembering each other despite all hope is lost, being reduced to that ending. What is the point of all the foreshadowing, silver linings that being scattered throughout the last arcs? Just to play with our feelings?

Before the express 6 episodes drop in 1 hour time, I just want to point out another details on what makes the writing is so amazing for Demon Hunter.

Remember Xuanye draw the Cause-Effect Sword in order to save Banxia? The effect of the sword is that they totally erased Mr Cui (Xuanye's Dad worker) & Mrs Cui from their lives that is why Mr Cui missed the recruitment notice in front of Xuanye's Dad shop. And now, Mrs Cui doesnt have any memories of Banxia saving her or memories of Xuanye as well since her husband didnt work there. So, it meant that her husband is still alive and now a blacksmith and her, since Banxia didnt interfere with her fate in this new timeline, will probably die as no one going to save her this time around. And what makes the writing so amazing is that they have set up this Mrs Cui in earlier episodes when Xuanye visit her house when she's sick. So, the writer already planned for this arc to happen since early on and have set the stage for it.

Also, point to notice how since Banxia will no longer have White Crow curse on her as Xuanye already killed it (the cause), so the Mirror Demon also didnt exist and thats why we can see Banxia dancer friend is eating a pear after that.

Also, the night when Banxia forgave Xuanye when she's sleeping holding his hand and they made up -- it also didnt happen that is why when Chi Zhe asked them if they made up, she said 'No' and she is still grumpy a few days after that when the marriage date announced since technically, she and Xuanye never reconcile properly. So, the heartwarming proposal that Xuanye gave her is the point that they are together again. :D

Also, the Cause-Effect Sword opened up this time for Banxia since she just interfere with fate by saving Mrs Cui but it wasnt time for her to die yet. But, the sword didnt open when Xuanye wants to save his Dad or his Constable friend since it was fate that they died that day.

This is all I can contribute after watching the latest 2 episodes. No words 😂

I love how everything has meanings and served as clues for us. And some even traced back episodes before the revelation. It is such a well written drama. I'm having fun getting all the nuance in the script.

I dont think so. There will be scenes where Banxia will draw Xuanye's back and stop Xuanye on the street but he doesnt recognize her. I guess he really change fate again during that arc. I guess we will find out tonight. It looks another devastating plot coming up and I'm excited lol.

Yes, it made perfect sense. Since now the fate has transferred to her. He cant used the sword for his Dad or his friend since it was time for them to die but not Banxia. Banxia interfering thus it was not time for her to die -- thats why the sword opened. Thank you for pointing it out. From the trailer they released 2 years ago, it seemed that everyone later will forget except Banxia (The sentence Banxia asked her maid 'Why you all forget?' still clearly in my mind). I wonder if Xuanye used the sword again and resulted with that. T__T

The good thing is that we gonna get the 6 express episodes tonight so the wait wont kill me lol.

TBH, I'm nervous starting episode 27 & 28 since we got the usual signature RJL's sad and yearning look and I'm not ready for angst ridden arc yet! 😂 But I'm surprised that I actually really like how they handle the whole thing. For starter, it shows that our leads are flawed individuals BUT the conflict that they faced is indeed not something stupid but valid. If I am Xuanye or Banxia's Dad, I would think thousand of times before I start a relationship or let my daughter with someone with a job that is so dangerous. But, the way Banxia handled the whole situation made me love her even more. She told Xuanye that relationship is between 2 people and he is not fair for taking her agency to chose. And I love our man Xuanye actually take those words to heart and go to her father to bless their relationship. Plus, all the funny bits on how Banxia trying to ignore him but failed the moment he called her. 🤣 Or the scenes where she pretended to walk but actually just stay in one place. Oh my my, Banxia just keeps giving me reasons to love her even more. What a fantastic writing for a FL!

That said, this episode probably give me the most uneasy feeling when Xuanye used the Real Felicity Sword to save Banxia. The butterfly effects gonna be bad and I can sense it from miles away. I'm actually really worried as the effect trace back from the times the Dad is still alive. Remember they got 3 workers? Now its only 2 as the one of the workers missed his Dad's Recruitment notice and become a blacksmith instead. And Mrs Cui (the worker's wife), the one Xuanye visited in the beginning for health problem and give money? Now, she has become a stranger to him as this one worker no longer work for his Dad. And Banxia, saved the same Mrs Cui yesterday but now they totally have no idea of each other's existence. This whole relationship between them and Mrs Cui is completely severed and erased. Now I wonder whether its gonna escalated to anything else. Like Xuanye said 'they probably already lost something that they didnt even know.' I love how amazing this whole scene is written since it traced back to the times when I thought the visit Xuanye did to Mrs Cui's house is filler in the earlier episodes but actually it didnt as it served a purpose -- for us to see how severe is the effects on this sword. Also, it also interesting as the sword finally 'opens' when it refused to open when Xuanye's Dad is dying or when Xuanye wants to use it for his constable friend during the Cat Demon arc. It means, fate has in store that Banxia survive this ordeal as she will be crucial part in Xuanye's destiny later. While this is actually a good sign, its still made me feel very uneasy.

Now I'm off to watch the latest episodes. I hope yesterday episode will be light as now they are together again. :D Hope the Red Snake episode gonna end well as well. I actually like the guy and that red snake form with all the wings are the coolest out of all the demons we got so far.

Yes, in every detail. I love the subtext in the script the most. Most of the times, the writer didnt spoon feeding us the information so we have to read it ourselves. I love when writer actually trust the audiences to understand the nuance of the story on our own.

Since now we are moving to new arcs in the drama, I want to point out some of the details that I absolutely love in the drama regarding the demon's world.

When they entered the Mirror Demon's world, the sky is the reflection (mirror) of the town. And when they entered the Painting Demon's world, the sky is a painting. I love how the nature of the demon reflected in the sky -- they cant really create a completely real world so the flaws can be seen in the sky.

Yes, they switched bodies and the spear repels him when he touched it since he is not the owner but the brother's.

And yes, they are so cute! I personally think all their moments are super cute. I rewatch it often. XD

The father did what he thinks the best for him. Sealing his identity and let him live a normal and happy life is a good thing since he thought he can protect Xuanye forever. But he also teach him the right thing that not all demons are bad. That is a good teaching (remember, his father even let the tiger go once he sees the 2 cubs at the cave) and it will help Xuanye reconciled with his identity later. I really like his Dad. I cried a lot when he meet his Dad again in the painting. You know he is a good father with how much Xuanye cant take his eyes of him when he met him again. T__T
