I don't think anyone thinks he is a benign nice person. He is delusional and selfish. But he is not all evil. I felt pity for him at times. I was mad his actions led to Yan He's death when it might have been avoided selfish I agree.

Was He Yan sent to Rundu because CZ wanted to protect her? I thought it was because he convinced the KIng to keep the leads separated in fear of their power when they are together.

In my opinion, some took it to the extreme.

There is a deleted scene of him with some unsent text messages but in the Hong Kong arc, they included a scene I believe replaced that. I feel they wanted to create space in time and for her to be on her own to grow in college. I don't want to say more as I know you haven't watched it.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I find myself shocked after watching an episode then going into the forums to find the wonderful significant parts that impressed me are not even mentioned, and the parts I didn't even find significant are the topic of disappointments. People might not like what was done, but there are reasons I imagine were the purpose of the screenwriter and director. One thing I do not like is when they take an HE from a novel and turn it into an open ending!

I was so disappointed Yan died. His baby was on her way. I wish they would stop do this in dramas.
