I think she was just sick of having to listen to others and always being told what to do and where to go so when she was praised by someone important she took that as an opportunity to say I don't need to listen to anyone, I do what I want, my art is precious so I choose when to play. And perhaps part of it is just her sulking because she's not used to them being remotely harsh on her.

Yup! I mean she was quite cautious and drew boundaries with Shen. But it doesn't help when EVERYONE was like "oh he seems like a good guy" and "he seems genuine about you" etc etc. I hope this won't be too harsh a lesson for her.

Yeah I don't like that Shen guy. Even IF he was written to be good, the fact that he was so pushy and didn't respect any of her boundaries and not taking no for an answer really irked me. I really hate that.

Also GQF's attention on her wasn't fake. Even when it was a made up excuse to be around Pan Er, I think he really does want to help her and care for her wellbeing but it just didn't stem from any romantic intentions for her. He cares for her because Pan Er cares for her.

And yes, I do hope she gets to have a decent journey and ending.

I agree with you here. She seems really inflexible because she's proud. It's all just to mask her deep insecurity.

Probably an unpopular opinion but maybe we should all cut Yinzhang a bit of slack?
I'm super annoyed with her behaviour but let's just remember how she was abused physically, mentally and most likely even sexually. She was starved and tied up like a dog. She escaped that life just to resume the reality of being an entertainer - which is super low in social ranking - and belongs to the court, so she's not 100% free. ALSO, she lives in a little Yinzhang bubble, has dreams of grandeur and is always coddled and protected by Pan Er. In today's world she would need A LOT of counselling to heal and cope and y'all are just calling her spoilt! She's definitely not behaving "normally" or appropriately but can yo really blame her? That Shen guy probably knows she's easy target too. Let's not victim blame.

I think it’s both? His “aunt” is really his mum right? Since he was adopted by his uncle, officially his mum will be his “aunt”. He wants to give her honour and a proper burial I think. He’s also been fed that his dad is corrupt and must be taken down. Tbh I’m still not sure who the bad guy really is. But I think it has to do with his own trauma and pain of abandonment so he wants to punish his father. Obviously, we can see he is conflicted.

Yeah I think he definitely know something as it looked like he's seen a ghost. No way it was just because she was too pretty. His reaction wasn't lustful but more fearful to me.

I think it might be the case. Remember when she was lying to the boat captain about eloping with GQF? Then, she said he was Minister's Xiao's son called Xiao Fan - which is basically his real identity and name before being adopted into his uncle's family and taking on the last name GU. I mean how can she know of Xiao Fan's existence otherwise? A lot of court people didn't even know about it.
