I already fell out of love for so many years with Kdramas. I found it too predictable and formulative. And I cant take the pretencious endings! ;_; But then I come back once in a while when masterpieces like Secret Forest, Flower of Evil & Mr Queen comes out.

Before Xu Xuan 'sacrificed' himself at the last episode, he told Qi Xiao to tell Yao Yao that the promise to met at the bridge wouldn't be broken (even if he perished) so he fulfilled it like he always does. He never broke his promises to Yao Yao. Like Qi Xiao said, Xu Xuan has cheated him many times and what he learned is that Xu Xuan will play every trick there is possible to do things that he wants until it succeeded.

There are 2 endings. But the happy ending makes more sense as it lined up with all the events that happened before FL went into the pagoda.
1) How the ML never broke his promise once he promised something to the FL
2) Madam Li told him to take care of the FL himself when she finished her punishment as no one else will do that except him
3) ML told 2ML to tell FL that the promise to meet at the bridge would not be broken even if he perished.
4) He fulfilled all his promises and meet her at the bridge eventhough he is late.

The happy one is he met her at the bridge like he promised before she went into the pagoda. Before he 'sacrificed' himself at the last episode, he told Qi Xiao to tell Yao Yao that the promise to met at the bridge wouldn't be broken so he fulfilled it like he always does. He never broke his promise. Like Qi Xiao said before, if Xu Xuan set his mind on something, he will do it no matter how impossible -- he will find ways to do it.

I personally feel that 2022 is the best year for Cdramas compared to the other countries. I basically only been catching up since there is so much I want to watch but havent really got the time. I hope it will continue in 2023 as well.

This is because they reshoot the ending after the survey they made online on who should the FL lead ended up with. It caused quite a stir since the production team willing to change the integrity of the story based on the audiences' preference.

You can get most in HD back in the days at these LJ communities. And the subs quality are impeccable aside from the HD 1080p videos. Like the songs were even in karaoke version when it was played in the drama. But now you are right, most old dramas are not even HD.

Maybe watch it on small screen to mask the terrible quality lol. I wanted to give you download link for this drama in HD but I cant no longer access to the place as well. But I had mine in my harddisk so I can rewatch it anytime I want.

Sorry, I downloaded mine long ago from LiveJournal communities -- there is where we used to get our HD dramas. But these communities are long dead I'm afraid.

I think you can try Dramacool or KissAsian. I watched this long ago since I used to download my dramas. I just leave this review recently when I updated my DramaList.

Even from the poster she looks like a female. Its actually interesting that a lot of people were shocked to know she is a female years later. I wonder why they make such a casting decision.

I miss Jung Kyungho and he looks absolutely fantastic! I really wish its a good romcom.

Ahh I see. I thought the villains got a redemption arcs like they always did in this type of dramas. I'm tired of Kdramas pretentious endings tbh. Seeing your reasons why it is such a trash ending, I wonder why they even bother to make a story when they always always ruin the ending at the end.

Me too. Esp Emergency Declaration which was an all-stars casts. I was rolling my eyes so much during the movie. It surprise me that I didnt walk out from the cinema.

But these old men usually give you the best performances. Like Hwang Jungmin for an example. Great great actor!

The Japanese ones is way way better. I'm a fan of both actors of the Korean version but it didnt make me cry as much as the Japanese version did. I ugly cried -- like there is no tomorrow haha

You need to watch One & Only first. Then, I assure you Forever & Ever will worked wonders and do their magic. Both show ruined romance drama for me. Everything else just paled in comparison after that.

Have you tried Forever & Ever? Its literally a marriage drama without much drama and angst.

Cdrama Forever & Ever. Basically ruined romance drama for me. The drama is literally no angst but show how marriage should be -- complete and utterly understanding of each other.

Can I know why the ML didnt come back for Season 2?
