I am a romantic and normally I don't like the FL having an evil ex husband. But if the drama is really good, I can oversee that as in The Double. Also in The Princess Royal, the novel readers told me the FL was intimate with the sml in her previous life and they even told the chapters to read. I wish I had not read it. In her present life, it was obvious she only had the ML in her heart and I loved TPR! As you said, let's hope the screenwriter and director make this work for us.

The director for The Double was scolded by the netizens. The special episode was quickly put together to appease the viewers. This is what I remembered. It broke my heart to watch that battle scene😭

I love strong leads who are cunning. The FL in The Double is a perfect example. I took at look at your watchlist. I see you also like WTPR. It is one I did not like because the FL was weak and acted more like a deranged woman out for revenge. I think this is the makjang effect in Kdramas. I got turned off Kdramas after watching Marry My Husband and WTPR. But now I am watching Our Universe for the little cutie. It hasn't hooked me, so I put it on hold until all the episodes are out. The FL is not strong or cunning.

The Double was excellent. My only complaint is that candlelight kiss and the ending. But at least we were given an special episode.

I haven't read the novel but I agree with everything you said here: "I really thought that in the first 100 chapters, why is he not a lot there! So if the script writers can increase his prominence a bit, without diminishing the light of FL, and not show her as damsel in distress always to just hype ML, but keep what it is in the novel, then I don't see a problem!
Both Wang Hedi and Meng Ziyi are good cast choices, and I think they will do a good job!

Also, since you read the novel, is the ml someone she meets in her second life? From the synopsis, she was executed by her husband or I assume he was the emperor.

I am not sure if I am going to like this plot. The FL is reborn after being executed under her husband's orders.

I am shocked that some seem to feel Dylan shouldn't be the ml. I love him, but I didn't watch GOD. I have friends who pushed their way through it for Dylan, so I know they will be happy with him in a new drama. I am so happy as I feel I haven't seen him in so long, and I have already watched LBFATD several times.
And as I read through this thread, some are against Meng Zi as fl. Oh well, people should choose whether to watch or not. I don't bother when I don't like the casting or the plot. I am looking forward to this. Hopefully, it doesn't have an open ending or either of the leads dies.

Here I am thinking this is a dynamic pairing. My last Dylan Wang drama was LBFATD. He was outstanding! My last Meng Zi drama was Blossom, and she was outstanding! I am so happy with this. I don't understand the uproar.

At first I was so upset she left him again but then I started to see the director's angle. I put that in my review at the end.

I realize this is long after you asked the question and I see you have already dropped at ep 4. The drama is not totally focused on her trauma but rather on the leads reconnecting. Once they start living together, it is so beautiful to watch the way Sang Yan heals her and to see that he had never given up on her. Every episode unfolds with the FL's pov at the start and Sang Yan's pov at the end. Bai Jing Ting got into the hearts of many with his performance in TFF. It is not the melodrama you might think it is judging from the first few episodes.

I came in late for this but I am impressed that so many remembered and cared enough to post. This is testament to TFF!!!

That is what I did.I am sure there is a link between grandpa the themes of TFF but I was too eager to get back to the leads, I skipped him. At first I thought he was there for the purpose of getting the second couple together but at one point I felt it was enough.

Chen Fei never disappoints but I am not sure about the FL. I don't think I have watched her in anything before.
