I still enjoyed this so much more than Nirvana in Fire…. NIF was just….. I mean I don’t know if it’s coz…
Its not because its a much older production but because Joy of Life is a lot more fun and funnier but maintain the same smart script and brilliant scheming and mind games.
If you don't mind binge-watching, I recommended 3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu, A Murderous…
Yesh, thats what my problem is with what otherwise an excellent story. As a viewers, you got frustrated with his choices but he on the other hand was painted as a hero throughout the story. If they actually stick the source materials, I might actually will give a higher rating for the drama.
Like I like what they did with The Bad Kids. Despite the censorship they managed to create a masterpiece. I like how on the surface its a 'happy ending' but when you analyze the everything, the ending was the total opposite.

Regarding The Long Night, while watching the drama, do you realized that the obsession of the ML on the case is the very reason why he ended up that way? Because when I watch the drama, my problem is how they whiten the ML character like a hero while in the novel, his obsession was highlighted which is one of the main points of the story.
is the hero a coward, i mean i am 21 episodes in , hero says he doesn't wanna sacrifice anyone for his sake or…
The ML is not a coward at all. He is more like an idealist where he doesnt want anyone to sacrifice or die for him. That is why he lead a very laidback life where he doesnt want to show off or have any desire to inherit his father's position. But the great things about him is that despite not wanting all of it, he know he cant escape his destiny but he wants to do it HIS way and not his father's way which will involve more deaths. He is the type where he doesn't want to sacrifice anything in other the achieve his goals (between love or power for an example). So when he said he will achieve both, I believe him since he has the brains and capabilities to do that.
Can you be more specific on which scene he just let the other die for him? He truly did not have any martial art skills thus he actually cannot fight and be more useful during combats. But there is one scene where a woman said he is a hypocrite and asked why he let his soldier die fighting while trying his best to save innocent civilians and his answer in that is gold.
Yes, besides the FL being Feng Tianyi and Yi Fuling's daughter, there isnt much other tie to it
Thank you! This is why I kinda dislike S2 because they always put stain in the relationship just to have more dramas for the characters. I always prefers new drama rather than 2nd seasons with the same actors because I always afraid that they gonna ruin the drama that I already love.
When you said they died protecting the Wing kind, are you saying the Wind kind extinct in this series? Or they won the battle but both of them died?
I'll never understand why the FL's character is despised on here - sure she has some moments that make you roll…
People dislike her since she is manipulative. She made the choice for Hyun without asking his opinion first and drive Min into a corner where he felt he has no choice but to kill Lee Joonyoung. Had she didnt do that, I will only find her annoying and I'm totally ok with that. Her last action made me totally despise her as a character and I said this despite I like Jang Nara as an actress.
The amount of empathy he managed to make me feel for a killer, still disturbs me, quite frankly!
I think everyone feels the same including our MCs. Even in Secret Forest2, Bae Doona character do visit him in the prison to show that there are no hard feelings between them. They understood him, despite knowing his method is wrong
Park Hae Young is indeed a good writer since she wrote characters with depth and complexity.
But I utterly despise Yoon Nan Jong's Because This Is My First Life. It is a mess of a drama and the relationship between the leads are just toxic -- esp the FL and her passive aggressive behaviors towards the ML everytime he didnt behave according to her narrative. The message that the drama wants to send at the end is just wrong in all levels. FL was very manipulative and emotionally abusive -- she broke the ML to a point that he cant no longer stay in the house the he loved so much then comes back into his life after she think he had learned his 'lesson' that he cant live without her. I was so disgusted tbh. :(
This is why probably I would never talk about dramas to random people / friends since some just couldnt appreciate the nuance or brilliance storytelling when they do not paying attention when they watched the story. Like C-historical dramas has so much micro detailing that it will all lose in translation when people thought all characters either look the same or the story is just too complicated in general. So no matter how brilliant is the script, they just couldn't see it lol. So to save you from heartache, no need to recommend anything to people with no interest on the subject imo.
But once in a while, a truly magnificent dramas that is so awesome like Joy of Life/Nirvana in Fire for an example come around and I will shamelessly recommend it to anyone since it is just too awesome. Or dramas with brilliant ending like The Bad Kids so I can discuss on the ending on whether they managed to catch it or not. :D
5/10 - The original novel is so obviously written by a teenager so you can expect a very one-sided romantic plot where mostly all the romantic scenes are done by the ML ONLY. That at one point of time, I have no idea why he falls for her in the first place. Not to mention this drama is also just full of nonsensical plots. At the end, I really felt bad for the ML. He deserved better. When the FL opened his wound and confront his sad past forcefully, it him who has to run to win her back in the rain. And until the end when he found that she lies about her identity and everything (not to mention his money?), it is him who has to run to win her back, AGAIN.... ??!! I just couldn't understand how this logic works. I really feel bad for him. I love to watch a balanced love story where the leads actually give equally in the relationship but this one is seemed to be written as a dream fantasy by the author thus it ended looking one sided like this.
9/10 - This is totally an awesome crime thriller drama. I love everytime a mystery drama does this -- you think…
And for those English speaking watchers, they didn't translate the wording at the end. It basically said both Yu Hai & Shun Yun got 1 year prison sentence and Tian Peng got death penalty for the multiple crimes that he did.
